13 WOW allowed me to put into practise the skills I ve been learning at WelTec SKYE Hairdressing Student Through WelTec, Skye was given the opportunity to work backstage at WOW (World of WearableArt ). Skye first came to WelTec as a secondary school student, and enrolled in the STAR Hairdressing programme. She completed the New Zealand Certificate in Hairdressing (Salon Support) while working part-time at Balliage Hair Salon shampooing clients. A highlight of Skye s year was getting work experience at WOW, where she styled the hair of six models each night. Working on WOW was an amazing opportunity. It was surreal seeing my work on stage, and so cool seeing the models in character. Skye will be part of Te Auaha next year doing the Level 4 New Zealand Certificate in Hairdressing (Emerging Stylist).

19 Beauty therapy is an incredibly rewarding career. With training and experience there are so many options. Build up your clients, work hard and you ll achieve your goals NATASHA Diploma in Beauty Therapy Graduate Natasha is managing the Bay Spa on Oriental Parade, which offers face, body and beauty treatments. Natasha began her studies at WelTec as a secondary school student, through the Trades Academy programme. She then went on to do the Level 3 City and Guilds Certificate, and Level 5 CIDESCO Diploma in Beauty Therapy, where she was awarded the top CIDESCO therapist. Natasha says she thoroughly enjoyed her time at WelTec, and values the relationships she formed along the way. I still keep in touch with my former classmates and tutors and find their advice invaluable. The range of skills that Natasha learnt at WelTec has been invaluable for her. I am able to apply the skills I learnt at WelTec in a practical way and achieve positive results for my clients, which is very satisfying. Many people working in Beauty Therapy have come out of WelTec it s a great starting place for our industry!
