These are used as linings to provide a material that is breathable and soft to the touch. Synthetic materials are man-made products. Improvements in technology have resulted in lining materials that are leather-like and able to transfer air and moisture away from the foot in wear. A moulded footbed that is shaped to provide underfoot support during wear. The metatarsals are the long bones of the foot that connect the ankle to the toes. Moulded footbeds are shaped in a way to support these bones and connected muscles, thus reducing stress and fatigue. Latex in its natural state is a component of rubber. Its properties make for a material which is shock absorbent and energy returning. Used in shoes as a footbed or insole it provides durable cushioning and support. This is a foam that softens and moulds itself under pressure or body warmth, but never collapses. It returns to its original form ready for the next wear. Often seen used in expensive mattresses, in footwear it provides similar support and cushioning for feet. Poron is a patented latex-type material that is a world leader in shock-absorption. Used as footbed or insole, it promises the wearer incomparable comfort in all-day wear. A blown, lightweight soling material. A durable synthetic soling material used on formal, styled footwear. Thermo Plastic Rubber. Used for hard-wearing outsoles. A blown, lightweight material usually used in athleisure footwear. Polyurethane.
