Seminar Information Thank you if you are planning to attend the June Seminar At registration you will be expected to pay cash for any monies owed. Please read everything carefully written below The lessons with Mark will be in an UN-heated, non-air conditioned BARN. The weather in Maine is usually, hot, cold, windy, rainy, all of the previous can happen in one day! Please be prepared for all, with clothing to suit! Forgot to mention fog, which Mark found to be wonderful! Travel For your GPS, our address is 2 Fitz Hugh Lane, Mt Desert, ME. Hotels are only 4 miles away in Bar Harbor, and Trenton. The motel previous students has used is the Eden Brook across from the College of the Atlantic in Bar Harbor, Telephone #207-288-4975. Their rates are reasonable and refrigerators are available for a small fee. Trenton, just before you cross the bridge to Mount Desert Island has a reasonably priced on named Sunrise, #207-667-8452, or go on line, the area has many options. Any Question, just ask. Cowboy and Western Theme This year our theme goes along with the Friday night entertainment; an old Western Murder mystery, which you all will take part in. Some have speaking parts, but everyone is invited to join the festivities and dress as the theme dictates; Western, Mexican or Indian. Prizes will be awarded for the best costumes. There is a free supper, lots of laughs and the person who guesses who killed the sheriff wins a prize. All present get to play, we will have a working poker table, complete with dealer, bar with bartender, jail, which you may visit, roving cowhands that sing and even a resident ghost and a street person! Come and join the fun! Food Lunches will be served at the seminar; all home cooked, and come with a warning---you might gain weight! I will have labels on the food, so you will know what it contains. Lunch is FREE on Monday. Sign up for 2 more classes and get 20% off your total bill otherwise you will pay the regular price for any additional classes. For the remaining days the daily lunch fee of $6.00 will be charged. We will have a health form for you to fill out upon your arrival, with contact information in case of an emergency and with any dietary, and allergy needs. All food will be prepared fresh, on site. If you bring food for yourself, that is OK, but be sure to bring your own refrigeration. The house water is safe, and soda will be available for a fee. Coffee and snacks will be available all day. I assure you no one will go hungry! After classes are over, for your supper there is a very good BBQ restaurant within 2 miles, and a convenience store that has sandwiches (subway) and pizza within 1 mile. Ellsworth is the nearest city, 18miles away, Bar Harbor, 6 miles away and Southwest Harbor, 10 miles and Northeast Harbor, 6 miles. All of which have many restaurants, and hotels. Banquet The prices for the dinners have been predetermined to include all of the side fixings. (please see registration form). I buy lobsters direct from the boat and prices change daily, but it is cheaper than market prices. For the Lobster, Steak and Turkey that you ordered; you will have tickets in your packets to put in the basket when you pick up your food. Entertainment Monday night Lee Southard will entertain with singing, dancing, plus free pizza. Please sign up so we can have enough pizzas. Friday night is the Murder Mystery Game with free refreshments. For both nights you may BYOB.

Classes Classes will start on time, so please be 15 minutes early for Mark s classes to trace on your patterns. If you have not painted with Mark before, you are in for a treat! His expertise, handling of technique and his personality are to be enjoyed! His classes are in the barn, which he says is his favorite place to teach. We also have Maureen Baker, who is a national teacher like Mark. She teaches all over the country. Marge Otis, Suzi Franklin, Smokey Beare, Betty Allen and Bev Banks will be the TEAM teachers this year. Also, this year we have something new; a couple of evening classes and a few 2 hour classes. Painting Contest Due to a lack of hanging space; the submissions will be up to two (2) 8 x 10 colored photos of your art work. There is a $5.00 fee per entry; to be used for the prize money to be paid for First Place, Judges Choice and Peoples Choice for two categories; --- Students and Teachers, Officers and anyone who sells $500.00 worth of paintings. There will be ribbons for all of the winners. The painting you submit may be painted in any medium, of any subject, as long as it is your own composition. The ribbons will be placed on the winning pictures on Friday morning, so all can see who won. Thursday 5:00pm will be the deadline for turning in your photos. Judging will be done on Thursday evening. Miscellaneous PLEASE BRING A MUG WITH YOUR NAME ON IT TO USE ALL WEEK AS THERE WILL NOT BE ANY PEPER HOT CUPS. Also bring cameras, warm and cold clothes, bug spray and sun glasses. Bring cash to buy tickets for the 50-50 daily drawings and raffle tickets sold for the gift parcels. If any of you have something small and nice that you would like to donate for the gift parcels it would be appreciated. I am asking the teachers to donate a class piece to this raffle. Mark is always more than generous in this area. Money raised by all of this will help to keep prices down for next year. All of this work is done by volunteers except for the teachers. We are a NOT for profit organization. Thank you, and if you have any questions and or suggestions please contact Betty Allen, 207-244-7071 or eallensart@gmail.com; or snail mail to PO Box 133, Mt Desert, ME 04660.
