What has changed since the January 30 th Uniform Forum? Upper school students may choose whether or not to wear the uniform sweaters everyday over their dress shirts. Sweaters will be required for Dress Uniform. Added optional long-sleeved drifter sweater for 4-6 girls which can substitute for the sweater vest (required everyday Nov-Feb, optional otherwise) No required skirt length for K-3 Lands End jumpers. Existing Item Grandfathering To ease the transition for our families, specific items already owned that match the look of the new uniform policy may be worn. A Few Details All students are required to have a Dress Uniform. Dress Uniforms may be worn on any school day. K-6 girls are required to wear bike shorts under their skirts or jumpers unless they are wearing tights or leggings. 4-12 girls are required to wear a camisole or undershirt under their white blouses. In very cold weather, K-6 girls may wear sweatpants with no ankle elastic for recess. Spirit wear, including hoodies, may only be worn for recess or after school hours, not in the classroom. A note about skirt length 4-6 skirt length requirement is at the knee or longer When the student is standing, the skirt hem must touch some part of the knee cap. This is a bit shorter than the upper school requirement, allowing fast-growing girls to get more wear out of their uniforms. This applies to any grandfathered skirt or K-3 jumper. 7-12 skirts length requirement is at or below the bottom of the knee cap When the student is standing, if you can see the knee cap, the skirt is too short. A Note About Girls Boots Boots are part of the uniform policy to provide warmth for girls in skirts. Please choose boots that are: Flat Plain Black Dress Medium to tall in height UGG-style plain black boots are OK Please avoid boots that could be described as: Ankle boots Rain boots Duck boots Cowboy boots Combat style boots Snow boots Boots with laces February 11, 2014 Proposal
A note about Lands End Dress Shirts The following note will be placed on the Lands End ordering website for Providence: Beginning next year (2014-2015 school year) the Lands' End pin-point no-iron oxford for boys and men is the shirt included in the uniform policy. Please note that if you purchase this shirt, it will require ironing. Though crisp and comfortable once pressed, it is not a truly "no-iron" shirt. Because of this issue, until the 2017-2018 school year, any vendor that provides a white, long sleeve, button down oxford shirt is allowed. During this time frame, we will be working with Lands' End and researching to find a better shirt to include in the uniform policy. February 11, 2014 Proposal
