Culture for service, service for humanity Since Sigma s inception in 1914, on the campus of Howard University, Brotherhood, Scholarship, and Service have been the founding cornerstones of this great fraternity. Our illustrious, visionary founders, A. Langston Taylor, Leonard F. Morse, and Charles I. Brown, recognized, at the outset, the importance of brotherly unity and respect, education, and service to mankind. These guiding principles are reflected in the fraternity s motto: Culture for service, service for humanity. The ideals also are clearly manifested Sigma s rich tradition of joining forces to positively affect countless lives in local and global communities. Communities, however, continue to face difficult economic times and health wellness issues. Continuous steadfast commitment to develop solutions to solve these urgent challenges is greatly needed as never before. After all, What we do says who we are.
