Your Workshop Facilitators Shafira (Kathy Kont) Sandie Hansen My first real interaction with bellydancing was at a friend s 40 th birthday and I was mesmerized. This is for me and so I joined Sinbad s Daughters in 1995. It is fulfilling being able to teach the grounding for this beautiful dance form, also finding pleasure in helping women find their sensual dancer within and their enjoyment of being able to express themselves without fear. I love trying all different styles of Bellydance. I find you never stop learning no matter who you are. Highlights for me have been attending 3 Rachel Brice Retreats. Learning with Anasma Vuong-Rajau. I was part of Journey Along the Silk Road. A production brought out to Australia by Kaeshi Chai from New York. My style of dance is a blend of both classical and tribal bellydance. Shafira was first introduced to the beautiful art form of bellydance in 1993. Living in Kalgoorlie WA at the time she was also involved with the local community theatre. She has been involved in all aspects of theatre and dance from performing to directing, lighting, and the creation of costumes. Owing her love of the dance to Eva Cass (her first teacher), Keti Sharif and Belyssa she has been inspired by many dancers. Her style is predominantly Egyptian Beledi, with a little Shabbi and raqs sharki sometimes thrown into the mix. International influences have included attending workshops with Ibrahim Farrah (Bobby), Hossam and Serena Ramzy, Dina, Jillina, Rachel Brice, Mamoud Reda and Farida Fahmy to name a few. Shafira has performed and taught at many WAMED festivals throughout the years. What she loves most about Belly dance? The way that it can help a person's self-esteem. And, of course, she adores being able to dance around in gorgeous sparkles!
Daily Workshops Specific Workshops Bellyfit Dance Routine with Sandie Sandie will guide you through routines that you can incorporate into your daily life at home. Workout before breakfast. A great way to start the day. Lovely veil routine Music, notes and veil supplied Zilling Drills ½ hour drilling with basic patterns for beginners. Learn to play the basics. Kathy will be going through the how to, and practice basic rhythms while moving. For the more advanced extra rhythms will be added.. Bodyflow Sandie will take you through dance conditioning to help stretch and tone. Family Drills Sandie and Kathy will be going through ways to isolate separate sections of your body. Everyday drills for your practice at home. What moves What? Ever wondered which part of the body you should move to what musical instrument? Kathy will help spread some light on this subject. Costume Design Unleash your creativity and design your own new outfit. We will play around with designs, drawing out your design on paper. Don t want a costume? It is never a waste to have a costume design ready for when you need it. Materials supplied for you to draw with.
