Opening Speech Speech given by Madam Ho Thi Kim Thoa Vice Minister Industry and Commerce Opening Ceremony on 11 April, 2012 Accessories Expo 2012. Ladies and Gentlemen, Distinguished Guests, Ladies and Gentlemen, First of all, on behalf of the Leadership of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, I would like to welcome all our guests of honor, distinguished guests, representatives of businesses and the mass media to Vietnam Saigon Textile & Garment Industry Expo 2012 - Vietnam Saigon Fabric & Garment We are all aware that Vietnam s textile and garment industry is one of the key manufacturing industries, that has always enjoyed a high export turnover in the Vietnamese economy. Over the past years, the industry has always succeeded in achieving high growth rate, regional and global competitiveness, high localization rate of exports, high revenue and profit and thus continuously improving workers income and tax contribution to the state budget. This achievements have made the industry No. Export Industry in the country with export turn-over of USD 11,2 bn in 2010 and over 15,6 bn USD in 2011. In addition to great business results, the Garment and Textile Industry in Vietnam has been continuously developing an enabling investment environment with supportive policies aiming at boosting international cooperation, investments and manufacturing movement from China, South Korea, Taiwan Hong Kong and other countries to Vietnam. With an export turn-over of USD 15.6 bn in 2011, an increase of 39% compared with 2010 results, Vietnam continues to reinforce its position as one of the leading apparel manufacturing and exporting countries in the world, an attractive investment destination for apparel investors, manufacturers and traders in the world. Ladies and Gentlemen, Master plan for Textile and Garment Industries development until 2015 aiming at USD 20bn export turn-over and 60% localization rate is posing now urgent needs for innovation, quality assurance, labor, environment management improvement, and the upgrade of Vietnam Apparel Value Chain to meet international standards. With this direction in mind, finding the right partners leading suppliers of
machinery and accessories will inevitably contribute to the future success of the apparel industry in Vietnam. The exhibition this year has brought together nearly 300 international and domestic enterprises. This is a great opportunity for Vietnam apparel businesses to learn about new technologies, modern machineries and accessories that could help them to make informed investment decisions and better meet the demands of international buyers. This is also a great chance for domestic and international business working in different industries to get on together to find new partners, promote one s brands, expand one s market and build up long-term cooperation. I strongly believe that with the right direction set by the Government, strong leadership of the Ministry of Industry and Trade and overall efforts of the industry, Saigon Textile & Garment Industry Expo will maintain its position as one of the most prestigious expos in Vietnam and in the region, an attractive destination for apparel manufactures, international investors, domestic and international buyers alike. Once again, on behalf of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, I wish you all good health and great success. Best success to all Vietnamese and international manufactures, equipment and accessories suppliers participating in this exhibition. Great success to Vietnam Saigon Textile & Garment Industry Expo 2012 - Vietnam Saigon Fabric & Garment Accessories Expo 2012. Thank you!
Speech given by Mr. Hoang Ve Dung Deputy General Director of VINATEX Opening Ceremony on 11 April, 2012 First of all, please allow me, on behalf of VINATEX, to send our greetings and sincere thanks to all the distinguished guests, the exhibitors, the foreign and domestic enterprises who have participated in the Opening ceremony of Vietnam Saigon Textile & Garment Industry Expo 2012 - Vietnam Saigon Fabric & Garment Accessories Expo 2012in Ho Chi Minh City. The exhibition is organized with the sponsor from the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the co-ordination of Vinatex, CP Exhibition and Vietcham Expo. Ladies and gentlemen, Vietnam Saigon Textile and Garment Expo 2012 has a display area of 8,000m2 with the participation of nearly 300 companies from 18 countries and territories who will introduce equipment and machineries for fibre, textile, dyeing industries and materials and accessories serving Vietnam and regional textile and garment industries.. In the year of 2011, Vietnam s textile and garment industry achieved a high growth rate with export turn-over of 15.6 billion USD with an increase of over 39% compared with 2010. With such advantage, we believe that 20 billion USD export turn-over targeted for the year of 2015 is feasible. However, maintaining the growth rate in the context of the world s turbulent economy and severer competition is always a challenge to Vietnam s Textile and Garment Industry. In order to implement the sustainable development strategy of the industry untill 2015, ensuring that the manufactured products satisfy the needs of domestic and international markets and increasing the added values to the products, Vietnam s textile and garment industry needs to comrehensively invest in know-hows, equipment and technologies aiming high outputs, high quality and environmental friendliness. The Expo we have today provides opportunities to the industry s enterprises to learn about and choose the state-of-the-art equipment manufactured in advanced industrial countries and to look for the supply sources of suitable materials and accessories. Taking this occasion, I would like to sincerely express my thanks to the leaders of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, People s Committees of Ho Chi Minh City and other cities and provinces, government agencies, Consulates and Trade Offices from different countries, Vietnam s Chamber of Commerce and Industry, domestic
and foreign clients, media agencies, central and local broadcasting stations who have participated in the today event. I would like to wish you good health and success. I hereby declare open the Vietnam Saigon Textile & Garment Industry Expo 2012 Vietnam Saigon Fabric & Garment Accessories Expo 2012. Thank you very much.
Speech given by Mr. Hoang Van Dung First Vice Chairman of VCCI Opening Ceremony on 11 April, 2012 Distinguished guests, On be half of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry, I would like to warmly welcome all the participants to the opening ceremony of the 22nd Vietnam Saigon Textile & Garment Industry Expo 2012 - Vietnam Saigon Fabric & Garment Accessories Expo 2012. Ladies and Gentlemen, As one of the key manufacturing industries, Vietnam s textile and garment industry has a strong potential for development. It is currently ranked number one in the group of key export sectors in Vietnam, creating more jobs and contributing significantly to the economic growth. In the recent years, although much influenced by the global economic recession, our textile and garment industry is continuously achieving very impressive export turn-over. As announced by the Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association (Vitas), in the year of 2011, the textile and garment industry achieved a trade surplus of $6.5 billion, an increase of $1.5 billion compared to 2010, and localization rate of rose up to 48%. In the context of the country's export "negative" growth, decreasing purchasing power of many major world markets and Vietnam s other key sectors the export turn-overs falling down, the business results of the textile and garment industry are even more remarkable. Vietnam Saigon Textile & Garment Industry Expo, held since 1992 to date, has become a forum where the industry s businesses can exchange information, seek investment opportunities and business partnership. This event has supported the enterprises in grasping market information, developing investment plans, developing, cooperating and building of the market of materials and accessories. The expo has, in fact, become a companion of Vietnam's textile and garment industry. Ladies and Gentlemen, Thanks to the achievements gained in the recent years, this year, Saigon Tex 2012 is recognized by UFI - the Global Association of Exhibition Industry - of its quality which meets UFI s international standards. It is also the unique event of the
industry in Vietnam recognized by UFI. With its reputation enhanced, the exhibition this year has brought together nearly 300 enterprises from 18 countries and territories that will display and introduce their products on a total exhibition area of 8,000 m2. The exhibition is divided into two areas: machines and equipment, materials and fabrics. Along with the exhibition, a seminar on "Global Textile and Garment From the supply market to the consumption market" and "Business solutions which create added values to textile and garment enterprises in Vietnam" will bring in information about solutions as well as the most state-of-the-art technologies to the enterprises. Specifically, in this exhibition, in order to enhance the connection between visitors and the exhibitors, SaigonTex 2012 s organization committee has developed the program "Business Networking - Key buyer matching". This program aims at enabling the direct discussions between the enterprises in the industry and the suppliers at the exhibitions. With the diverse activities of this exhibition, we believe that Vietnam s textile and garment enterprises will find mordern machines and equipment and advanced technology sutaible to their actual conditions, thereby improving the competitiveness on international markets as well as serving with better quality to the domestic market. On this occasion, I would like to thank the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, industry associations, foreign and domestic trade promotion organizations, communication agencies for their support to the success of the exhibition. We wish you good health, happiness and success and wish that the exhibition will be a great success. Thank you very much for your kind attention.
