The Presidential palace and government offices are draped in red and white ornaments, Shopping centers offer the Independence Day sales. The Jakarta city administration creates a unique series of decorations, publications and all creations of festivities throughout cities. Housing complexes raise national flags, and repaint their main gates white colors, and the words of Dirgahayu Indonesia (Long Live Indonesia!) are everywhere. August 17th is Indonesia's national day and marks Indonesia's declaration of independence from the Netherlands in 1945. History of Independence Day in Indonesia is Indonesia had been a Dutch colony for over 300 years when a group of revolutionaries declared independence on August 17, 1945. Indonesian Independence Day It took Indonesians four years of diplomacy and armed struggle before their independence was formally granted by Queen Juliana of the Netherlands. Despite the granting of independence in 1945, In 2005, the Netherlands declared that they had decided to accept de facto 17 August 1945 as Indonesia's independence date. In a 2013 interview the Indonesian historian Sukotjo, amongst others, asked the Dutch government to formally acknowledge the date of independence as 17 August 1945. The United Nations, who mediated in the conflict, formally acknowledge the date of independence as 27 December 1949. The document was signed by Sukarno (who signed his name "Soekarno" using the older Dutch orthography) and Mohammad Hatta, who were appointed president and vicepresident respectively the following day. How is Independence day in Indonesia celebrated? On Independence Day, celebrations begin with a flag hoisting ceremony in all region start at the president's palace, offices and schools.
This national holiday is celebrated throughout Indonesia with parades, community gatherings, athletic events involving adults and children such as sack races, and a multitude of cultural and performing arts festivals. Traditions also include eating Indonesian crackers (known as 'krupuk') or fruit hanging on a string and climbing a pinang tree to reach for a prize.
4. CLEANLINESS AND WASTE DISPOSALS 4.1.1 Residents must not litter in any common of the area and must keep the common area clean at all the times. 4.1.2 Place trash/waste materials into the bins provided for in the service area. For Town House unit, waste bins are available close to the pump room of each unit. 4.2.5 Residents are not allowed to throw anything out of the balconies and/or the windows. Indiscriminate throwing of garbage or any item shall be subject to severe penalty and/or other sanctions as determined by the Building Management. 6. THE USE OF LOBBIES AND CORRIDOR 6.1 Lobbies and corridors are to be kept clean at all times. Food and Beverages shall not be allowed at the lobbies and Corridors. 6.2 Littering are not allowed. 6.3 Furniture, bicycles, and any kind of private objects are not allowed to be placed, left, or kept in the lobbies and corridors. 6.4 Bicycles, Rollerblades and Skateboards or any similar object are not allowed to roam around the lobbies and corridors. FITNESS EQUIPMENT As a Courtesy to others, Residents/Visitors should keep clean and wipes dry the equipment after using it. All free weights should be placed back in their appropiates racks after use. Residents/Visitors are expected to treat the equipment with care and should report any damages to the attendant in charge.

MUSEUM JOANG 45 1945 Struggle for Freedom Museum is located at Menteng Raya Street 31, Central Jakarta. In 1938, a Dutch businessman named LC Schomper, built a hotel called Schomper, I at Menteng Area. The hotel was built as a place to spend nights for high officials of the Nederland, foreign Entrepreneurs, and high officials of local government. During the colonization of the Japanese Empire in Indonesia youth and it was turned into a boarding house and Education center for Indonesian Youth in order to learn nationalism. Soekarno (1st Indonesian President), Mohammad Hatta (1st Indonesian Vice President), Adam Malik Chaerul Saleh and many other youth generations of Indonesia are involved in the educations process inside. The name of the Hotel Schomper 1 Hotel then turned into Gedung Menteng 31 Building).
As time went by, the Gedung Menteng 31 was used for many purposes. It was once used as office of Ministry of Manpower arrangement, National Boards of the Generation of 1945, and Jointly Secretariat of Nation Works Organization (secretariat Bersama Golongan Karya) - Embrio the GOLKAR Party. After the building was renovated and repaired Gedung Menteng 31 was officially established as Museum Joang 45 on August 19, 1974, by former President Soeharto and former governor of Jakarta Ali Sadikin. The name, Museum Joang 45' is chosen as the building has played great role on the Independence if Indonesia and could become a site for the inheritance process of invaluable struggle values in 1945. The Museum is open from 8.00 am to 3.00 pm on Monday to Friday.
