Mexican designers and brands are working hard to get more recognition in the international market through the enhancement of their fashion, design and trends products. Mexico is determined to become a country that offers not only maquila, but a highly productive and innovative products. In 2008, the textile and clothing industry contributed with 3.72 percent of Mexico s gross domestic product (GDP) in the manufacturing area. It is estimated that it will sustain a 10.4 percent average annual growth rate from 2008 to 2013, generating 4.5 billion dollars at the end of such period. Regarding production volume, the Mexican shoe market grew 9.1 percent between 2004 and 2008 and it produced 273.5 million pairs. It is estimated that it will increase to 366.3 million pairs by the end of 2013, with an estimated 6 percent average annual growth rate between 2008 and 2013.
