Product Data 342 Spraying Enamel PRODUCTS 342 Spraying Enamel Colour 342 Reducer R303-Normal Conditions, R203-Hot Conditions Product Description A premium air dry spraying enamel based on the latest alkyd resin technology, especially formulated for finishing of all types of vehicles including trucks, buses and trailers etc. Available Colours Colour mixing formulations for most vehicle manufacturers colours are available dating back to 1965, also available in some metallic colours and in RAL and Australian Standard colours. Preparation of Substrates Ensure that all surfaces to be coated are clean and dry and free from all traces of oil and grease. Steel: New steel sheet: Treat new steel sheet with 971 metal Conditioner Do not allow the solution to dry, but wipe off with clean cloths. Rinse well with water to remove excess acid then wipe dry with clean cloths. Apply 404 Automotive Enamel Undercoat or 404 NS primer immediately after preparation of the clean surface. Aluminium: Bare aluminium surfaces should be thoroughly cleaned using R123 Wax and Grease remover before sanding, if necessary use a high grade scouring pad to remove heavy areas of grease and imperfections, all this is to be done in a wipe on wipe off motion using clean rags. Once dry, thoroughly abrade the surface using P240 grit on an orbital sander or by hand rubbing using P320. Once sanded the aluminium should be thoroughly blown down then cleaned with a 1:1 solution mix of R207 Methylated Spirits and clean water, using a wipe on wipe off action this must be repeated until no residue shows on the cleaning cloths. *NOTE: The prepared aluminium must be primed within 6 hours after the preparation process; failure to do this will allow the aluminium to re-oxidise. Apply 426 Vinyl Etch or 429 Paraphos Primer Surfacer or 406/413 Two pack Etch Primer. 2 2011 Protec Pty Ltd

Fibreglass, (GRP): Wash surface thoroughly using a mixture of warm water and detergent to remove waterborne release agents. Rinse with clean water and wipe dry Lightly dry sand entire surface with P320 grit paper Blow down then thoroughly clean the surface with R123 Wax and Grease remover, working in small areas then thoroughly wiping each section completely dry with clean cloths. Prime with 404 Enamel Undercoat or 404 NS Primer. Previously painted surfaces: Remove all loose and flaking paint, rust etc. with power/hand tool combination. Spot prime all bare steel areas Before proceeding with the coating of any previously painted surface, a test patch should be done. Providing there has been no frying or other film defect, proceed as above. If any lifting or frying is evident, strip back to bare metal with 186 Superstrip Paint Remover. Please note: Substrate other than those stated should be tested before use, to ensure that the performance of the product is suitable for the intended use. Cleaning: Before and after any sanding operation, the substrate must be thoroughly degreased with Protec R123 wax & grease remover to remove all traces of dirt, oil, grease, silicone, wax etc. NOTE: Tape and recoat times refer to a 40 micron dry film dried for a minimum of 16 hours at 25 C and 60% Relative Humidity. Curing and recoat under adverse conditions may be improved with the addition of UAE 369. MIXING RATIO: UAE 369 Add 500 mls of UAE 369 to 4 litres of 342 Spraying Enamel. Once UAE 369 has been added the material must be used within a 8 hour period and cannot be used the following day. 3 2011 Protec Pty Ltd

Application Guide: Mixing ratio: By volume: 342 Spraying Enamel 100 Parts Reducer Up to 25% Spraygun Setup: Conventional Suction 1.8 2.0 mm Spray Pressure: Application: 45-65 psi 350-450 kpa 2 full, wet, even coats allowing flash-off between coats = 50-60 microns dry film build. *NOTE: Do not apply when temperature is either below 10 C or within 3 degrees above the dew point or relative humidity exceeds 85%. Flash Off Time: 10-15 minutes between coats @ 25 C. (dependant of film build) Drying Times: Drying of 342 Spraying Enamel is very dependent on temperature and humidity and it will not cure at temperatures below 5 C, or within 3 C of the dew point. Air Dry Only: Dust free 1 hour Tack Free 3-4 hours Ready to Tape 16 hours Recoat 16 hours Hard dry overnight under normal conditions 4 2011 Protec Pty Ltd

Performance Guidelines Drying times will vary dependent on temperature, flash off between coats, number of coats used. Is suitable for brush application in small areas. In the case of metallic colours, finish off with a light coat to produce an even metallic finish. DO NOT attempt to wash or polish the painted surface unless thoroughly dry, a 3-4 week drying period is recommended. 41% Volume Solids (Depending on Colour). To avoid recoat issues use only the recommended reducers. Use of 369 UAE converts 342 Spraying Enamel into a 2-pack urethane enamel and all precautions and safeguards associated with the use of isocyanate containing materials must be adhered to. This includes handling, mixing and spraying. Excessive coats may result in a wrinkled film or delayed drying times.
