We start this year with a number of exciting events: Field Trip to the California Science Center with Mumsey, Members Night Out: Paris Chansons at City of West Hollywood s library on January 20th, Cocktail reception and a presentation at a luxury estate on Canon Drive on February 8th! Thursday, February 15th Love is in the Air: Valentine s Day Luncheon, Boutique and Fashion Show This event is traditionally sold out-rsvp Today! Don t miss a Chinese New Year Dinner Event on February 25 th and Special Entertainment by Sally Pai and Flora Zomorodi. NEW: Free Afternoon Tea in the Garden Room mingle with your fellow sisters at the BHWC, every second Wednesday. First Morning Walk starts on January 23rd. Free Yoga Classes with Cindy Jones will restart on February 6th and will be held every Tuesday 11am - 12 pm. Jackie Unveiled at the Wallis on February 27th with a No Host dinner is limited to only 15 tickets. Our Mission The Beverly Hills Women s Club along with its landmarked building supports educational, cultural, philanthropic and social endeavors enriching the community at large. Gleb Derujinsky s career as a fashion photographer took hold in the golden age of European haute When Balenciaga and Pierre Balmain were at the top of their game and Yves Saint Laurent and Karl Lagerfeld were designing their first runway shows. His photographs appeared in major lifestyle magazines and extensively in Harper s Bazaar from 1950 to 1970. Although air travel was still reserved for the happy few, Derujinsky convinced his editors Carmel Snow and Diana Vreeland to send him around the world to photograph beautiful models like Carmen Dell Orefice and his future wife, Ruth Neumann draped in expensive gowns juxtaposed against rough desert dunes or a glittering ocean at sunset. His ideas were revolutionary and they gave rise to the mystique and glamour that is now pervasive in fashion. Andrea Derujinsky will speak about her father's work and share her research into the context and story behind some of his iconic images. Andrea will have copies for sale of her recent monograph of his work highlighting major contributions to the history of fashion and photography.
