Methodist College Attire for Winter School Uniform (revised as in 2017) Attire for Boys A. Shirts and Ties 1. All must wear white long-sleeved shirts with buttons for students (without patterns). 2. The collar should be without buttons. 3. There should be a pocket without buttons and flaps on the left chest with the school badge attached. 4. The holes of the buttons should be without flaps. The back of the shirt should be without pleats. 5. The sleeves of the shirt should be buttoned. 6. The shirt should be tugged properly into the trousers. 7. All must put on white underwear. 8. The school tie should be tied properly at the throat. B. Slacks 1. All must wear grey straight leg slacks. 2. The slacks should be plain without logos and accessories. 3. Boys must wear a plain black belt with buckle. C. Sweaters, windbreakers or other winter clothing 1. Boys may wear the school sweater, vest or windbreaker. Other jackets are not acceptable. 2. Boys may also wear deep blue plain sweaters or cardigans or vests with the school badge either sewn or pinned on the clothing. 3. The sweater should not be used as a scarf to be placed on the shoulder. Neither should the sleeves of the sweater be folded. The sweater should not be put around the waist. 4. Students may wear scarves and gloves of pure black. 5. Students may wear down jackets or Chinese cotton jacket in pure black. D. Shoes and socks 1. Boys must wear pure black leather shoes. 2. Boots and casual shoes with accessories are not allowed. 3. Boys must wear black or white socks without logos or lace. 4. The length of the socks must reach the ankles. E. Hair Style 1. The guiding principle is simple and pure. 2. Pay attention to personal hygiene and tidiness. 3. The hair at the side should not cover the ears. The fringe should not cover the eyes. The hair
at the back should not reach the collar of the shirt. 4. Hair should not be perm or dyed. No gel or wax is allowed. F. Glasses, accessories and others 1. The glasses should be practical and simple. It is not advised to follow fashion brands or trend. 2. No accessories are allowed including earrings, bracelets, rings, pins or any other badges not recognized by the school. 3. Necklaces should not be exposed. 4. Combs, key rings, accessories for mobile should not be worn as accessories and exposed. 5. No perfume or cologne. Attire for Girls A. School dresses 1. All must wear pure grey felt school dresses. 2. The length of the dress must be able to reach the knee. Pay attention to it especially after growing taller. 3. Girls must wear a grey felt belt. 4. 1. Girls must wear plain black flat sole leather shoes. 2. No boots and casual shoes with accessories are allowed. 3. Girls must wear grey socks or panty hose without logos or laces. 4. The length of the socks must reach half of the leg. E. Hair style and accessories 1. The guiding principle is pure and simple. 2. Hair should be kept clean and tidy. Pay attention to personal hygiene. 3. If girls wear hair that reaches the shoulder, the hair should be tied properly. The fringe must not cover the eyes. 4. No dyeing is allowed. Hair gel and wax is prohibited. 5. The accessories for hair should be simple in black, white and blue. F. Glasses, accessories or others 1. Glasses should be practical but not for accessory. It is not encouraged to follow fashion trend or label. 2. For girls with a hole on their earlobe, they may wear earrings that are dotted and rounded or an ear pin. The earrings can only be worn on the earlobes. There should not be more than one earring on each ear. 3. No accessories like bracelets, rings, pins or badges are allowed. 4. Necklaces should not be exposed. 5. Combs, key rings, mobile accessories should not be exposed as accessories. 6. No make up is allowed. Perfume, skin care products with colours or finger polish is prohibited. Sports Clothing 1. If there is P.E. lesson, students may choose to wear either tidy school uniform or school sports wear (with slacks) to school. Students may wear black long-sleeved tee shirts under PE school tee shirts when necessary. 2. Sports shoes should be mainly white in colour. 3. Unless students put on tidy school sports wear, sports shoes can only be worn during P.E. lessons. Reminders 1. Unless otherwise specified by the school, all students must put on tidy winter school uniform to school in accordance with the attire mentioned above. 2. If students go to school on non-teaching days, they should follow the guidelines on students attire on non-teaching days. 3.
