Koshi is a collaborative creation between Danielle Hubbard, Jason Levine, Forty Nguyen and Emmanuel Cyr. Set in a faraway magical land, Koshi tells the hilarious action-packed story of a love triangle between a princess, the prince that she is arranged to marry, and the leader of rebel forces that oppose her father s kingdom. Inspired by Kung-Fu Movies and drawing from the disciplines of contemporary dance, breakdance, circus, and physical theatre, Koshi is a highly visual and entertaining experience. Flashy custom-made costumes and ridiculous comical characters make this show even more engaging. However, what distinguishes Koshi from other pieces is the live sonic landscape created by the sound effects, narration and voiceovers performed by Jason Levine. Koshi is a multidisciplinary performance structured as a theatre piece interspersed with dance choreographies. The piece showcases the following circus arts: acrobatics, devil sticks, maculélé, flag, hula-hoop, and hand to hand. Finally, the piece showcases the virtuosity of the urban art forms of breakdancing and beatboxing. Koshi has been presented in a professional context over 50 times in the last two years in three languages: French, English, and Spanish. Koshi performed two consecutive years at the Montreal International Jazz Festival, at La Nuit Noire à Montréal, at La Soirée de La Dance, at The Franco-Ontarian Festival, at the second International Festival of Alternative Performing Arts in Querétaro, Mexico, and at the Ontario Street Sale in Montréal. CREDITS Choreography: Emmanuel Cyr, Forty Nguyen, and Danielle Hubbard Text: Jason Levine (with one line by Forty Nguyen) Music: Jason Levine Costumes: Erin Whitney To view an excerpt of the performance please visit: http://www.manucyrk.com/koshi and click on videos

Based in the heart of Montreal, Quebec, Manu Cyr k has been producing innovative circus shows since 2004. Beginning with street shows and animations and recently moving recently toward stage acts, the company has gradually incorporated the disciplines of physical theatre, break-dance and contemporary dance with the circus arts of fire, juggling and hand to hand acrobatics. While the multidisciplinary talents of Manu Cyr k are very strong, the intent of the art is to connect with the audience, convey emotion, and ultimately uplift the crowd. Through the creation of eight different shows, multiple animations and several commissioned acts Manu Cyr k has always asked the question: How do we want the spectators to feel after the performance, and how can we achieve that goal?. Manu Cyr k has provided streets shows and animation for the Montreal International Jazz Festival for 6 years in a row as well as providing animation for Cité des Arts du Cirque and for Cirque du Soleil s special events. The company has toured extensively in Canada, leaving behind smiles in Quebec, Ontario, and New Brunswick. In addition, it has ventured across the Atlantic Ocean to perform in Austria at The Linz Festival and the Villack Festival. Finally Manu Cyr K has been invited to perform in Mexico as part the Circonvencion Festival(2005) and twice as part of the Siguiente Escena Festival. Manu Cyr k was part of the Young Entrepreneurs program and has won the Concours des Jeunes Entrepreneurs in 2004-2005, Le Prix Coup de Coeur du Jury and Le Prix Concours Sodec in 2005, and le bourse de Cirque du Soleil au Project Parade in 2006.
