Export Performance of India s Textile and Clothing (T&C) Products 1.0 Introduction: As per the DGCI&S data, the export of textile and clothing products during the period April-November of 2016 declined by 4.04% to USD 23,489.91 million against USD 24,479.86 million during the same period for 2015. In Rupee terms, there is a negative growth of 0.38% from Rs. 1,58,007.91 crore to Rs. 1,57,415.12 crore. It is important to note that about 53% of the export of India belongs to textiles and 47% clothing. Details may be seen at Annexure-I. The export of textile products during the period Apr-Nov 2016 declined by 7.33% to USD 12,526.59 million as against USD 13,517.90 million during the same period for 2015. In Rupee terms, there is a negative growth of 3.79% from Rs. 87,252.76 crore to Rs. 83,945.60 crore. Similarly the export of Clothing products during the period Apr-Nov 2016 increased by 0.01% to USD 10,963.32 million against USD 10,961.96 million during the same period for 2015. In Rupee terms, there is a growth of 3.84% from Rs. 70,755.14 crore to Rs. 73,469.51 crore. 2. Product-wise analysis is as under: 1.1 Export Performance of Textile Products 1. Cotton Fabrics, made-ups etc: Export value of Cotton fabrics, made-ups etc, was USD 3389.25 million during Apr-Nov 2016 (Rs. 22712.67 crore) showing negative growth of 3.77% (-0.09 in rupee terms) as compared to previous year during same period. 2. Manmade yarn, fabrics, made-ups: Export value of Manmade yarn, fabrics, made-ups etc, was USD 2924 million during Apr-Nov 2016 (Rs. 19596 crore) showing negative growth of 8.86% (-5.37 in rupee terms) as Page 1 of 6

Cotton Yarn: Export value of Cotton yarn was USD 1998.99 million during Apr-Nov 2016 (Rs. 13396.03 crore) showing negative growth of 18.45% (-15.33 in rupee terms) as Export in quantity terms has also gone down from 8.71 lakh MT to 6.98 lakh MT (-19.84%). The average unit value realization is marginally higher than the previous year. 4. Handcrafts (Excl. Handmade carpets): Export value of handcrafts (excl. handmade carpets) was USD 1322.24 million during Apr-Nov 2016 (Rs. 8860.83 crore) showing positive growth of 20.65% (25.26% in rupee terms) as 5. Carpet (Excl. Silk) Handmade: Export value of Carpet (Excl. Silk) was USD 968.64 million during Apr-Nov 2016 (Rs. 6491.90 crore) showing positive growth of 1.99% (5.89% in rupee terms) as compared to previous year during same period. Export in quantity terms has also shown positive growth from 658.51 lakh Sqm to 694.99 lakh Sqm (5.54%). 6. Cotton Raw including Waste: Export value of Cotton raw including waste was USD 515.19 million during Apr-Nov 2016 (Rs. 3452.48 crore) showing negative growth of 43.74% (-41.59% in rupee terms) as compared to previous year during same period. Export in quantity terms has also declined from 6.24 lakh MT to 3.39 lakh MT (-45.77%). The average unit value realization is marginally higher than the previous year. 7. Manmade staple fibre: Export value of Manmade staple fibre was USD 373.15 million during Apr-Nov 2016 (Rs. 2500.62 crore) showing positive growth of 9.20% (13.38 in rupee terms) as compared to previous year during same period. Export in quantity has also shown positive growth from 2362 lakh kg to 2614 lakh kg (10.68%). 8. Other textiles yarn, fabric made-ups article: Export value of Other textiles yarn, fabric made-ups article was USD 235.53 million during Apr- Nov 2016 (Rs. 1578.37 crore) showing positive growth of 3.63% (7.59% in rupee terms) as 9. Handloom products: Export value of Handloom products was USD 232.57 million during Apr-Nov 2016 (Rs. 1558.53 crore) showing negative growth of 7.14% (-3.59 in rupee terms) as compared to previous year during same period. Coir and Coir manufactures: Export value of coir and coir manufactures was USD 190.92 million during Apr-Nov 2016 (Rs. 1279.43 crore) showing positive growth of 21.04% (25.67% in rupee terms) as compared to previous year during same period. 11. Woolen yarn, fabrics, made-ups: Export value of Woolen yarn, fabrics, made-ups etc, was USD 110.55 million during Apr-Nov 2016 (Rs. 740.86 crore) showing negative growth of 13.88% (-10.59 in rupee terms) as Rest of the products whose export is less than 100 millions USD are enclosed in Annexure-II. 1.2 Export Performance of Clothing Products 1. RMG Cotton Incl. Accessories: Export value of Cotton RMG incl. accessories was USD 5379.96 million during Apr-Nov 2016 (Rs. 36053.20 crore) showing negative growth of 6.12% (-2.54% in rupee terms) as 2. RMG Manmade: Export value of Manmade RMG was USD 3084.68 million during Apr-Nov 2016 (Rs. 20671.66 crore) showing positive growth of 12.85% (17.17% in rupee terms) as compared to previous year during same period. 3. RMG of other textiles material: Export value of RMG of other textiles material was USD 2227.36 million during Apr-Nov 2016 (Rs. 14926.42 crore) showing positive growth of 5.52% (9.56% in rupee terms) as 4. RMG Wool: Export value of Wool RMG was USD 158.70 million during Apr-Nov 2016 (Rs. 1063.50 crore) showing negative growth of 23.26% (-20.33% in rupee terms) as compared to previous year during same period. 5. Annexure-II 1. Jute Hessian: Export value of Jute hessian was USD 90.69 million during Apr-Nov 2016 (Rs. 607.73 crore) showing positive growth of 19.36% (23.92% in rupee terms) as 2. Other Jute Manufactures: Export value of other jute manufactures was USD 78.32 million during Apr-Nov 2016 (Rs. 524.85 crore) showing positive growth of 1.50% (5.38% in rupee terms) as compared to previous year during same period. 3. Natural Silk yarn, fabrics, made-ups: Export value of Natural silk yarn, fabrics, made-ups etc, was USD 43.34 million during Apr-Nov 2016 (Rs. 290.42 crore) showing negative growth of 28.29% (-25.55 in rupee terms) as 4. Floor Covering of Jute: Export value of Floor covering of jute was USD 25.12 million during Apr-Nov 2016 (Rs. 168.35 crore) showing positive growth of 14.18% (18.54% in rupee terms) as compared to previous year during same period. Export in quantity terms has also shown positive growth from 32.47 lakh Sqm to 35.73 lakh Sqm (10.04%). 5. Silk waste: Export value of Silk waste was USD 10.63 million during Apr- Nov 2016 (Rs. 71.20 crore) showing positive growth of 17.10% (21.58% in rupee terms) as Export in quantity terms has also shown positive growth from 9.43 lakh kg to 13.98 lakh kg (48.29%). 6. Jute Raw: Export value of Jute raw was USD 7.68 million during Apr-Nov 2016 (Rs. 51.45 crore) showing negative growth of 1.54% (in rupee terms it is showing positive growth i.e. 2.22%) as compared to previous year during same period. Export in quantity terms has also declined from 13253 MT to 11546 MT (-12.88%). 7. Jute Yarn: Export value of Jute yarn was USD 5.44 million during Apr-Nov 2016 (Rs. 36.45 crore) showing negative growth of 63.13% (-61.72% in rupee terms) as Export in quantity terms has also gone down from 14112 MT to 4476 MT (-68.28%). The average unit value realization is marginally higher than the previous year. Page 5 of 6

Silk Carpet: Export value of Silk carpet was USD 3.93 million during Apr- Nov 2016 (Rs. 26.31 crore) showing positive growth of 138% (147% in rupee terms) as Export in quantity terms has also shown positive growth from 17629 Sqm to 18055 Sqm (2.42%). 9. Wool Raw: Export value of Wool raw was USD 0.19 million during Apr-Nov 2016 (Rs. 129.87 lakh) showing positive growth of 1.38% (5.26% in rupee terms) as Export in quantity terms has also shown positive growth from 47732 kg to 94234 kg (97.42%). The average unit value realization is marginally higher than the previous year. 10. Silk Raw: Export value of Silk raw was USD 0.04 million during Apr-Nov 2016 (Rs. 24.12 lakh) showing negative growth of 82.91% (-82.25 in rupee terms) as Export in quantity terms has also gone down from 7747 kg to 2934 kg (-62.13%).
