Taipei IN Style Bedazzled Hong Kong! January 18, 2010 Taipei IN Style s spectacular catwalk show took place at Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on January 18, 2010, at 2pm. This was the first time for Taiwan s well-known designers Gioia Pan, Goji Lin, Chiui Hsu, and brand name Minkwood, to participate in Hong Kong World Boutique s Fashion Week (organized by Hong Kong Trade Development Council HKTDC) with their new collections for 2010. The exceptional performance by Taiwan s supermodel, Shatina Chen, for Taipei IN Style, was highly praised by the media. At 2:30pm, the post-show press conference was hosted by Taiwan Textile Federation s Secretary General, Justin Huang. The opening speech by HKTDC s Deputy Executive Director, Benjamin Chau, expressed support and applauded both Taiwan and Hong Kong s effort in emphasizing brand promotion. Media reporters from Voice of America, China Television, The United Daily News, Oriental Press, Phoenix Satellite TV, Guangdong TV, China News Agency, China Daily, South East television stations, and Central News Agency flooded the conference area for interviews with designers and models. The postshow press conference served to be a great communications platform for designers, reporters, brands, and buyers to interact with one another. To showcase Taiwan s fashion power on an international stage, Taiwan Textile Federation first organized Taipei IN Style in 2006, with the purpose of stimulating local brand development and offer guidance for companies to expand and flourish in China s major cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, and Hong Kong. Taiwan Textile Federation considers Hong Kong as one of the most important cities in Asia with much celebrated success in fashion business development and globalization. It is with the desire to shine under international spotlights that Taiwan Textile Federation lead a group of highly respected designers and brands to present their collections in Hong Kong Fashion Week.
Brief Introduction of Participating Designers and Brand Asia s new-generation fashion designer Gioia Pan, also known as the Knitwear Queen by Taiwan s media, introduced her Don Quixote's Dream Knight collection which is inspired by the most influential work of literature to emerge from the Spanish Golden Age at Hong Kong Fashion Week. Gioia Pan s impeccable technique and originality in design received positive response from the media and the fashion community. For the 2010 collection, the eternally cutting-edge designer, Goji Lin, makes an interpretation of the stories behind Taiwan s indigenous floral and emphasizes local characters. It takes the case of Prunus campanulata and is inspired by the shape of the flower and the postures of the veins, and taking these as a cue for the pattern of the dress to show off both the artisan craft of the dress maker and the eloquence of an oriental silhouette. A true believer in experimental art, designer Chiui Hsu develops her lines with creativity and market-needs in mind. To Ms. Hsu, fashion is the integration of life and art. Mixing the essence of Chinese calligraphy and blue hand-dyed fabrics, Chiui Hsu created her collection, suitable for all season, to remind people the harmonic ambience of Eastern culture. Established in 1985, Minkwood is a brand that specializes in high-end handmade formal wears. The well-recognized wedding dress maker s main theme for its show in Hong Kong is Fashion Grace.
