Rangiora New Life School Uniform Regulations General All uniform to be bought from authorised suppliers only. All clothing must be clearly and securely named with owner s name and initials eg A B Smith. Selections from the various sections may be worn at any time of the year depending on the weather conditions. PE uniform is only to be worn in PE classes. Body Makeup (relating to girls only): o Primary no makeup allowed. o Secondary minimal natural toned facial makeup for covering blemishes allowed. This does not include lipstick, eye shadow, eye liner etc. No coloured nail polish is to be worn. Keep fingernails trimmed. No tattoos. Piercings ie pierced ears 1 plain stud in each lower earlobe (female). No other piercings acceptable. Boys: No piercings acceptable. Accessories Scarves: PRIMARY Royal blue polar fleece (scarf). SECONDARY black polar fleece (scarf) (both available via order, from the school office). Watches are permissible. No jewellery to be worn ie bangles, necklaces, anklets, bracelets, rings. Religious or cultural icons may be worn out of sight, though they may have to be removed at the discretion of teachers (eg for practical subjects). WEARING OF SCHOOL TIE School tie is optional, but must be worn for formal occasions as requested (ie Prizegiving, formal functions etc) and, for boys, MUST be worn if the blazer is worn. Hair and Accessories Hair must be neat, clean, and be able to be combed. Hair is to be natural in colouring. Extreme hairstyles are unacceptable. Girls - hair must be kept off the face and not hang in front of the eyes. Plain school coloured (red, blue, black brown or white) hair ties, clips or headbands may be used for this purpose. For Primary girls, hair is to be tied up if shoulder length. For Secondary girls, hair must be tied up in practical classes such as science and technology. Boys hair must be cut so it is off the face and does not hang in front of eyes. It must also be able to be combed. Boys must also be clean shaven. Boys - No piercings permitted.

Headwear Summer Primary: Royal Blue Aussie or Bucket style hat. Secondary: Royal Blue Aussie or Bucket style hat or cap (optional). Winter (Optional) Primary: Royal blue polar fleece beanie (available on order, through the school office). Secondary: Plain black polar fleece beanie (available on order, through the school office). Undergarments Singlets or thermals worn under uniform, especially polo shirts and shirts, must be white and not visible below or through uniform. Jackets Plain navy or black jacket/rain coat to be worn for warmth or rain protection. Also refer to tracksuit requirements under PE and Sports Uniform. Footwear all levels Primary: soft black leather shoe or fully black leather dress shoe (able to be polished). Secondary: fully black leather dress shoe (able to be polished). Shoes must be clean and tidy. Black, plain sandals.

Girls Uniform Unless otherwise stated all uniform listed is compulsory Primary (Years 0 8) Uniform Options Summer : White short-sleeved polo shirt (with school logo). Culottes or skirt in light blue tartan. White ankle socks. How it is to be worn Shirt out over culottes or skirt. Winter: White long-sleeved polo shirt (with school logo). Years 0-4 pinafore in school tartan. Years 5 6 kilt or pinafore in school tartan. Years 7 8 kilt in school tartan. Navy blue knee length socks or navy blue tights. Shirt can be either tucked in or out over kilt. Kilt to be worn no longer than the top of the ankle. Dark royal v-neck jersey or cardigan (with embroidered logo) or royal blue polar fleece (with embroidered logo). Neatly over regulation top. Secondary (Years 9 13) Uniform Options Summer: White short-sleeved fitted blouse (with school logo). Navy-blue double inverted pleat skirt. White ankle socks or opaque black tights/stockings. How it is to be worn Skirt to be worn no shorter than the top of the knee cap. Winter: White long-sleeved pleated and fitted blouse. Kilt in school tartan (Royal Stewart Red) or Navy-blue double inverted pleat skirt. Opaque black tights or knee length navy blue socks. Kilt to be worn no longer than the top of the ankle. Navy blue skirt to be worn no shorter than the top of the knee cap. Navy blue skirt is to be worn with the black tights (not socks). Year 9 10 Dark royal v-neck jersey or dark royal blue cardigan (with embroidered logo) or navy blue polar fleece (with embroidered logo). The polar fleece may be worn either by itself or over the school jersey. Year 11 13 The dark royal v-neck jersey (with embroidered logo) or dark royal cardigan (with embroidered logo). Optional navy blue blazer (with embroidered logo on pocket), but if worn, must also have the red tie (boys only). Neatly over regulation top. Tie must be worn with the blazer (boys).

Boys Uniform Unless otherwise stated all uniform listed is compulsory Footwear all levels Primary: soft black leather shoe or fully black leather dress shoe able to be polished. Secondary: fully black leather dress shoe, able to be polished. Shoes need to be clean and tidy. Black, plain sandal optional for SUMMER (worn without socks). Primary (Years 0 8) Uniform Options Summer: Royal blue polo shirt (with school logo). Grey shorts (two styles elastic with no fly or band with zip fly). Grey ankle cotton socks. How it is to be worn Shirt out over shorts. Winter: Royal blue long-sleeved polo shirt (with school logo). Grey shorts or trousers. Grey knee length socks (two royal blue stripes). Shirt tucked into rousers or out over shorts. Socks must be pulled up. Dark royal v-neck jersey (with embroidered logo) or Royal blue polar fleece (with embroidered logo). Neatly over regulation top. Secondary (Years 9 13) Uniform Options Summer: White short-sleeved shirt. Navy dress shorts or trousers. Navy ankle socks. If belt required it needs to be black, buckled type. How it is to be worn If the shirt has a straight hem, it may be worn untucked, shirts with a tail must be tucked in. Socks must be pulled up. Winter: White long-sleeved dress shirt. Navy dress shorts or trousers. Navy knee length socks. If belt required it needs to be black, buckled type. Long sleeve tail shirt must be tucked in. If the shirt has a straight hem it does not have to be tucked in. Socks must be pulled up. Year 9 10 Dark royal v-neck jersey (with embroidered logo) or navy blue polar fleece (with embroidered logo). The polar fleece may be worn either by itself or over the school jersey. Year 11 13 Dark royal v-neck jersey (with embroidered logo). Optional Navy blue blazer (with embroidered logo on pocket) is but if worn, must also have the red tie. Neatly over regulation top. Tie must be worn with the blazer.

Unisex Physical Education Uniform Primary & Secondary Royal blue and white sports shirt (available from The Warehouse) Black sports shorts. Black tracksuit pants, (Asics style) optional. Normal school polar fleece or jersey to be worn if cold. Royal blue and white jacket (optional) (available from The Warehouse). White sports socks. Sports shoes. Primary are permitted to come to school in PE uniform on the days they have PE. Black compression (or gym) tights may be worn under shorts for Secondary and Primary students.
