LITTLE ROCK FASHION WEEK JULY 11-16 (Little Rock, Arkansas) The fastest growing fashion week in America, Little Rock Fashion Week(LRFW) will be held July 11-16 in downtown Little Rock. This annual event will showcase collections of emerging local, regional and national clothing and jewelry designers, as well as the best of our region s hairstylists, makeup artists and musical performers. In 2009, we made history. In 2010, we enhanced fashion. In 2011, we re reinventing fashion trends, says Brandon D. Campbell, LRFW s founder and executive producer. Campbell continues: A person who has experienced the previous Little Rock Fashion Weeks will recognize our transition. My team and I have pushed ourselves to create an atmosphere containing fashion and entertainment that has never been seen before. To be very frank, we are breaking all sorts of fashion show rules that I m confident people will love and that will be followed after Little Rock Fashion Week 2011. It s fashion. The status quo is meant to be challenged. LRFW is the trailblazer of bringing high fashion experiences to this region and incorporating it with entertainment. This year we are taking it to an extreme level that people will talk about for many years to come. Peter Bailey, host of NBC Miami Nitecap, will co-host the featured Posh Expression Fashion Experience on Saturday, July 16. Ashley Blackstone of KTHV will join Bailey as a co-host. Also, BJ Steed of KTHV will host the Young and Fabulous Fashion Experience on Friday, July 15. Both featured shows will be held at the Statehouse Convention Center in ballroom A. This year s lineup of designers and boutiques include local, regional and nationally talented artists. LRFW will feature the LRFW 2010 Clothing Line of the Year Nicole McGehee Collection by Dumas Ark. native, Nicole McGehee. Uniquely styled by combining urban and business wear, the Nicole McGehee Collection offers a unique fashion experience, celebrating each woman s beauty. Additional designers include the best of local, regional, and national designers. Feminine and elegant designed eveningwear for the young modern woman, Laurella by designer Laurie B. Allen, of Pittsburg, is a couture clothing line that uses a wide array of fabric textures and patterns that ignites interest. NaJo, named after Little Rock designer Natasha Rawls two sons Nathan and Jordan, is an eclectic and classic wear line for the everyday woman who is always interesting, fashionable and never boring. LRFW is pleased to introduce 13 year-old fashion sensation, Aaliyah Fisher of Little Rock, and her clothing line, Graffiti. The youngest designer to ever show at fashion week, Fisher creates every daywear for girls and teens who embrace a definitive sense of style. Raul Torres, by designer Raul Torres of Rogers, is an elegant eveningwear collection for the young woman trendsetter; the Raul Torres collection is a popular label that keeps one's fashion buzz alive. Just Faux Fun by Joe Claire Dodson, Conway, Ark. resident offers a casual chic, yet affordable, the Just Faux Fun line for young adult females incorporates lightweight, washable faux fur fabric in its designs to create a unique fashion statement; Splendid Fever, by Wynika Smith of Atlanta, gives a combination style of trendy meets classic and edgy meets sophistication. The Splendid Fever label compliments women from every walk of life that love originality and being fierce. Serendipity Designz by Misty Hunkler and Heather E. McGuire, of Walnut Ridge, Ark., exemplifies style, luxury, and sophistication, Serendipity Designz is highly fashionable custom-made couture clothing with a vintage flair for children; Little Rock resident and designer Christopher Youngstar, one of the South s leading artists, transitions his artistic expression by using models bodies as a canvas in motion. Youngstar portrays the beautiful movement of life while making bold fashions statements. This will be Youngstar s third year, showing at LRFW. Fayetteville, Ark. designer Chavon Sewell will debut her fashion label Chavon Shree. Described as out of the box and eclectic, Chavon Shree targets daring women who make their own fashionable rules. N cholé Féroce (nik-o-lay fay-rosh), founded by Sheila Scott of Little Rock, is "edge times elegant" style according to Scott. She designs to celebrate the classy yet edgy professional woman. This line represents the confidence and attitude for success and emanates the ferocity within every woman.
Novel T s is the creation of Sandra and Kenny Fisher of Pine Bluff, Ark. and offers unique and trendy Greek fraternity and sorority clothing line. However, they view their designs as not just some letters on a t-shirt, but fashion forward statements. It s high fashion. KH Designs, by Kelvin Haydon of Milwaukee, is a luxurious, wearable couture fashion label for men and women that embodies a timeless posh. Novel Approach is the first jewelry line to ever be featured at LRFW. Designed by Little Rock resident Kari Bryde, the custom designed and crafted au courant jewelry celebrates movement and plays with both positive and negative space. Bryde uses high-end materials that create beauty from every angle. In addition to the designers, LRFW also showcases over 80 of the top men, women and child models in the mid-south region. Featured models include: Mrs. Arkansas International 2010 Christina Stengal; Nivea Akpore, the 2010 LRFW Model of the Year; Larry Scruggs, LRFW Agency Model who s featured in the upcoming ad campaigns for Dillard s fall season jeans. Each year, LRFW presents three awards: The Clothing Line of the Year, The Model of the Year, and the Fashion Icon of the Year. National judges for 2011 LRFW awards include Los Angeles residents Award recipients receive several prizes. This year, the Clothing Line of the Year designer will be provided the opportunity to showcase his or her collection at Baltimore Fashion Week 2011 scheduled for August 18-21. These two awards will be selected after the final Posh Expression Fashion Experience. The 2011 Fashion Icon recipient is Martha Dixon, of Arkadelphia, AR. Dixon is an internationally known designer who s a longtime favorite of Hillary Clinton. Dixon designed several gowns for Clinton during her time as First Lady of Arkansas and as First Lady of the United States America, including Clinton s red satin and lace dress worn at the 1993 Presidential Inaugural Gala. Dixon will be presented her award during the Posh Expression Experience. The week long fashion event includes music, art and education, and of course, the best in Little Rock fashion.
