Activities of Gdynia Cotton Association Established in 1935 Mission of the GCA: to create an economically and structurally strong cotton sector in Poland and on the international arena, by enhancing both the activities of its members and also those of the institutions, authorities and organisations interested in cotton and other fibres. International co-operation of the GCA: o International Cotton Advisory Committee (since 1991); o Universal Cotton Standards Conference (since 1958); o Committee for International Co-operation between Cotton Associations (since 1978); o European Cotton Confederation (since 1998); o EUROCOTON Committee of the Cotton and Allied Textile Industries of the EU (since 2005).

Activities of Gdynia Cotton Association dissemination of "By-laws and Rules" of the GCA which are the basis for international contracts for sale-purchase of cotton; promotion of the frame contract for selling-buying cotton in Polish and English, whose clauses are concordant with the "By-laws and Rules" of the GCA; settling of quality and technical disputes arising from contracts of sale-purchase of cotton by the Court of Arbitration at the Gdynia Cotton Association; granting licenses for domestic and international cotton emblems; testing of cotton; organisation of cotton classification courses in Polish, English, and Russian; maintaining contacts and co-operation with international cotton institutions and organisations; representation of interests of its members before state authorities, international institutions and other organisations.

THE GCA COOPERATION WITH THE ICAC Since 1991, the Gdynia Cotton Association has been closely cooperating with the International Cotton Advisory Committee. The GCA representatives take part in the works of the following ICAC panels: Private Sector Advisory Panel (PSAP) Task Force on Commercial Standardization of Instrument Testing of Cotton (CSITC) International Forum For Cotton Promotion (IFCP) The Gdynia Cotton Association was the organiser of the 62ND PLENARY MEETING OF THE ICAC, which was held in Gdansk, Poland, in 2003 The Meeting was attended by ca. 500 delegates from 42 countries. http://gca.org.pl/pl_pl/62-sesja-plenarna-icac-polska-gdansk-7-12-wrzesnia-2003-62nd-plenary-meetingof-the-icac-poland-gdansk-7-12-september-2003/
