A Cake lovingly baked and donated by Dorothy Damon 4. 200 Ghost Gift Voucher donated by Touker Suleyman The iconic British brand, Ghost London, is an established name in fashion. Designed in London, Ghost s collections are known for the feminine aesthetic, ethereal fabrics and clinging dresses. The signature use of flowing fabrics, soft georgettes, crepe and satins, almost always cut on the bias, forms the base of each collection. Fabrics are a key element to every collection and most of these fabrics are woven from viscose yarn and Garment Dyed. She is a post graduate of Visual Arts Painting and Drawing at the University of Sussex and West Dean College in England. Her time is split between the UK and Canada, teaching and exhibiting internationally. For this painting I used Gertrude Stein as an inspiration. Her sentence Rose is a rose is a rose is a rose. was written as part of her 1913 poem Sacred Emily. In that poem, the first Rose is the name of a person. Stein later used variations on the sentence in other writings, and A rose is a rose is a rose is among her most famous quotations, often interpreted as meaning things are what they are, a statement of the law of identity, A is A. In Stein s view, the sentence ex-presses the fact that simply using the name of a thing already invokes the imagery and emotions associated with it, an idea also intensively discussed in the problem of universal debate where Peter Abelard and others.
