TITAS 2015 Innovative and Smart Textiles Created Value for Taiwan s Textile Industry 790 booths by 370 exhibitors from 10 nations and regions achieved largest ever show scale Over 34,000 visits during the three-day event Representatives from nearly 90 global leading brands attended over 1,000 especially arranged one-on-one meetings with exhibitors Organized by the Taiwan Textile Federation (TTF) and under the auspices of the Bureau of Foreign Trade, Ministry of Economic Affairs, the 19th Taipei Innovative Textile Application Show (TITAS) took its bow on October 21, 2015 featuring 34,000 visits from textile professionals and 370 exhibitors from 10 nations and regions including Taiwan, China, Germany, India, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, Sweden, Switzerland and United States. The number of both visitors and exhibitors marked a peak for the Show, and the business prospect created by the 3-day event was estimated to reach more than 63 million US dollars. Fantastic functional textiles from Taiwan With the increasing global interests in physical activities as well as the dramatic change in climate, using functional textiles as apparel materials has become more the norm than the exception. Functional clothing nowadays not only provides great comfort, but also fulfills consumers aesthetic needs. What s more, the carbon footprint generated can be more eco-friendly. Taiwan is known as a major performance textile producer in the world. As the only professional textile trade fair in Taiwan, TITAS is the best platform to check out the latest innovation the industry has to offer on a yearly base. This is an efficient sourcing occasion in Asia for serious buyers who look for new ideas in fibers, yarns, fabrics, trimmings, textile machinery, apparel and accessories with reasonable prices in order to reinforce their brand and product image and competitiveness. New era: smart textiles and wearable technologies Smart textiles and wearable technologies are no doubt the nouvelle vague now in the global textile market. Always staying at the forefront of trends, Taiwan s textile industry hasn t hesitated in riding this technical wave. Smart clothing and wearable technologies made their debut show at TITAS in 2015. Products including clothes with embedded sensors or embedded smart technologies gave lots of inspiration to and received lots of feedback from exhibitors and visitors. As a show emphasizing innovation, TITAS will definitely accommodate more inventions and breakthrough in this segment at its 2016 edition.

Highlights at TITAS 2015 Formosa Plastics Group Formosa Chemicals & Fibre presented the permanent flame retardant rayon fiber Formotex ; ultrafine fiber in 5-10 denier; and fiber grade PP pellets that were good for the application to fine denier multifilament, PP/PE composite staple fiber, and non-woven fabric. Formosa Taffeta exhibited 4-7D Ultra Light fabric series boasting an average weight of under 25g/m 2 ; the waterless eco-dyed fabric AQUAOFF; cooling fabric Permacool ; and quick thermal-insulation fabric Permawarm. Nan Ya Plastics showed a newly developed antistatic fiber DESTATIC; the UV-resistant fiber SUNCOOL; and the biomass eco-friendly fiber BIOPET. FENC introduced Sunex, an anti-static and thermal fiber; TopLumins, a luminating fiber; and TopDry, a uni-directional quick dry fiber that was a result of joint efforts with 3M. Through crossover collaborations, FENC has also developed smart apparel using conductive membrane to detect user s physical condition. Libolon centered on the theme of Green Circle to showcase how the company implemented the philosophy of environmental preservation, including its nylon and polyester recycling system Eco-flying. Eclat, under the theme of Innovation & Sustainability, showcased its premium quality functional knitted fabrics adopting a production process that met stringent international regulations to minimize the damage on the environment. Tex-Ray introduced TCool yarn that could block nearly 70% of near-infrared and UV lights and lowered temperature by 2~5 C; THot yarn that could increase temperature by 3~5 C to provide warmth in winter; RAYs21TM, a fabric that glowed in the dark; and a luminous print fabric LalunaTM.

New Wide Group displayed its R&D strength around 7 sports including running, yoga, basketball, baseball, biking, climbing and football. The most eye-catching product was the moistureabsorbing, double-faced, cellular polyester jacquard which has won The Best Market Application award 2015 in a Shanghai Textile Fair Tri Ocean highlighted its quick moisture-transferring polypropylene filament yarn DreamFel and its derivative materials such as PP micro fiber, PP filling materials and PP sheets. Hoyu focused on fabrics for outdoor gears such as tents and backpacks. Much attention was paid to details and eco-friendliness during production processes. Hoyu devoted as high as 5% of product cost to meet environmental purpose. First time exhibitor Sympatex from Germany demonstrated its high-tech windproof, rainproof and breathable Sympatex fabric series around the concept outdoor, leisure, workwear. Polygenta, the only manufacturer of high quality 100% recycled PET filament yarn in India, exhibited its yarn products in the range of 50-600 denier with certifications from Control Union, Oekotex (Class I) and IMS (ISO9001, ISO14001, and OHSAS18001). South Korean company Hansol Eco is an expert in fashion and home textiles with major clients at Dongdaemun Market, Seoul as well as in China, Japan and USA. Four Japanese companies exhibited as representatives from Kiryu city, a place renowned for silk and textile manufacture. Asakura Senpu, Fuji Lace, Kasamori and Morihide presented exquisite Kiryu textiles from ancient time to the present.
