For the colder months ahead, childrenchic kids are layering up in textured tweeds, soft velvets and cozy cabled knits from a new collection inspired by the Spanish countryside but tailored for the city. Cropped bolero cardigans top floral a-line shift dresses and pastoral print blouses for girls. Voluminous charcoal flannel capes finished with grosgrain bows add volume while elegant faux fur mufflers bring warmth. Boys sport plaid popover shirts with slim fit 5-pocket trousers, polished off with suspenders and quilted puffer vests. making an impact El Buen Coser is a cooperative of women sewers based in Petare, one of the most violent and poverty-stricken slums in Latin America, located in Caracas, Venezuela. The cooperative was founded 10 years ago by a woman named Consuelo who was determined to elevate women, like herself, out of poverty by teaching them sewing skills. The founders of childrenchic are inspired by the entrepreneurial spirit of El Buen Coser and committed to making a positive impact in their native country by providing work opportunities to women. For this reason, childrenchic has partnered with the cooperative to create the company s dust bags.
