MODERN HOW-TO Day to Night Adeline Chung-Feder, Aloxxi artistic team member, says of the line, I like Aloxxi because there is minimal guess work. It s kind of point and shoot, like a digital camera today. But for an advanced colorist it allows creativity. 1 2 BEFORE 4 COLOR STEPS 1. Before coloring, pull up a strand from the crown and push against the cuticle to determine porosity. Also twist the strand to determine density (this model did not need a filler). Next, place color primer into palm of hand. 2. Apply primer throughout the hair. Saturate to desensitize the skin around the hairline and to prep the hair to better accept the color.. Section the hair as shown. Isolate the top leaving a twoinch parting along the rounds. 4. Now create a zigzag parting within the two-inch panel section.. Using the end of a tail comb, pull out a diagonal slice. 6. Apply 7XR Firenze Fire (Aloxxi Chroma, permanent color) medium-intense red blonde with 0-volume developer in back-to-back foils within the first zigzag parting. 7. In the next section, blend 8K (light Copper Blonde) with 40-volume developer. Place in back-to-back foils within this zigzag section. 8. Create alternating shades along the rounds within the zigzags. 9. Go to the nape. Apply equal parts Aloxxi Tones GR and R to make a reddish brown. Blend with its dedicated activator. Apply in single process application. 10. Use the same shade along the top and process for 2 minutes after last application at room temperature. 11. Rinse. Once water runs clear apply, Aloxxi Colourlock. Massage into hair and then rinse no shampoo. 6 9 7 10 11 PRODUCTS AND TOOLS Color: Color Prime, Tones No Lift Demi- Permanent Colour, Blue Developer, permanent Chroma Crème Colour, all Aloxxi Shampoo and Conditioner: ColourCare Hydrating Shampoo and Conditioner and Leave-in Conditioner, all Aloxxi Razor: Feather Razor Blower: Arrojo blowdryer by Izunami Flatiron: Arrojo iron by Izunami Brushes: Denman and Creative Triangle Curling iron: Brazilian Heat 8 104 May 2011 modernsalon.com > For more How-Tos, visit modernsalon.com
1 2 CUT AND STYLE STEPS 1. Blow dry the hair with a side parting as it is to be worn and pull out a two-inch square above the color panel. Using a razor, channel cut vertically into the section to texturize. Start from two inches off the scalp. 2. Slide cut to just above the ends, holding them out to prevent cutting all the way to the ends. Lift up above the rounds so the length is not affected. The goal is to expose the color.. Flatiron vertically for a cleaner finish. BRAIDED LOOK 1. Start braiding from one side, going over the fringe area. 2. Work over to the far side, loop and secure.. Using a curling iron, create diagonal waves throughout the rest of the hair. 4. Backcomb the lengths all above the rounds of the head.. Place headband between the braid the backcombed hair. 1 2 4 1 2 AVANT GARDE LOOK 1. Take a halo parting from in front of the ear to the opposite side. Secure a high side ponytail above the parietal. 2. Place a weft of the desired shade behind the ponytail.. Place a roll or straight donut in front of the ponytail. 4. Smooth the weft and ponytail over the roll and tuck under the roll to secure.. Add a weft of the desired shade below the occipital and direct to one side and secure. 4 modernsalon.com May 2011 10
