UNIFORM AND DRESS CODE POLICY 2017-2018 ALL GRADES GIRLS & BOYS Mdesty and Apprpriateness: Students must dress apprpriately and mdestly at all schl-related events and cmpetitins, and any time they are n schl prperty. (Fr specific guidelines fr dress during after-schl hurs and schl events, see Sectin D.) Vendrs: Schl Time is the primary vendr fr the 2017-18 Schl Year. Fashin Wrld is als an apprved vendr. Unifrm items nt sld at JPG, Schl Time, r Fashin Wrld can be purchased frm any vendr f the family s discretin, s lng as all unifrm guidelines are met. JPG Patch: Unifrm items with the JPG lg must be purchased frm Schl Time r Fashin Wrld. The JPG patch and digital lg transfer are bth acceptable ptins. Sizing & Cnditin: All clthing items must be sized prperly. N versized r undersized unifrms. Unifrms must be clean, neat, and in gd repair (e.g., withut hles). Mass Unifrms: Students must wear all parts f the Mass unifrm fr the entire day, unless therwise instructed by a teacher. Undershirts: Only slid white undershirts may be wrn under unifrm shirts. N turtlenecks are allwed. Undershirts must be wrn under all white shirts. Marked Items: Students names must be indelibly written n the inside cllar f all blazers, sweaters, jackets and cardigans, and n the inside f tte bags and backpacks. Backpacks: Backpacks are nt restricted t ne clr, but they cannt have images r pictures frm ppular media n them (e.g. celebrities, Disney, etc.). Field Trip T-Shirts and Spirit Wear: Bth are sld thrugh JPG nly. GUIDELINES FOR GIRLS ALL GRADES GIRLS Skirts: All dresses/skirts must cver the entire knee when standing. As students grw, they shuld adjust the hem, use the swap shp, r btain a new skirt as needed. 1
Shirts: All buttn-up shirts must be buttned apprpriately, t ensure mdesty. All shirts must be tucked int skirts. Shirts must be free f lgs and ther designs (except the JPG lg, where applicable). Shirts cannt have ribbed edges, but pckets are acceptable. Sleeves: Shirt, jacket, and cardigan sleeves may never be rlled up. Scks / Tights: Scks must be black, navy, r white, and they cannt have lgs r designs. Scks must cver the entire ankle bne, be visible abve the she line, and cannt be rlled dwn. Black r navy tights r leggings may be wrn under skirts, especially in wintertime. Pants are never permitted t be wrn under skirts. Scks are nt necessary when wearing tights. The Academy is cnfident that clearly stating these expectatins will prevent any unfrtunate situatins during which it becmes necessary t deny entry r dismiss anyne frm an event. All students must adhere t the fllwing dress cde when attending schl n a free dress day, staying n-campus after schl, r attending any schl-spnsred event, whether n-campus (such as athletic practice r training, sprts games, and club meetings) r ff-campus (such as field trips, pilgrimages, and scials). All clthing shuld fit apprpriately, and allw the wearer t mve arund and sit dwn cmfrtably. Excessively tight r frm-fitting clthing ught t be avided. Pants in particular shuld nt be excessively tight. Yga pants and leggings (wrn alne) must be avided. Shrts must adhere t the fingertip rule (reach at least t the bttm f ne s fingertips when standing). Depending n the bdy type, sme students will need t have shrts lnger than finger-tip length t be apprpriately mdest. All dresses and skirts must be lng enugh t cver the knee when standing. All shirts must have tw shulder straps at least 1 inch r 2 finger widths wide. N strapless, spaghetti strap, halter, backless, r therwise revealing tps allwed. Necklines shuld nt reach mre than 4 fingers r a hand s width belw the cllarbne. Care must be taken that undergarments are nt shwn thrugh uter clthes r withut being cvered prperly. ENFORCEMENT OF UNIFORM POLICY The simplest way t state the schl s plicy tward unifrms is that we mean business we pick ur battles ver unifrms in rder t avid battles ver mre serius cncerns. Of curse, enfrcement f this plicy starts at hme between parents and students. We hpe all ptential vilatins will be fixed at hme s the faculty and staff can fcus n educating students. An autmatic demerit is earned fr being ut f unifrm. At the discretin f the Headmaster, parents may be required t rectify immediately any vilatin f the unifrm plicy. This may include bringing the apprpriate unifrm item t schl r taking the student hme, s please be practive in aviding such situatins. Persistent vilatins f the dress cde are treated as disciplinary prblems, and therefre culd result in dismissal frm the schl. 6
