10 CSR CLOTHING IS MANUFACTURED IN A RESPONSIBLE MANNER. FOR OUR PRODUCTION PERSONNEL, FOR THE PLANET AND FOR YOU. THE RESULT: WORKWEAR MADE FROM CONTROLLED AND TESTED MATERIALS, MANUFACTURED USING STATE-OF-THE-ART PRODUCTION METHODS, UNDER SAFE AND ETHICAL WORKING CONDITIONS. EXTENSIVE TESTING OF CLOTHING The fabrics used by Orcon Workwear are laboratory tested. In a continuous process, physical and chemical tests are used to check resistance to wear, shape stability, weaving errors and tearing and tensile strength. Will perspiration affect the colour of the clothing? How much friction can a piece of clothing withstand before it starts to wear? We test it, so we produce clothing of a consistently high quality. Clothing which can withstand all the conditions you expose it to at work. A test panel of people in the industry wear prototypes at work and note their experiences. Does the material meet the required quality? Does the fit need to be adjusted? Following the input from the test wearers, we produce new prototypes. This process is repeated until the perfect result is achieved, which meets the requirements of the target group and the stringent quality requirements of Orcon Workwear. CONTROL PROCESS FROM RAW MATERIAL TO FINAL PRODUCT Both the raw materials with which we work and the factories in which they are processed are subject to extensive control. In the professional dyeing plants, for example, we check the many millions of metres of fabric are all exactly the right colour. And the necessary chemical substances are deployed safely. The vast majority of Orcon s suppliers of buttons, zips, sewing thread, reflective tape and fabrics are European based. TenCate is one of the most important suppliers of fabrics. Suppliers and sewing workshops are chosen and assessed according to the working conditions offered to their employees, and their quality. Whenever possible, we use textiles and materials which comply with the Oeko-Tex 100 standard. We see it as our task, together with our suppliers, to develop materials which comply with the strictest possible quality and environmental requirements. Detailed quality control processes are in place for every production phase, followed by an inspection of the final product and a last random check. TenCate fabrics: ISO 9001 and ISO14001 I Sewing workshop Tunisia: ISO 9001 GOOD WORKING CONDITIONS The Fair Wear Foundation is an independent initiative which supports and promotes good working conditions in the production of clothing. Orcon Workwear is a member of the Fair Wear Foundation. All our suppliers must therefore be able to demonstrate and prove they do not use child labour or forced labour, they offer good working conditions which are applicable in local circumstances, their employees are allowed to be trade union members, they offer fair working hours and wages, and they have an efficient management system. Most of Orcon s products are manufactured in Orcon s own sewing workshops, while we also work with external sewing workshops worldwide. These are always large and well-established sewing workshops, each and every one making use of the most modern production methods and machines. CSR INITIATIVES Orcon Workwear actively participates in various initiatives which contribute to recycling raw materials and which have been proven to protect the environment. We are able to limit CO2 emissions for example, by making use of smart and efficient transport. As a member of the Modint branch Association, the parent company of Orcon Workwear has signed a covenant along with participating companies in the fashion and workwear sector, in which we pledge to make every possible effort in CSR issues and initiatives. We participate in the Proeffabriek project for example, in which research is being conducted into the reuse of waste textiles. For many years, we have been working with the Support Foundation, which supports those development projects which structurally contribute to the improvement of underprivileged regions, whereby underprivileged children and women are particularly regarded to be the most important target group. Malawi and Ghana receive an annual supply of clothing and fabrics from which the population can create new clothing and cooking bags, for example.
