For the attention of the Hairdressing & Beauty Therapy co-ordinator March 2015 Learners in Full Time Education KS4 & KS5 14-19 year old qualifications for the future England only. As you may already be aware Vocational Education system for 14-19 Full Time Education is changing. These changes are coming as a direct result of the 2011 Professor A Woolf report. We have started to see the following changes: The introduction of study programmes currently in its 2 nd year. Changes to funding funding now follows the learner and not the qualification Implementation of the new English and Maths strategy The condition of funding will be revised, so all full-time students (those on a study programme of at least 540 planned hours if age 16 to 17, or at least 450 hours if age 18), starting their study programme who have a grade D GCSE or equivalent in maths and/or English must be enrolled on a GCSE or approved IGCSE qualification in maths and/ or English, rather than an approved stepping stone qualification. Introduction of Performance Points KS4 (14-16 year olds) KS5 (16-18 year olds) For any of you that were unable to attend our latest round of FE focus groups (aimed at Curriculum Managers, Course Leaders, Heads of Function) these regular meetings allow us to share all the changes to Education Policies and explain how this will affect you in the future. If you would like to see the most recent slides please email: sarah.harris@cityandguilds.com Please note that these changes will not affect teaching for this September 2015. However we will be outlining the changes in the next round of network meetings and future FE Focus Group meetings. The main changes that will be come into play for Level 3 qualifications for September 2016, These changes will effect centres in ENGLAND ONLY. So, just to confirm, there will be no changes to the current qualifications for this September 2015. The only change being implemented this year is the introduction of the new NVQ in hairdressing and barbering (covered later on in this product update) Key Stage 4 (14-16) We currently have 2 qualifications in Hair & Beauty approved to appear on 2017 Performance Tables. Unfortunately, we have been informed that our new KS4 (14-16) qualifications have not made it onto the list at this stage. This is disappointing news, however we are committed to working closely with the DfE to resubmit these qualifications over the coming months. These qualifications under 3038 have now been closed for further registrations. If you are planning next year s curriculum or starting to think about deliver the current qualifications are all still valid and will continue for next year. SFA update: The Skills Funding Agency are currently reviewing all submissions of qualifications offered to 19+ learners. This process has taken a considerable amount of time and in some instance we have not been successful to secure funding for all our qualifications, especially those which had a low uptake. We have now been notified that the new funding list has been updated. The Level 2 and above qualifications that have been approved for funding have been added to the Simplified Funding Rates Catalogue as of 1st April. The outcome for our Entry and Level 1 submissions will be updated and published by SFA on the Simplified Funding Rates Catalogue no later than 22nd April 2015. Funding spreadsheet City & Guilds have produced funding spreadsheets for all our markets. These spreadsheets are updated monthly and can be accessed by centres to check funding against each qualification under different funding streams. If you haven t used this in the past please use the link to view all the qualification areas. You can select the hair and beauty spreadsheet from here: http://www.cityandguilds.com/delivering-our-qualifications/funding/qualifications-funding
