Media Release Aarau, 5 February 2018 Flowers to Art Floral Interpretations of Works in the Collection of the Aargauer Kunsthaus Tuesday 6 March - Sunday 11 March 2018 Aargauer Kunsthaus, Aarau As in recent years, Flowers to Art again brings spring into the Aargauer Kunsthaus, offering sensorial pleasures and surprising moments of art viewing. Fragrant creations by fourteen Swiss florists and their teams engage in a dialogue with the artworks from the collection of the Aargauer Kunsthaus. The floral magic is on view for a week, from 6 to 11 March 2018. Flowers to Art returns a fifth time and has evolved into a unique attraction in the exhibition programme of the Aargauer Kunsthaus. Fourteen outstanding florists from Switzerland reflect Swiss art in their creations of fresh flowers. For the first time, the Canton of Ticino is also represented by a young talent. The florists interpret paintings, drawings, collages, and sculptures by Cuno Amiet, Ferdinand Hodler, Ugo Rondinone, and other protagonists of art of the past and present. A new approach also has florists using entire thematic groups of works in the Stowaways exhibition on the lightfilled and spacious ground floor as a source of inspiration. A talk about The Power of Flowers focuses on the therapeutic effects of flowers. This is just one of numerous events that offer an in-depth understanding of the exhibits and the creative processes behind them. Conversations between florists and the artists Mireille
Gros, Renée Levi, and Guido Nussbaum provide insight into creative mind sets and processes. The popular guided tours and workshops round out the programme of supporting events. For the programme please refer to the separate flyer or visit our website at www.aargauerkunsthaus.ch. The Flower Bistro invites museum guests to take a pleasurable break in the florally decorated tent on the Kunsthaus roof. The design of the Flower Bistro is conceived and realised in collaboration with the floristry graduating class of the Rorschach Advanced Training Centre. Visitors once again may expect an extraordinary museum experience in sensorial harmony with flowers and art.
