Where creative colorists mix!

Scruples Color Art Conditioning Color Gloss 0 ammonia-free, pure base mixing colors are all you need to produce over 50 no-lift, deposit-only haircolors Scruples COLOR ART is a revolutionary ammonia free, deposit-only haircolor gloss. It consists of only 0 pure base mixing color gels and a clear base that will produce over 50 rich haircolors from shimmering blondes and brilliant reds to sultry browns. Pastel blonde toners complete the color range available in COLOR ART. The 0 pure base mixing colors will allow you to mix a limitless number of original color tones. Start with the formulas provided or mix the colors to express your creativity while reducing your color inventory by over 70%. Formulated without ammonia, there is no offensive odor. Instead, the color mixture, when mixed with the COLOR ART Processing Solution, has a fresh berry aroma that is pleasant to use. The no-lift, deposit-only color formula is easy to use, since COLOR ART will not lift the client s natural hair color level, and there is never development of unwanted underlying tone. Provides unsurpassed gray coverage and brilliant colors when processed with heat, or blends gray, and produces natural colors when processed at room temperature. When mixed with the Processing Solution, the mixture becomes a rich, thick gel that can be applied with either a bottle or a brush. Reinforced with PBX, Scruples patented Protective Barrier Complex, which shields the hair color molecule and allows for deeper penetration of the color pigment while imparting maximum shine. Scruples COLOR ART Primary Equalizer is a color gel designed to balance any color formula for hair that is lacking warmth. Gray hair and corrective colors are ideal color situations where Primary Equalizer can add the missing warmth and balance the tone to produce expert color results. Scruples revolutionary COLOR ART Lock & Shine adjusts the hairs ph, protects the hair, and seals in the condition and shine. COOL SERIES GOLD SERIES RED SERIES CLEAR COLORS BB 3BV 8BG 2V 2G 4G 8G 6RB 6RG 3P 000 Black Cool Ash Cool Dark Light Golden Cool Warm Deep Clear Brown Blonde Blonde Golden Golden Blonde Red Red Purple Base Brown Brown BASES Blue Blue Blue Red Red Without Black Violet Green Violet Gold Gold Gold Blue Gold Purple Pigment THE NUMBER OF EACH COLOR INDICATES THE COLOR LEVEL ( through 2). THE LETTER FOLLOWING THE NUMBER INDICATES THE COLOR BASE. BB = Blue Black; BV = Blue Violet; BG = Blue Green; V = Violet; G = Gold; RB = Red Blue; RG = Red Gold; P = Purple; 000 = Clear Base (color without pigment). BB Blue Black is a crisp black shade with blue undertones that can be used alone or mixed with other colors to deepen and cool down the shade. 3BV Cool Brown will add depth and reduce warmth in a formula. 8BG Blue Green and 2V Violet are perfect cool tones to help balance excess warmth in lighter levels. 2G, 4G, and 8G Golds are pure based colors that add warmth and richness to a client s natural hair color. 6RB Red Blue is a blue based red that holds a strong cool red tone in the hair. 6RG Red Gold is a vibrant copper red that has depth and richness of tone. 3P Purple holds the depth of a level 3 with brilliant purple tones. Fantastic used alone or in combination with other colors. 000 Clear Base controls the amount of color deposit in the hair or can be used alone to add brilliant gloss to hair.

HOW TO USE Color Art Primary Equalizer Color Art Conditioning Color Gloss as Corrective Color Color Art Conditioning Color Gloss Directions PROCESSING GUIDE ROOM TEMPERATURE 20-30 MINUTES PREHEATED DRYER 20-30 MINUTES Scruples has created the Primary Equalizer to balance a color formula for hair that is lacking warmth. GRAY COVERAGE: COLOR ART Conditioning Color Gloss Gray Coverage Formulas have all been adjusted, and in most instances include /8 oz. to /2 oz. of the Primary Equalizer. Gray hair lacks underlying tone; therefore, the formulas have been adjusted to ensure the perfect tone on gray hair. HOW TO USE Color Art Conditioning Color Gloss Gray Coverage Formulation Chart Scruples has created a Gray Coverage Formulation Chart specifically designed for clients that are 50% or more gray. The Gray Coverage Formulations are easy to identify because they are shown on a gray background. The Standard Formulation Chart is shown on a white background. GRAY COVERAGE DIRECTIONS:. DETERMINE THE CLIENT S NATURAL HAIR COLOR LEVEL using Scruples Color Reference Wheel and then determine the percentage of gray in the hair. If the client is 50% or more gray, use the COLOR ART Conditioning Color Gloss GRAY COVERAGE FORMULATION CHART. 2. CONSULT WITH THE CLIENT by showing the client Scruples COLOR ART Swatch Book. Allow the client to select the desired color from the book. Remember, COLOR ART is a no-lift, deposit-only haircolor which can either enhance or change the tonal value of the hair at the same level as the client s natural level or darker than the client s natural level. NOTE: If the client selects a color at a level lighter than their natural level, a permanent color such as Scruples HIGH DEFINITION Color Gel is recommended where the hair can be lightened while the color is being deposited. 3. MIXING: Always mix equal parts COLOR ART Conditioning Color Gloss and COLOR ART Processing Solution. Gray hair and corrective color are ideal color situations to add /8 to /2 oz. of Primary Equalizer to the formula. COLOR CORRECTION: When deepening a client s hair color -2 levels, adding /8 oz. to /2 oz. Primary Equalizer will balance the color formula to replace the underlying tone that is lacking. When deepening a client s hair color more than 3 levels, refer to COLOR ART as a corrective color using the Repigmentation Chart. The COLOR ART Gray Coverage Formulas deliver superior gray coverage and proper tone by utilizing the COLOR ART Primary Equalizer. The COLOR ART Gray Coverage Formulas take the guesswork out of formulating for gray hair. Scruples has done the work for you by tweaking the formulas to ensure the perfect tone on gray hair. 4. APPLICATION: Scruples COLOR ART Conditioning Color Gloss should always be applied to dry hair. Apply the mixture according to the application instructions for a virgin application or retouch application. 5. PROCESSING: If the client prefers to only blend gray hair and does not desire maximum coverage, process color at room temperature for 20-30 minutes. Maximum Gray Coverage can be obtained by processing with heat for 30 minutes. A 5 minute cool down is recommended prior to shampooing. When the ends of the hair need refreshing, it is recommended that a COLOR ART standard formula be used with or without heat during the last 5-0 minutes, of the processing cycle. Pulling the Gray Coverage Formula through the ends may produce excessive warmth. 6. REMOVAL: Rinse hair and shampoo twice with Scruples RENEWAL Color Retention Shampoo or BLAZING Color Extending Shampoo, rinsing thoroughly each time. Apply COLOR ART Lock & Shine. Work through the hair from scalp to ends to adjust ph and seal in condition and shine. Leave on 3-5 minutes, then rinse. Remove any color stains from the skin with Scruples COLOR AWAY. PROBLEM: Color of the hair is too light. SOLUTION: Color the hair back to its natural shade. * If the desired level is - 2 levels darker, add /8 - /2 oz. Primary Equalizer to the color formula. Primary Equalizer will balance the color formula by replacing the underlying tone that is lacking. * If the desired level is 3 or more levels darker, follow the Repigmentation Procedure: REPIGMENTATION CHART LEVEL FILLER FORMULA 0 oz. 8G + oz. 000 9 oz. 8G + oz. 000 8 3 /4 oz. 8G + /4 oz. 6RG + oz. 000 7 oz. 8G + /4 oz. 6RG + 3 /4 oz. 000 6 /4 oz. 8G + /4 oz. 6RG + /2 oz. 000 5 oz. 8G + /2 oz. 6RG + /2 oz. 000 4 /2 oz. 8G + 3 /4 oz. 4G + 3 /4 oz. 6RG 3 3 /4 oz. 6RG + 3 /4 oz. 4G + /2 oz. 000 2 3 /4 oz. 6RG + oz. 4G + /4 oz. 3P 3 /4 oz. 6RG + 3 /4 oz. 4G + /2 oz. 3P PROBLEM: Highlighting has made the hair too blonde. Select a color - 3 levels deeper than the client s highlighted haircolor. 2. Add /2 oz. Primary Equalizer and /2 oz. 000 Clear Base to the 2 oz. Color Gloss Formula. 3. Mix with 3 oz. Processing Solution. 4. Apply to the hair by foiling, paneling, painting, or capping.. DETERMINE THE CLIENT S NATURAL HAIR COLOR LEVEL using Scruples Color Reference Wheel, and determine the percentage of gray in the hair. If the client s hair is less than 50% gray, refer to the STANDARD FORMULATION CHART when selecting the client s desired haircolor formula. If the client s hair is 50% or more gray, refer to the GRAY COVERAGE FORMULATION CHART. COLOR ART results will vary, depending on the starting level. The chart below illustrates a natural starting level of 8, 6, and 3 and how a COLOR ART 6RB will effect each level once it is deposited. Starting Level 6 Cool Red 2 oz. 6RB (60 ml 6RB) COLOR ART COLOR SELECTION AND RESULT LEVEL 8 LEVEL 6 LEVEL 3 DESIRED RESULT To add brightness or to change the tone at the natural level To deepen or change the color to a level darker than the natural level NOTE: Always mix equal parts of Color Gloss with Processing Solution. 3. MIXING: Always mix equal parts COLOR ART Conditioning Color Gloss and COLOR ART Processing Solution to create a rich color mixture. If 000 Clear Base has been added to an existing haircolor formula, be sure to increase the amount of Processing Solution so that there is always an equal amount of Color Gloss and Processing Solution. If a thicker consistency is desired, add a small amount of Scruples COLOR WHIP Haircolor Thickener to any formula. 4. APPLICATION: Scruples COLOR ART Conditioning Color Gloss should always be applied to dry hair. VIRGIN APPLICATION: Divide hair into 4 sections and apply the color mixture from scalp to ends. If hair is excessively porous or has damaged ends, test strand to determine processing time. RETOUCH APPLICATION: Divide hair into 4 sections. Apply color mixture to the hairs new growth only and process for the proper amount of time (refer to the Processing Guide, page 3). If the ends of the hair need refreshing, distribute the color mixture throughout the hair shaft and process during the last 5-0 minutes of the processing cycle. 2. CONSULT WITH THE CLIENT by showing the client Scruples COLOR ART Swatch Book. Allow the client to select the desired haircolor from the book. Remember, COLOR ART is a no-lift, deposit-only haircolor which can either enhance or change the tonal value of the hair at the same level as the client s natural level, or darker than the client s natural level. COLOR SELECTION Select a COLOR ART formula lighter than the natural level Select a COLOR ART formula at the same level or darker than the natural level 5. PROCESSING: Process COLOR ART Conditioning Color Gloss on normal hair for 20-30 minutes at room temperature. If deeper, more vibrant color results are desired, or hair is gray or resistant, maximum coverage can be obtained by processing the color under a preheated dryer for 20-30 minutes. Set heat controls on medium to high. When processing with heat, always cover the hair with a plastic processing cap. A 5 minute cool down is recommended prior to shampooing. If client prefers to only blend gray hair and does not desire maximum coverage, process color at room temperature. If hair is porous or has been prelightened, a test strand is recommended to determine the proper processing time (refer to Processing Guide, page 3). 6. REMOVAL: Rinse hair and shampoo twice with Scruples Extending Shampoo, rinsing thoroughly each time. Apply Scruples COLOR ART Lock & Shine and work through hair from scalp to ends to adjust the ph and seal in condition and shine. Remove any color stains from the skin with Scruples COLOR AWAY.
