2017-2018 IFF ReMix International Fur Design Competition Important Deadlines All entries must be sent to the FICA Office by Monday, February 13, 2017 Due to tight production deadlines, we encourage students work on their submissions throughout the school year and scheduled breaks. NO EXTENSIONS WILL BE GIVEN! ALL OFFICIAL ENTRIES MUST INCLUDE: Send EMAIL ENTERIES directly to Nicole Smith at: Nicole@fur.org (only form of entry) Color drawing / sketch or rendition (preferred format is electronic jpeg file no larger than 2MB) Completed entry form for each design submitted. Brief description/inspiration and mood board behind creative concept Brief biography of the designer Student headshot Student designer must also submit 2 additional images featuring previously designed garments/items with fur, or fur trim (This will be used in the overall judging phase to gain a better grasp on student s depth of design knowledge) KEY DUE DATES 1. Monday, February 13, 2017 sketch, application and deadline due in to FICA office. 2. On, or around, Tuesday, March 21st, 2017 results are released on the U.S. 3 finalists and participating school administrators and students are contacted. Winning students should be ready, willing, and able to travel (between April 2017 October 2017) to work on the construction of their garment. **Please note that final design direction/instruction/recommendations are given by the design team director that the student is paired up with. 3. Friday, November 17, 2017 (tentitive) by which time the FICA office must receive professionallooking images of finished garments from the 3 winning US students. Past students have staged fashion photoshoots to best showcase their garment and any accompanying accessories. 4. Early February, 2018 (approximate date) by which time all garments must be ready to go to MiFur 2018. The FICA Offices will notify finalists, if selected by international judging committee, if garment(s) is to be carried over to Milan personally by participant. Please note that we cannot be flexible in these key dates due to production timelines. Any entries or garments not received in time will be excluded from the competition. Quick Step-by-Step Guide for 2017-2018 IFF International ReMix Fur Design Competition 1. Designs/sketches with all necessary forms and documentation are to be submitted by students no later than Monday February 13, 2017. All entries submitted must be the work of the designer. Entries will only be accepted from design students who are currently studying or have graduated from design school within four years from the date of entry to the competition. * All documents must be complete for each submission. 2. A U.S. panel of judges reviews all entries/sketches and selects a total of 3 finalist from the following categories: International Design Category (2) Menswear Category (1) 3. U. S. finalists, results are released and the U.S. 3 finalists and participating school administrators are contacted individually by Tuesday March 21, 2017. 4. FICA puts together a professional design team for U.S. finalist to work with. The team consists of a lead designer/brand and an auction house that will donate the skins to produce the winning garment design. 5. Once U.S. finalists are assigned their design team, finalist will collaborate with the team to decipher the quantity of skins that will be needed to produce the garment, and any additional resources you will need (i.e. dying of garment). (April October 2017). **Student must be available to travel to work with manufacturer during production of their garment. A workable pattern must be created by student and given to team to work from. 6. Once garment is produced, U.S. finalist must produce professional-looking high resolution images of the finished garment on a model. All photos must be submitted on or around Friday November 17 th 2017 for judging by the international committee. Submitted photographs of the garment must feature front, back and side views. 7. If chosen as an international finalist, garments must be ready to go to MiFur 2018 in Milan Italy by early February, 2018. 2017-2018 IFF ReMix International Fur Design Competition Categories & Entry Requirements Fur Information Council of America is pleased to announce the 2017/2018 IFF ReMix International Fur Design Competition, and we invite your students to participate in this exciting event. Last year s contest saw close to 125 entries from 35 different schools around the country, and we anticipate this year to be even bigger! This competition offers your students and your school possible: Worldwide exposure and a chance to have your students designs exhibited at MiFur 2018 the prestigious international fur fashion trade show held in Milan, Italy. The chance to win generous cash prizes The chance to receive paid travel to Milan for MiFur 2018 Opportunity to work hands- on with designers, manufacturers and designers to gain valuable access and exposure within luxury fur industry Included in extensive public relations campaign/promotion throughout the US (winning students) Exposure in leading international fashion magazines (Vogue) All entries submitted must be the work of the designer. Entries will only be accepted from design students who are currently studying or have graduated from design school within four years from the date of entry to the competition. Students must be able to, have knowledge of, how to work with patterns and canvas enough to provide your design team with workable layout of your design. 2017/2018 IFF ReMix International Fur Design Competition categories are as follows: 1. REMIX INTERNATIONAL DESIGNER AWARD 2. MENSWEAR AWARD

CATEGORY DESCRIPTIONS ReMix International Design Award The Remix International Fur Design Category is the main category for students to enter. Garments/designs can be of any nature (i.e. coats/jackets, suites, capes, shirts, dresses) Menswear Award The Menswear category showcases some of the innovating designs and techniques in the men s design category. Students are permitted to submit their best designs for men s fur fashion including outerwear and ready to wear designs. ENTRY CRITERIA FOR ALL CATEGORIES Please sign and complete the attached entry form and include the correct supporting information as indicated below: Completed Contest Entry Form (please include a separate form for each entry) Student Biography (include previous work history/internships) Photo/Headshot of student At least (1) Color Rendition / Sketch of original garment(s) concept being submitted Preferred format is electronic jpeg file no larger than 2MB sent via email to Nicole@fur.org Explanation of Inspiration and process/mood board for each submitted sketch 2 Photos of (2) other completed fashion projects/ pieces (must be full fur or furtrimmed garments, or accessories) All entries submitted must be the work of the designer.
