S Summer Courses The Accademia di Costume & Moda has both a long tradition and experience in training and education within the Costume and Fashion fields, qualifying itself as a centre of excellence in learning thanks to its educational offer and approach to teaching and learning. Its alumni are successful and accomplished designers and fashion professionals working within a huge variety of areas within the Fashion System or working as Costume Designers for important productions both at national and international levels.
S The Summer School at Accademia Costume & Moda (ACM) offers introductory courses in a variety of subject areas of fashion, fashion communication and costume design. These introductory courses provide the basic tools necessary to define the students subject awareness enabling career choices and help locate their own personal creativity. Rome is the city that has the largest artistic and cultural heritage in the world, offering many possible extracurricular activities: visits to museums, archaeological sites, costumiers, archives, company visits. All these allow students to learn about the Eternal City, their subject specialism and understand how all areas can be a great source of inspiration. The Accademia s student housing officer is available to provide proposals for accommodation.
Intro to Fashion and Accessories Design WEEK 1-30 HOURS FROM 9 TO 13 JULY 2018 4 An introduction to Fashion and Accessories Design is a taster for all aspiring fashion designers to gain an insight to the various skills and knowledge required. This course will take the student through a small project culminating in a calicot prototype. The course will include: Research Market and Trends Creative Research & Sketchbook Mixed Media & Fashion Illustration Collage & Mood Boards Fashion Figure Drawing Development Sheets Silhouette and Fabrics Simple garments construction and Pattern Cutting Practical Realisation of a Prototype in Calicot Cultural Development Visits to Museums Materials: In order to fully participate in the practical exercises please bring the following materials/equipment to the first class: A range of pencils, coloured pencils (must include flesh, black, white and grey), markers, adhesive, double-sided tape, masking tape, paper, etc. Paper & Fabric Scissors, Dress Pins. A detailed list of all the materials will be sent to the students two weeks before the beginning of the Course. The Accademia has stipulated many agreements with specialized shops in order to provide its students favourable prices. This course is designed for: Beginners. Students should have an interest in the fashion subject area and a desire to learn but no previous experience is required. If you have not already made up your mind regarding your choice of degree course, this course will also give you a taste of the two-dimensional work that a fashion designer undertakes and the work produced supports an application to a fashion course at degree level. Rome: ACM Summer Courses include two visits to Museums / Exhibitions that relate to the area of study, within the 30 class hours. Students will have time to explore all that the city of Rome has to offer and will be given advice and support from the Accademia to culturally explore and make the most of their free time while in Rome.
Intro to Fashion Communication & Styling WEEK 2-30 HOURS FROM 16 TO 20 JULY 2018 5 This introduction to Fashion Communication & Styling is essential for all aspiring to work in the fashion industry but not perhaps as a designer. This course is very hands-on and a great introduction to the world of communication from Fashion Journalism, Blogging, PR & Events, Photography, working with Makeup & Hair, culminating in a photo shoot. The course will include: Collage & Mood Boards for fashion narrative Analysis of roles in Fashion Media Trend Analysis Fashion PR & Event Planning Introduction to Fashion Writing & Critiquing show and collections Creating your own Blog Fashion Styling and Creating a Fashion Image Understanding Hair & Makeup for Editorial Planning and executing your Fashion Shoot Materials: A detailed list of all the necessary materials will be sent to the students two weeks before the beginning of the Course. As an introduction to the subject and the methods of working it is ideal for young people wishing to explore career options. Intro to Costume Design will help students develop a variety of skills and knowledge associated to the subject, giving a realistic experience while working with renowned professors and industry specialists. Fees 2018 7 The Summer Courses will take place during the two weeks from July 9 th to July 13 th (week 1) and July 16 th to July 20 th 2018 (week 2). The course Introduction to Fashion and Accessories Design will take place in week 1, while the courses Introduction to Fashion Communication & Styling and Introduction to Costume Design will be held in week 2. The cost for each individual course is Euro 1.220 (VAT included). The enrollement of Introduction to Fashion and Accessories Design in week 1, in combination with one of the courses held during week 2, Introduction to Fashion Communication & Styling or Introduction to Costume Design, will have a discounted cost of Euro 1.220 + 854 (for a total of Euro 2.074, VAT included).
