HAZARDS IDENTIFICATION Emergency and Hazards Overview: Contact with hot material may cause thermal burns. Once cool, repeated skin contact with rubberized asphalt may result in slight irritation. Prolonged skin contact may cause an increased risk of skin cancer, liver damage and reproduction effects based on laboratory animals tests. Skin cleansing studies with aromatic oils show that the toxic effects are not likely to occur to humans if good personal hygiene practices are used. May be harmful if swallowed. Read and understand all health and safety information on the product label and Material Safety Data Sheet before use. Page 1 of 6

Ratings Health 3* Flammability 1 Reactivity 0 *Chronic health effects Primary Route of Exposure: Skin x Inhalation x Eye x Ingestion x Health Effect Information Eye Contact: May cause eye irritation if wiped or rubbed into eyes. Skin Contact: May cause skin irritation on prolonged or repeated contact. Inhalation: Inhalation issues only apply when the material is hot (see below). Once cool, inhalation of fumes is unlikely. Ingestion: There are no known health effects due to ingestion. Ingestion is unlikely due to the nature of this product. Medical Conditions Aggravated by Exposure: Prolonged contact with oil residues in this product may produce effects including skin cancer. The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) has concluded that Occupational exposures to oxidized bitumens and their emissions during roofing are probably carcinogenic to humans. While this product is not based on oxidized asphalts, fractions may become oxidized when heated to the necessary application temperature and released to the air. Also, this petroleum-based product contains a variable amount of polycyclic aromatic compounds (PAC s), including polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH s) which have been shown to cause cancer and respiratory damage in humans and laboratory animals. See Section 11 for additional information. 4. FIRST AID INFORMATION Eye Contact: Flush with water for 15 minutes. Get medical attention immediately. Skin Contact: Hot Material Immediately drench or immerse area in water to assist cooling. DO NOT try to remove product from burned area after it has cooled. Seek immediate medical attention. Medical personnel can soften and remove cooled product with petroleum jelly or mineral oil. Cool Material - Wipe off and wash skin with soap and water. Promptly remove contaminated clothing and wash before reuse. See a physician if irritation develops. Inhalation: Hot Material If respiratory symptoms develop, move victim away from source of exposure and into fresh air. If symptoms persist, seek medical attention. If breathing is difficult, trained personnel should administer oxygen. If breathing has stopped, give artificial respiration and seek medical attention. Cool Material - No known adverse effect. Ingestion:. Due to the nature of this product ingestion is unlikely. Consult a physician immediately. Notes to Physician: This product contains asphalt and mineral process oil. Page 2 of 6

Skin Protection: Use protective insulation gloves during hot melt application. Respiratory Protection: Provide adequate ventilation to maintain vapors below PEL/TWA. If vapor levels are exceeded, use NIOSH approved respirator, both during and immediately after application, until vapor levels are below limits. Personal Hygiene: Avoid rubbing eyes during handling. Due to the nature of this product ingestion is unlikely. Use good personal hygiene practices to avoid incidental ingestion. Engineering Controls: Follow NIOSH guidelines for controlling exposure to fumes that are found in Asphalt Fume Exposures During the Application of Hot Asphalt to Roofs DHHS (NIOSH) Publication No. 2003-112 (June 2003). These include: 1. Use kettles of appropriate size for the job, 2. Make sure kettle lids fit tightly, close the lid when product is not being added and minimize the number of times that the lid must be opened, 3. Place the kettle downwind from workers, 4. Place the kettle away from air intake vents, doors and windows, 5. Restrict access to the area around the kettle, 6. Calibrate and check the operation of kettle thermometers at least monthly. Ventilation: If material is heated or otherwise made airborne, provide local exhaust or area ventilation to maintain concentration of vapors below 5 mg/m3 PEL/TWA. If conditions are above the maximum PEL/TWA, workers must use appropriate certified respirators in accordance with their company s respiratory protection program, local regulations or 29 CFR 1910.134. Other: Source of clean water should be available in the work area for flushing eyes and skin. Wash thoroughly with soap and water after use and before eating. Page 4 of 6
