Koshi is a collaborative creation between Danielle Hubbard, Jason Levine, Forty Nguyen and Emmanuel Cyr. Set in a faraway magical land, Koshi tells the hilarious action-packed story of a love triangle between a princess, the prince that she is arranged to marry, and the leader of rebel forces that oppose her father s kingdom. Inspired by Kung-Fu Movies and drawing from the disciplines of contemporary dance, breakdance, circus, and physical theatre, Koshi is a highly visual and entertaining experience. Flashy custom-made costumes and ridiculous comical characters make this show even more engaging. However, what distinguishes Koshi from other pieces is the live sonic landscape created by the sound effects, narration and voiceovers performed by Jason Levine. Koshi is a multidisciplinary performance structured as a theatre piece interspersed with dance choreographies. The piece showcases the following circus arts: acrobatics, devil sticks, maculélé, flag, hula-hoop, and hand to hand. Finally, the piece showcases the virtuosity of the urban art forms of breakdancing and beatboxing. Koshi has been presented in a professional context over 50 times in the last two years in three languages: French, English, and Spanish. Koshi performed two consecutive years at the Montreal International Jazz Festival, at La Nuit Noire à Montréal, at La Soirée de La Dance, at The Franco-Ontarian Festival, at the second International Festival of Alternative Performing Arts in Querétaro, Mexico, and at the Ontario Street Sale in Montréal.
