HCA UNIFORM POLICY The wearing f unifrms at HCA accmplishes a number f valuable bjectives. Unifrms instill in students a sense f belnging and lyalty t the schl cmmunity. Student behavir and prductivity are generally imprved when students wear unifrms. Wearing a prescribed unifrm helps de-emphasize fashin cnsciusness and diminishes tendencies t frm sciecnmic cliques. Mst families find that purchasing unifrms csts less than buying the typical student wardrbe and unifrms help reduce family cnflicts ver what t buy and what t wear. Unifrms serve a practical purpse f safety since students are easily identifiable n field trips and persns nt in unifrm are easily sptted n ur campus. Finally, unifrms lk nice and help create a psitive impressin f ur students and ur schl within the cmmunity. Unifrms may be purchased at sme Sears stres that have cntracts with Land s End Schl, the unifrm divisin. The clsest stres are in Asheville and Winstn Salem. Please keep the fllwing infrmatin in mind when purchasing unifrms and when making daily unifrm chices: T hnr Gd and uphld the way He created bys and girls differently, unifrms will be distinctly feminine fr girls and distinctly masculine fr bys. Girls may purchase the feminine cut pl shirts called fit-fr-her in prper clrs specified in age apprpriate categries. Remember when rdering Tight-fitting clthing is nt allwed. Shirts shuld nt reveal midriff skin even when bending r raising arms. Because f differences in quality, clr, and material all unifrm items must be purchased thrugh HCA s apprved suppliers except belts, scks, shes, and tights. HCA hdies have been eliminated fr the 2017-2018 schl year and beynd. Hdies will NOT be allwed in classrms. The navy windbreaker jacket frm Read s Unifrms may be purchased t wear utdrs during schl hurs. All ther uterwear must be remved upn arrival t schl. All skirts and skrts must tuch the knee, as defined by the crease in the back f the knee. It is unacceptable fr skirts r skrts t be rlled up in rder t shrten the length. Hair clrings must be mdest and natural in appearance. 3. N head cverings may be wrn at schl (i.e. - bandanas, hats, kerchiefs, etc.) Hats may be wrn at specific functins as directed by the schl. 4. N visible tatts (temprary r permanent) are allwed. 5. Hair styles must nt be hanging dwn in the eyes fr girls r bys. Bys hair shuld be abve the eyebrws, cver n mre than half the ear, and ff the cllar. 6. Bys participating in athletics must keep their hair cut accrding t cnference rules and guidelines. Mnthly Dress Dwn Friday: (September-May) One Friday each mnth (as assigned by the administratin) will be designated as Dress Dwn Friday. On these days, students may wear blue jeans (r any unifrm bttms) and PE unifrm shirt (r sweatshirt) chices, HCA Spirit wear purchased thrugh HCA r any ptinal unifrm shirt. Belts are ptinal. The jeans must fit prperly (n baggies, n hles, n skinny jeans, n jeggings, n appliqués, n embellishments, n dazzles, nt t tight). Shirts must be tucked int the jeans and nrmal unifrm tennis shes must be wrn. Shuld a student chse nt t participate in the Dress Dwn Friday, he must wear his nrmal unifrm n that day. Any student wh chses nt t abide by the stated guidelines fr Dress Dwn days may be prhibited frm participating in future days as deemed apprpriate by the administratin.
