The NH3 Control Technology encapsulates, concentrates, enhancing the performance of the Ammonia. This technology reduces vapor inhalation & irritation. Minimum PPD PPD maximum of 2.0% in levels 8, 9, 10 and 11, a maximum of 3.5% in levels 1-7. REDUCED RESORCINOL Resorcinol percentages are less than 0.5 in levels 8, 9, 10 and 11, a maximum concentration of 1.5% in levels 1-7. SUPERSONIC PERFORMANCE The Bio-kinetic Manufacturing Technology NH3 Control encapsulates and controls the entire oxidation process, reducing chemical damage to the bonds while polymer molecules formed by natural silicon-based esters sustain bond construction. BIG PRO pigment calibrations and technologies mimic the look of natural hair color. POLY-FORCE BOND SCIENCE anchors the ultra-refined 99.5% PURE pigment blends to the amino peptide keratin structures, leaving hair strong and integral. The final effect is natural multi-chromatic, translucent color as if created by nature, leaving hair integral, shiny and elastic. * The percentages listed are the concentrations within the coloring cream before dilution with developer.

Example: Add 50 ml BIG PROFESSIONAL Color Cream to 50 ml BIG OXY BUTTER. Standard Mix: Mixing ratio is 1 Part BIG PROFESSIONAL Color Cream to 1 part BIG OXY BUTTER. Example: Add 50 ml BIG PROFESSIONAL Color Cream to 75 ml BIG OXY BUTTER. Ultra-Light Blonde Super Lighteners or Translucent Pigmentation: Mixing Ratio is 1 part BIG PROFESSIONAL Color Cream to 2 parts BIG OXY BUTTER. Example: Add 50 ml BIG PROFESSIONAL Color Cream to 100ml BIG OXY BUTTER. TEMPERATURE The BIG PRO COLOR is highly sensitive to temperature. The ideal temperature for standard color processing is 72 degrees Fahrenheit (23 Celsius). Temperature affects the strength of peroxide. If you place someone under the dryer, the average temperature is 120 Fahrenheit (49 Celsius), 20 volume peroxide now acts as 25 to 30 volume peroxide. Applying heat can achieve higher lifts of color, deeper deposit or shorter coloring times. This also works in the reverse, If it is 68 degrees Fahrenheit (20 Celsius) in temperature, the peroxide will drop 1-2 volumes of strength for every 2 degrees Fahrenheit to become 18 volume, (at 62.6 F - 17 C of temperature the 20 Volume peroxide then acts as 16 volume and lower depending on colder room temps). * In winter, ensure the head is covered up during processing time, to maintain heat or apply gentle even warmth.

PROGRESSIVE HUE & TONE INTENSITY: Time table based on medium-fine hair diameter, average porosity, central European hair type with less than 30% gray, cosmetic color level applied is the same level of original base color. 10-15 min. 15-20 min. 20-25 min. 25-30 min. BIG PROFESSIONAL SUPER SONIC COLOR will remain true to level during longer processing times. The hair color will not become a darker level, however the hair will have a higher concentration of pigment development, creating a more intensive hue and reflection. (Example: Reds will be more intensive, gold will seem more golden and concentrated, while ash tones will go more matte.)

AMMONIA VAPOR REDUCTION These developers are produced with the patented BioKinetic Emissions Control Technology that positively charged with molecular-protons to assist with the electromagnetic encapsulation of activated ammonia molecules and the developing vapors at the moment of oxidation. BIG OXY BUTTER performs a 5-Phase Fusion Action during the color process: 1. Activates the ammonia and oxidative actives within the color cream. 2. Assists with the encapsulation of the ammonia and developing vapors at the moment of oxidation. 3. Delivers the active ingredients directly to the hairs shaft where it reacts in conjunction with the ammonia to lift and diffuse the natural pigments. 4. Assists with the development, delivery and linkage of the newly forming activated color pigments deep into the cortex to the amino protein structures. 5. The pigments are then linked and trapped in the spaces between the hair s peptide bonds for extended color vibrancy.

DEVELOPER VOLUMES versus HUE & TONE INTENSITY: Peroxide is used in hair color to activate the ammonia, oxidize the development of cosmetic pigmentation and deteriorate the melanin found in the hair and lightening the hair to higher levels. The higher the peroxide volume the more lift of melanin levels, and in consequence the more development of red melanin (Tricosiderin) as the resulting undertone. In blended color systems the calibration of pigments is calculated to counteract and balance the development of red pigment created by the lifting of the melanin levels and as rule a specific peroxide volume is recommended to be used with the specific shade blend. It is best to formulate one level lighter for medium - fine hair or use 00 BOSSTER to brighten 1 to 2 levels. Another alternative on natural hair is formulate 1 to 2 mixing ratio. NOTE: When using reds or any of the fashion colors, it is best to add a Natural shade with it to lock in color. Just 15 or 25 grams of a Natural.0 shade added to a red color will make a big difference and help eliminate hot roots and give a more natural result. Reds applied directly will result bright and translucent. NOTE: Adding in.0 Natural shades will give the coppers more longevity in the hair strand and the color will result more brownish and natural. Applying straight to salt-n-pepper will result bright and translucent. When using this series on porous hair it is best to use 10 volume of peroxide in order to hold the red. 11 A Ash Cenere Ceniza Cendré Asch 38 G Green Verde Verde Vert Grün NOTE: The correct quantity of product must be applied to the hair. Too little product will mean insufficient lift, low color deposit, poor or uneven coverage resulting in fade. Applying the correct quantity ensures the product will penetrate the hair shaft, reach the keratin chains through the reduced peptide bonds and produce the desired lifting and depositing action. NOTE: Applications can be made on dry or pre-washed, towel dried hair. NOTE: Some resistant white hair will accept color better if the hair is pre-washed and towel dried. This method is also advisable when the hair is particularly resistant to color. NOTE: YOU CAN APPLY HEAT. Apply gentle heat when extra lift and or deposit is required. Heat application can increase lift and can add to the life-span of shade, hue and tone intensity. 11.11 Ultra Light Ash Blonde Biondo Ultra Chiaro Cenere Rubio Ultra Claro Ceniza Blond Cendré Ultra-clair Ultra-lichtblond Asch 03 Y Yellow Giallo Amarillo Jaune Gelb 00 C Clear Booster Booster Trasparente Booster Claro Booster Clair Booster Clear 39 SUPER SHADES SHADE SELECTION BASED ON INTERNATIONAL SALES STATISTICS

COLOR BOOSTERS-CORRECTORS The 7 pigmented BIG PROFESSIONAL SUPER SONIC COLOR boosters are; 66R Red, 22V Violet, 88B Blue, 33G Gold, 11A Ash, 38G Green, 03Y Yellow, 33G Gold These color boosters have oxidizing bases which means they can be added into all the colors to enhance or subdue the tone. Because they oxidize with the tint they become part of the host color giving high resistance to fading. The boosters can also be used alone with 10 Volume (3%) BIG OXY BUTTER Developer to create muted to intense fashion tones on bleached hair, (we recommend a test strand to determine the result when doing this) and can be used to highlight darker natural hair levels, the darker the level the less visible will be the tone and reflects of the Boosters. The Booster shades can also be mixed together to create a variety of fashion colors on pre-lightened hair. Try to always add a booster/intensifier to your formula for mid-lengths and ends when working with violets and reds. The hair is more porous in those areas which is why they can tend to brow out. NOTE: It is very important to premix your color formula with the desired mixing ratios of developer before adding in the Booster/Intensifier. (Do not calculate the addition of the Intensifier in with the mixing ratio; tint to developer) 66 R 22 V 11 A Violet Ash Viola Cenere Violeta Ceniza Violet Cendré Violett Asch Red Rosso Rojo Rouge Rot 03 Y Yellow Giallo Amarillo Jaune Gelb 88 B Blue Blu Azul Bleu 33 G Gold Oro Oro Or Gold USE Only Percentages INTENSIFIER PERCENTAGES to enrichen and intensity the hue based on 90 grams total mixture; For shade levels 1 to 4 we recommend the addition of 10-20 grams of intensifier depending on highlight intensity desired. For shade levels 9 to 11 we recommend the addition of 3-5 grams of intensifier depending on highlight intensity desired. CLEAR BOOSTER 00 The 00 Booster is a lift enhancer, pigment lightener multi use product that gives flexibility to the colorist and can be used in many ways Booster 00 will lighten any BIG PRO. Color shade by 1 or 2 levels without the need to increase the peroxide strength Booster 00 will brighten and lift Reds and Coppers making them ultra-luminous and super shiny without diluting the tone. Booster 00 added into the color will help to even out old color banding from previous application overlapping from other brands. Booster 00 can be used alone with 30VOL, 9% or 40VOL, 12% OXY BUTTER and will lift and brighten old tint. Booster 00 mixed with 10VOL, 3% OXY BUTTER will polish and brighten tired color giving extra shine. Booster 00 + 40VOL, 12% OXY BUTTER on Red tint will add Copper glints and on naturally dark hair it will add Copper-Golden tone highlights. Booster 00 can assist with color deposit on resistant hair. Each Booster 00 technique requires specific mixing methods which are explained in more detail following: 38 G Green Verde Verde Vert Grün

USING 00 TO LIGHTEN A SHADE ONE LEVEL OBJECTIVE: You need a lighter color level but there isn t one on the shade chart. Example: you need 7.20 The usual solution would be to use 6.20 and increase the OXY BUTTER from 6% to 9%. This will lighten the color but it will also significantly brighten the undertone, intensifying tone highlight and the melanin making the color more translucent and brilliant especially if there is a high % of grey. SOLUTION: To lift the color shades, 00 Booster mixes 1 to 2, therefore when using 00 to lighten the color, more peroxide is added, but only for the amount of 00 used If you want deep pigmentation and rich coverage by using a 1 to 1 mixing ratio on your standard base-shade, we recommend you first mix the base-shade as normal (in this case 1:1 with OXY BUTTER) then mix the 00 Booster 1:2 with OXY BUTTER in a separate bowl and then blend the two mixes together. The same rules apply when using 1 to 1 ½ mixing ratios. Example: for 1 shade lighter. To lift 6.20 to 7.20: Add 25% 00 into the mixture based on the quantity of tint used and increase the peroxide for the 00 added. Example: 40g 6.20 + 40g 20VOL 6% OXY BUTTER (1 to 1 mix ratio) In another bowl mix 10g 00 + 20g 6% OXY BUTTER (1 to 2 mix ratio) Total mix: 50g tint (6.20 & 00) + 60g 20VOL, 6% OXY BUTTER Quick review: first measure the tint and add the peroxide 1 to 1, or 1 to 1 ½ mix ratio, then measure the 00 and add peroxide 1 to 2 mix ratio. Blend the two mixes together and apply as usual. 6.20 7.20 7.6 9.6 USING 00 TO LIGHTEN A SHADE TWO LEVELS OBJECTIVE: You want to create a 9.6 and we only have 7.6, this time the amount of 00 added would be + 50% (and not 25%) according to the 7.6 tint quantity in grams used. (40g 7.6 to 20g 00 Booster) SOLUTION: Example: Mix: 40g 7.6 + 60g 20VOL 6% OXY BUTTER (1 to 1 ½ mix ratio) Then mix 20g 00 + 40g 20VOL 6% OXY BUTTER (1 to 2 mix ratio). Blend the two mixes together and apply as usual. TOP TIP For those who love deep rich color results, tints work their best using lower volumes of peroxide. Using high volumes of peroxide to lighten a color may cause some eventual color fading, with the exception of light coppers and high lift tints. Using the Booster 00 with the extra peroxide enhances lift without diluting the tone hue, lessening the risk of potential color fading. NOTE: When using the Natural Ash or Intensive Ash shades, the addition of Booster 00 may warm the base undertones, therefore you may need to compensate adding 3g to 5g of 11A Ash Booster to the formula.

USING 00 TO BRIGHTEN AND ILLUMINATE WARM SHADES, REDS & COPPERS Booster 00 can be added into Warm Fashion Shades, Reds and Coppers to give them brightness and brilliance. The base shade stays the same but the color appears brighter more iridescent. Every 10g added into the tint mixture brightens 10%, then use desired mixing ratio with BIG OXY BUTTER. Example: For rich translucency 40g 5.5 + 10g 00 + 75g 20VOL 6% OXY BUTTER (1 to 1 ½ mix ratio) Example: For richer intensity: 40g 5.5 + 10g 00 + 50g 20VOL 6% OXY BUTTER (1 to 1 mix ratio). Review: USING Booster 00 TO LIGHTEN 1 to 2 SHADES the peroxide is doubled to the 00 tint amount. Extra peroxide + 00 lightens the color shade level. OO BOOSTER every 10g added into the tint mixture brightens 10% 10g 20g 30g 00 added to base shade USING 10g Booster 00 TO BRIGHTEN THE COLOR the peroxide mix ratio is standard, 1 to 1 or 1 to 1 ½ or 1 to 2 mixing ratios to the sum of the total tint mixture. The lifting power of 00 brightens and illuminates the color without necessarily lighte-ning it. Every 10 grams added to the mix brightens by 10% the overall highlight effect. USING 00 WHEN COLORING RESISTANT HAIR Booster 00 contains a higher percentage of ammonia than tint and has a slightly higher Ph. Combined with the extra lighte- ning power of 00 and the extra oxygen in the peroxide, 00 helps the tint to penetrate the cuticle easier. The extra Alkalinity raises the cuticle more allowing the color molecules to penetrate deeper into the cortex. Example: Mix 35g tint + 5g 00 Booster, mixing ratio 1 to 1 or 1 to 1 ½ 20VOL 6% for warm shades or 10VOL 3% BIG OXY BUTTER for the natural and Ash shades. USING 00 TO HELP EVEN OUT BANDING Some hair can have bands of color due to overlapping of different brands or due to previous poor applications with other colors. The Booster 00 gives extra power that helps the color applied break-up old tint and create a more even result. Example: 40g of chosen color shade, add 10g of 00 for darker shades 5g of 00 for lighter shades, then use desired mixing ratios of BIG OXY BUTTER as desired. USING Booster 00 TO LIGHTEN 1 to 2 SHADES the peroxide is doubled to the 00 tint amount. Extra peroxide + 00 lightens the color shade level. 00 ASSISTING WITH LIFTING TINT, SMOOTHING OUT BANDING & SHADE LIGHTENING (double process) USING 00 TO LIFTING TINT Booster 00 mixed with 40VOL 12% BIG OXY BUTTER will lift tint by 1, 1½ to 2 levels on darker shades and 2/3 levels on shade levels 6-7 and higher. 1 part 00 + 2 parts 40VOL 12% BIG OXY BUTTER, 15 TO 25 minutes development time, depending on desired lift, works best when placed under a warm dryer. NOTE: apply only over old tint and not to natural regrowth!

DO NOT FORGET: The BIG Booster 00 is also a wonderful opportunity to personalize your color blends when mixed with any of the other shades from the BIG Boosters series! Being the 00 lightens and brightens our base-shades, it opens up the possibility to truly influence the hue and tone of the base-shades by also adding into the mix any of the other Booster shades. Example: Starting with base-shade 6.20 Dark Blonde Int. Violet, and we want to lighten it 2 levels with 50% 00 added to the mixture as shown before, once we have completed the mixture, having added together the 6.20 with the 00, in addition, we can also add an extra 10g of Booster 22V & 10g of Booster 88B directly to the mix with no added peroxide and in this way truly intensify the violet and blue highlights making the overall effect more fashion metallic! VIRGIN COLOR APPLICATION: Starting approximately 1/2 inch (2cm) off the scalp, distribute the color mixture to the mid-lengths and ends of hair. Once completed, re-prepare the color mixture and distribute it evenly on the roots. Allow color to process a minimum of 10-15 minutes or until desired results. Once the processing times is complete, gradually add small amounts of lukewarm water, emulsify the color cream into a rich lather, then abundantly rinse. BIG BACKBAR POST COLOR FIX Leave-in Spray may be used as an alternative to water to emulsify the color cream. The use of this product will neutralize the alkalinity and close the cuticle. RETOUCHING: Evenly distribute the prepared coloring mixture onto the hair s re-growth, allow to process a minimum of 10-15 minutes or until desired results. At the end of the processing time, add a small amount of lukewarm water to any remaining color cream and extend the product onto the hair s lengths and ends. Allow to process until the desired result is achieved. Gradually add small amounts of lukewarm water, emulsify the color cream into a rich lather and abundantly rinse. You may add BIG BACK BAR Color Fix Leave-in Spray to emulsify the color before adding water to stop processing and bring down the ph level. NOTE: After rinsing proceed with BIG BACK BAR Post-Color Shampoo and Post-Color Conditioner to neutralize residual alkalinity and restore the physiological state of hair and scalp. Conclude the color service with BIG BACK BAR Color Fix Leave-in Spray to seal in and protect the resulting beautiful color.

SUPER LIGHTENERS HIGH LIFT BLONDES: Time tables based on medium-fine hair diameter, average porosity, central European hair type. BASIC TIMING: Lift 2-3 Levels MINIMUM 20-25 MINUTES Lift 3-4 Levels MINIMUM 25-35 MINUTES NOTE: (The Ultra Light Super Lighteners can lift up to 4-5 levels when using a gentle heat). Standard High-lift, ultra light shades require more time to lift and deposit. BIG PRO. SUPER SONIC COLOR under normal warm conditions,' a good rule of thumb is to cut-in-half normal processing times. You can add an extra 5-10 minutes when a particular occasion requires extra lift and lightening. To garentee proper lift performance it is very important that the hair is warm. (Strand testing is recommended) * A gentle heat source such as Climazone can be used to speed up development time but the hair should always be allowed to cool down completely before emulsifying and rinsing. 11.0 Ultra Light Natural Blonde Biondo Ultra Chia ro Naturale Rubio Ultra Claro Natural Blond Naturel Ultra-clair Ultra-lichtblond Natur 11.2 Ultra Light Iris é Blonde Biondo Ultra Chia ro Irisé Rubio Ultra Claro Irisé Blond Irisé Ultra-clair Ultra-lichtblond Irisé 11.13 Ultra Light Beige Blonde Biondo Ultra Chiaro Beige Rubio Ultra Claro Beige Blond Beige Ultra-clair Ultra-lichtblond Beige 11.11 Ultra Light Ash Blonde Biondo Ultra Chiaro Cenere Rubio Ultra Claro Ceniza Blond Cendré Ultra-clair Ultra-lichtblond Asch ULTRA-LIGHT FULL HEAD VIRGIN APPLICATION Section the hair into 4 sections and subsection vertical sections approx. 1/2 inch diameter (2 CM). Starting approx. 1 inch (3.5 CM) from the scalp apply the color to mid lengths and ends and develop for 10/15 minutes. Apply to the roots and process for another 10/15 minutes or until desired lift and deposit is achieved. Ideal for creating toned natural looking blondes on base level 7 and upwards. On retouching color services to refresh faded ends add water to remaining tint after regrowth application and work through the hair for 5/10 minutes. You do not mix fresh tint to do this. High lift tints are always used with 30 Volume 9% or 40 Volume 12% BIG OXY BUTTER Developers when lift and deposit is required. BIG PRO. SUPER LIGHTENERS on high percentages of grey/white porous hair can sometimes over deposit. High lift tints contain extra pigments to cancel yellow and if used with lower volumes of peroxide or on light grey/white these tones may be too intense. A strand test is recommended. Depending on DNA origins lifting results may be considerably different from one group to the next. Plus, it is important to determine if there are residues of prior cosmetic pigmentation. Recommended the use warm gentle heat to assure lift. COLOR TIP Attention, adding a cap of bleach cream or powder into the mixture will increase lightening. This will enable the tint to lift more but it will completely alter the toning capacity, in this case it is important to compensate by adding into the mixture Boosters 11A Ash or 22V Violet to compensate deposit-lift ratios. * It is perfectly safe to use 40VOL 12% peroxide with the BIG PRO. SUPER LIGHTENERS on the scalp. The technologies used in our base are designed to protect and cool the scalp during development time.

SUPER LIGHT PERFORMANCE WHEN USING FOILS OR HIGHLITENING PAPERS BIG PRO SUPER LIGHTENERS can lift up to 5 levels on natural hair, base levels 7 and higher and also lift up to 3 levels on tinted hair base level 7 and higher when using high-lightening foils or papers and applying a gentle heat source without damaging the hair structure! (Darker levels will lift less and may develop warm undertones in the majority of situations). You can create beautiful caramel blonde highlights on levels 4, 5, and 6 using the super lift Ultra-Light Blondes and 40 Volume (12%) BIG OXY BUTTER Developer. (NOTE: best to use high-lightening foils and a gentle heat source). TIP: On really difficult to lift hair we recomend adding 20 grams of BIG CREAM BLEACH to the mixture for added lifting power, make sure you compensate depisit & tone with Boosters 11A or 22V. NOTE: We recommend performing a strand test prior to a full head application or highlightening application to gage undertone development and the possible need to supplement toning capacities with the addition of Violet, Ash or Blue Boosters. Level 3 Level 5 Level 7 Level 8 Level 9 Level 10 Levels 1/2 GRAY / SALT-N-PEPPER HAIR Level 11 GRAY / STEEL GREY WHITE / NON-PIGMENTED SPECIAL SUGGESTIONS FOR COVERING STUBBORN RESISTANT WHITE AND GRAY HAIR We recommend beginning application by applying the coloring cream directly onto the most resistant areas first. When working to cover 35% and higher grey/white hair, it is always important to mix a percentage of a natural base tone together with the desired shade objective, this helps to guarantee longer lasting total grey coverage and a more natural looking final color. STANDARD EXAMPLE: Base Level 7, Objective color: 7.35: 35% grey hair: mix 3/4 parts 7.35 with 1/4 part 7.0 at a 1:1/2 ratio with 10 VOL (3%), max 20 VOL (6%) Developer.) Minimum 10-15 minutes processing time. 50% grey hair: mix 1 part 7.35 with 1 part 7.0 at a 1:1/2 ratio with 10 VOL (3%), max 20 VOL (6%) Developer.) Minimum 15-20 minutes processing time. 75% grey hair: mix 1/3 part 7.35 with 2/3 parts 7.0 at a 1:1/2 ratio with 10 VOL (3%), max 20 VOL (6%) Developer.) Minimum 20-25 minutes processing time. 100% grey hair: mix 1/4 part 7.35 with 3/4 parts 7.0 at a 1:1/2 ratio with 10 VOL (3%), max 20 VOL (6%) Developer.) Minimum 25-30 minutes processing time. NOTE: (If your client prefers dense deep color coverage similar to that of Wella, try the above mixing ratios at a 1 to1 dilution with the developer and not 1 ½ dilution, or by applying one tone level darker). BEST TO USE 10 VOL 3% BIG OXY BUTTER when using the Natural Ash and Double Ash series to not generate warm melanin undertones that will beging to show through after several washings.

GRAY HAIR CAN PRODUCE UNDERTONES WHEN LIFTING & DEPOSITING COLOR: The undertones are generated by the lifting action. The undertones combined with the color deposited is what gives the hair its final color result. The chosen color will dominate the final result when it is one-two levels darker than the lightened melanin. Gray hair will always turn yellow when lightened because of the pheomelanin (reddish-yellow) pigment that is still in the hair. The color of the lightened melanin will dominate the final result if the color is the same level or lighter than the natural hair color. All gray hair is not created equal and therefore, will not react the same to coloring, bleaching or toning. Coarse textured gray hair will always react slower and have a longer processing time. Finer textured gray hair will always react quicker and have a shorter processing time. NOTE: On the same head of hair, a mixture of fine, medium and coarse gray hair may be found. In some cases, these different parts of the head may need to be treated with separate timing and formulas. TO KEEP THE TEMPLE AREA FROM GOING DARK AND ASH: In the front temple areas, try applying (a half to a full level lighter) and warming your formula in these areas, as they sometimes tend to grab cooler and darker than the pigmented hair or rest of the head. TO TONE THE YELLOWING OF WHITE OR GRAY, HIGHLIGHTED AND BLONDE HAIR. Hair may tend to become brassy or develop an un-natural color tint - yellow, red, orange or greenish. White hair has no pigment. Although sometimes that's not entirely the case as a hair turns white. And sometimes there's a dark medulla to add color. The lighter the hair overall, the more likely discoloration from any source will show. WHAT CAUSES YELLOWING OF LIGHT-COLORED HAIR? Water chemistry, Hair products, Scalp oils, Smoke, Pollution, Swimming pools and Ocean water, Sunlight, Chemical processes and High-heat styling to name a few. ELIMINATE DISCOLORATION, TONE & BRIGHTEN EXAMPLE: 30g 00 Booster at a 1:1 mixing ratio with 3VOL 1% ACTIVATOR, then add to the mix 3-5g Booster 22V or Booster 88B or a mix of both depending on tone desired. Apply fist to the areas most yellow then eventually evenly distribute throughout the hair from roots to tips, apply heat if necessary. (If the hair is white and has oxidized and discolored up to one level darker, substitue the 3VOL 1% Activator with 10Vol 3% OXY BUTTER). BEFORE AFTER

NATURAL LOOKING COVERAGE OF RESISTANT HIGH% GREY HAIR If you desire a natural looking ash or neutral color result we do not recommend using a straight double ash tint on high percentages of gray hair, even if you want an ash blonde finished result. Grayish/white hair is ash by nature; therefore, if you use a straight double ash.11 series tint on it, you will get very matte ash, metallic results. In most cases, when covering over 50% to 100% gray or salt-&-pepper hair, the desired shade will have to be mixed with either a gold base color or a neutral/natural base.0 shade in order to make up for the lack of pigment in the hair. Therefore working on 100% white (non-pigmented) hair, it is necesary to mix in the missing shades (gold/red), or both as in the natural.0 series, in order to make up for the lack of these natural piments in the white (non-pigmented) hair. To get total gray coverage on resistant white or gray hair 50% or more, you will need to use a level 8.0 natural blonde or darker. (If the hair is a fine texture, level 9 may work). * (Apply gentle heat when extra color penetration, lift and deposit is required) COLOR EXPRESSION Most contemporary clients are more receptive to cosmetic hair color that looks as natural as possible. Our cosmetic color shades, processing technologies, mixing ratios and timing flexibilities allow more creative and expressive freedom to the color technician to deepen and intensify pigmentation as well as create soft natural transparent demi-color brightening. Multi-Chromatic Color Transparency are the key words to natural looking cosmetic hair color. BIG PRO COLOR is formulated and callibrated to create Multi-Chromatic Translucent color results when following the basic coloring rules and guidlines, mixing ratios and processing times. ANALYSIS OF THE NATURAL COLOR OF THE HAIR The natural color of the hair will provide the base with which the artificial color will react. Consequently, a correct analysis of the natural hair color is crucial to achieve the desired result. Hair color is determined genetically. It is produced by a pigment called Melanin, found primarily in the Cortex, occasionally in the Marrow and never in the Cuticle. According to the nature of the pigment, its quantity and distribution in the hair, various colors can be obtained. SPECIALIZING COLOR MIXING AND TIMING METHODS Starting with this point of reference; base level and tone (7.0 Natural Light Brown) Medium-Fine Central European hair. Color mixing and developing is a question of mathematics, timing and mixing ratios can vary depending on desired pigment density or transparency; for a more dense, pigmentmented, intense, richer shade and tone (similar to Wella), extend the processing time 5 to10 minutes and concentrate the mixing ratio down to a 1 : 1 (equal parts) ratio. For soft translucent, color brightening or highlighting try a mixing ratio of 1 : 2 (one part color cream to 2 parts developer) using minimal process times according to hair type. The only limit is the colorists imagination creativity and color knowlege skills.

TEXTURE DEINSITY FACTORS An important variable is the hair texture. Our time tables are calculated for medium - fine hair thickness and strand diameter. If you are working with thicker strands, you will need to add to the processing time and/or mix with a 1 : 1 mixing ratio for more color pigment concentration to fill the thicker strands to the correct intensity. If you have thin strands, you will need far less pigment and may keep to minimum processing times and go as high as a 1 : 2 mixing ratio depending on percentage of grey and intended tone/shade intensity and or transparency desired. Level selection is also very important when dealing with hair texture, density and porosity: A Level 4 shade will make very fine-porous hair appear to be closer to levels 2-3 and thicker larger strand dimensions could appear closer to a levels 5-6. PROPERTIES HAIR DENSITY AND RESISTANCE: Time table based on the three main DNA groups. UNDERSTAND HAIR ZONES. There are three different zones on the hair shaft. The root area (the first ¾ to inch of hair off the scalp) will always take hair color strong and vibrant, the middle section less so, and the last two inches of the strand will always grab cool and dark. When using natural and ash shades, lighten and slightly warm your formula as you move down the shaft to ensure even color from scalp to ends. NATURAL COLORS OF THE HAIR Defining the color of the hair is, from an optical point of view, very complex. Obviously, hair colors differ greatly from one person to another. But what is not so obvious is the fact that there are a large number of hair strands on each individual's head, which are of different colors. Even a single fiber can contain up to ten different colors grouped together, to give the illusion of a color. And the tone of the tips of a hair, often, is not equal to the tone next to the scalp. To complicate matters further, capillary fibers have a dominant color and recessive subtones (reflections) that can only be seen in certain lights.

NATURAL MELANIN PIGMENT FACTORS THE 3 TYPES OF MELANINE Eumelanin - Blue Trichosiderin - Red (characteristic of natural red hair rich in iron, giving reddish color to hair). Pheomelanin - Yellow Trichosiderin the red pigmentation is the hardest pigmentation to lift and eliminate. As shown in the chart according to a persons heratige (DNA) the percentages of Trichosiderin vari from ethnic group to ethnic group. The darker the hair the greater the concentrations of Eumelinin and Tricosiderin the lighter the hair the greater the concentration of Pheomelanin. Eumelanin is the easiest to breakdown and lighten. Tricosiderin takes the longest and is the most difficult to breakdown and lighten. Pheomelanin is greatly influenced by Tricosiderin therefore the orange stage is by far the longest and most difficult to overcome. IMPORTANT TIPS: Procedure for multiple bleach applications: Bleach generates 75% of lift within the first 15-20 minutes of processing. To be able to lift the hair to a pale yellow, level 10-11, using multiple bleach applications with the least amount of damage to the hair or irritation to the scalp, it is very important to never eliminate the bleach between applications with water or shampoo during the procedure. Contact with water or any product containing water during a multiple bleach application will crystalize the yellow in the hair and you will have to work 10 times harder to remove the yellow and arrive to the desired level of blonde. During application keep the product warm and every 15-20 minutes, remove excess bleach with the back of a wide tooth comb or old coloring towel without rubbing the hair, re-apply freshly mixed bleach, gently and evenly working it into the existing bleach on the hair. During the first application apply ¼ inch from the root, on the second application apply to roots and by the end of the second application you will no longer need to apply bleach to the root areas because they will most likely already be lightened. Just work the third application of freshly mixed bleach into the areas along the hairs lengths that need ulterior lifting. Every 15 minutes keep applying fresh bleach to the darker areas until lifted to desired level. Try not to let hair sit without refreshing more than the recommended 15-20 minutes. This will cut down on the overall length of processing time that bleach is on the hair and skin. Once arrived at desired level you can rinse and lightly shampoo, tone and condition. BIG CREAM BLEACH 1+1 is recommended for gentle bleaching on medium to fine hair with lower volume % developers. You can use the multiple application methods with CREAM BLEACH. BIG BLUE BLEACH 1+2 is recommended for stronger lift on medium to coarse heavy hair with higher volumes % of Developer. You can use the multiple application methods with BIG BLUE BLEACH. NOTE: When lifting to a level 10-11 pale yellow, you can use BIG PRO.COLOR ULTRA LIGHT BLONDE 11 Series at 30 Volume 9% on medium-fine hair or 40 Volume 12% on medium coarse heavier hair to lift the extra levels and tone to a beautiful platinum white without further aggression to the hair fibers within 10-15 minutes. HOW TO USE: Shake before use. Apply on hair distributing evenly. Can be applied before, during and after styling. Is compatible with all styling & finishing products. Can be used to neutralize the ph of the color emulsion. It is very important to Follow International Basic Color Application Rules: 1. A correct analysis and evaluation of the hair s porosity and retention capabilities, as well as base level and undertone potential. 2. A correct color mixture corresponding to the desired result. (Strand testing is recommended) 3. A correct and consistent color application. Example: begin color application onto the most resistant areas first. Even carefully placed coverage is essential. 4. A correct pigmentation processing time, according the hair s natural level, undertone compensation, percentage of grey, porosity and retention capabilities. (Apply gentle heat when extra lift and deposit is required) 5. A correct elimination of excess coloring cream by gradually adding tepid water while working the color mixture into a rich lather and correctly rinsing the hair with water that is not too hot! (Very Important!) Optional: Apply Color Fix Leave-in Spray ph 3.5 while massaging the color emulsion to bring down the ph level and close down the cuticle. 6. A correct single application of an acid balancing, low foaming, natural surfactant post-color shampoo, always making sure the water temperature is not too high. Optional: you can work the shampoo directly into the hair color and emulsify. 7. Applying the correct post-color conditioners to help neutralize the ph levels, close down the cuticle, ending with a specific acid leave-in spray locking in the newly oxidized pigmentation. 8. And one of the most important rules is to ask the client to please wait at least 36-48 hours before washing the hair after a fresh color application, using specific high-quality specific color-care bio-ph regulating products. (If the fore mentioned basic rules are not followed correctly there is no existing oxidation hair color on the market that can guarantee penetrating total coverage and intense long lasting results).

EXTRA COLORING TIPS & TECHNIQUES For pink skin tones use shades that have cool or neutral undertones. Neutral lighter shades such as ash and beige or darker shades like violet brown and chocolate are good choices for those with pinkish complexions. For paler skin with a yellow tone, stick with warmer shades such as tabacco brown or strawberry golden blonde. Olive skin tones look best with darker shades of color-treated hair. Women with olive-toned skin can enhance their look by using formulas with hints of gold, honey or auburn in them. To keep it natural-looking, it s a good idea to stay within two levels of the natural hair color. If the client has a dark skin tone, use the skin color as a guide in picking a color. As with olive-skinned counterparts, if the complexion is dark, it s a good idea to select an all-over hair color that isn t too far from the natural color. You can use the skin s undertones as your guide to picking a hue for the color-shade: If the complexion has touches of green or blue, try a shades with warmer golden tones. If the skin has a pinkish tone, balance it out with a cooler, ashier shade. RESTORE YOUTH WITH CONTRAST Create some shadow from root to mid-lengths, lightening towards ends, and you could knock 10 years off your client s look. For example; covering the gray at a level 6 and then adding really pale, level 9 highlights. This depth will not only make her look younger but also create the illusion of thicker, more voluminous hair. THINK BEYOND THE RETOUCH To keep your clients from trying to color hair themselves, offer something they could never replicate. Try not to apply one single process retouch all over the head, This is an excellent opportunity to keep the front of the head lighter while adding depth beneath the crown and nape area. Simply add darker color and equal parts developer to your formula as you progress toward the back of the head. REFRESH PREVIOUSLY COLORED MID-LENGTHS PROPERLY Try not to pull ammoniated permanent haircolor through already colored hair, in time this can cause color to fade even faster. Instead, use the semipermanent BIG COLOR DIRECTs to revive color and to gloss dull lengths for shine. PASTELLING THE GREY: For mature clients that do not want to be slaves to color and regrowth, yet need something to brighten and soften their look try PASTELLING: Base Color: 100% Salt-n-Pepper OBJECTIVE PASTEL BEIGE: Mix 20g 9.31 with 20g 11.13 mix ratio 1:11/2 (30VOL 9%) medium-fine hair (40VOL 12%) medium-coarse hair. Apply evenly all over from roots to tips. Cover with plastic cap, 15 minutes under warm heat fine-medium hair, 20 minu- tes medium-coarse hair. PASTEL SILVER: Mix 20g 9.11 with 20g 11.11 mix ratio 1:11/2 (30VOL 9%) medium-fine hair (40VOL 12%) medium-coarse hair. Apply evenly all over from roots to tips. Cover with plastic cap, 15 minutes under warm heat fine-medium hair, 20 minu- tes medium-coarse hair. PASTEL ROSE GOLD: Mix 20g 9.3 with 20g 11.20 mix ratio 1:11/2 (30VOL 9%) medium-fine hair (40VOL 12%) medium-co- arse hair, then add to the mix 3g 66R and 3g 33G. Apply evenly all over from roots to tips. Cover with plastic cap, 15 minutes under warm heat fine-medium hair, 20 minutes medium-coarse hair.

Ammonia (NH3) versus Monoethanolamine or Ethanolamine, (C2H7NO) Ammonia (NH3) is a compound of hydrogen and oxygen it occurs naturally. It is an important source of nitrogen that is needed by plants and animals. Ammonia is a colorless alkaline gas with a very distinct odor. Ammonia gas can be dissolved in water. This kind of ammonia is called liquid ammonia or aqueous ammonia. Once exposed to open air, liquid ammonia quickly turns into a gas. When used in hair color, approximately 1% ammonia is required to achieve the lift and deposit. Boiling point: 33.3 degrees Celsius = 91.94 Fahrenheit. MEA, also found as Monoethanolamine or Ethanolamine, (C2H7NO) is a reactive chemical compound created by the reaction of ethylene oxide with ammonia, meaning it's an ammonia derivative, it exists in a liquid form, and has almost no odor. Is not water soluble and when used in hair color, approximately 10% MEA is required to achieve less lift and deposit than is achieved with 1% ammonia. Boiling point: 170,5 C degrees Celsius = 338.9 Fahrenheit. The amount of MEA used in a particular hair color is what creates potentially negative results. The amount of MEA in hair color varies from shade to shade. With MEA, it is not uncommon to have 6% in darker shades and over 10% in the lightest blonde shades. For ammonia, the amounts range from 1.0% in the dark shades and up to 3.5% in the high lift shades. Hair color is stable and inert until mixed with a developer (hydrogen peroxide, H2O2). Ammonia and MEA are both alkalizers used in hair color that react with the developer when mixed. Ammonia is always the safer of the two ingredients to use in hair color. Ammonia turns into a gas and is completely removed after the service is completed. MEA leaves a residue that remains in the hair and on the skin, and when dry it is not harmful; however, when in contact with water the residual MEA left will re-alkalize, causing fading, drying and other various disorders! Procter&Gamble completed a study listed on the National Institute of Health's website in Feb, 2014 which stated, "all methods show an increase in damage and irritation from MEA-based formulations, up to 85% versus ammonia..." Another study Copyright April 2012 from Japanese Society for Investigative Dermatology states, "Hydrogen Peroxide and Monoethanolamine are the key causative ingredients for hair dye induced dermatitis and hair loss." So to conclude: MEA is not as safe to use as Ammonia. MEA requires 10 times the amount in hair color to do a less effective job. MEA is impure, leaves residues, causes scalp dermatitis and hair loss. MEA is a harsh chemical that is derived from ammonia, and is not more or less organic. Ammonia has been used in hair coloring for over 150 years where MEA has been applied only 17 years in the market. Ammonia is the next simplest molecular structure in nature, second only to water.
