Overview Background Make-ups always need coverage. In order to provide coverage, you need white pigment. Among available white pigments, TiO2 is the most widely used due to its unique high refractive index which provides outstanding coverage. Unfortunately, TiO2 also imparts a very harsh feel which is detrimental to the sensorial quality of make-ups. TiO2 Spherical TiO2 There have been many approaches towards improving the feel of TiO2 including the development of spherical TiO2. In reality, however, spherical TiO2 was not truly spherical but semi-spherically aggregated TiO2 particles, fragile and prone to breakage under pressure. Nowadays, TiO2 is usually pre-mixed with flakes to improve its harsh feel. ISN T THERE A BETTER SOLUTION? 200nm TiO2 encapsulated Silica Bead Chemical developed a new product, spherical TiO2 encapsulated silica bead in 2006. Silica bead is 2~10um with 200nm TiO2 35% inside. Silica gives excellent sensorial feeling while TiO2 provides good coverage. Very innovative but the price is very affordable. This new product s name is Sunsil TinUVAB.
