Dress and Uniform Codes Kindergarten Dress Code 1. Students must dress neatly with no holes or tears in clothes. 2. Garments must be hemmed and appropriately sized. 3. Students should be modest: a. Clothing should not expose intimate areas of the body. [Consider various activities such as when a child is sitting, bending over, or climbing on monkey bars.] b. Clothing made of body-hugging fabric is not permitted. Leggings may only be worn underneath skirts and dresses, not shirts or clothing that looks like a shirt. c. Shirts with straps rather than sleeves are not permitted. 4. Students are to avoid wearing outlandish or distracting clothing, clothing promoting inappropriate messages or role models or logos and designs offensive to Christian sensibilities. 5. All shoes should be appropriate for running and climbing in a playground setting. All sandaltype shoes should have a back strap. 6. Kindergarteners are welcome to wear the same uniforms which students in grades 1-7 wear. 7. The Head of School is the final authority in all matters of dress code. Uniform Code Grades 1-7 CCS encourages students and parents to consider a focus on the Lord Jesus Christ, rather than fashion or behavior that exalts or calls attention to ourselves. Instead, consider this perspective: Do not let your beauty be that outward adorning of arranging the hair, of wearing gold, or of putting on fine apparel; but let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible ornament of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God (I Peter 3:3-4). 1. The Head of School will make final decisions regarding the acceptability of students uniforms. 2. The uniform policy will be enforced beginning the first day of school. Students who enroll after the school year has started will have two weeks to obtain the correct articles of clothing before violations will be recorded. If your child is out of uniform, the office will record the incident. After the second uniform violation, parents will be called and asked to bring the proper uniform items to school immediately. If the student continues to come to school out of uniform, each occurrence will be considered an act of disrespect to authority and subject to a visit to the office and possible suspension. Students who come to school with no belt will be required to rent one for the day at a cost of $2. Belts should be returned by 3:10 on the day rented. There is a $20 replacement fee for belts not returned promptly to the school office. Additional Appearance Guidelines Calvary Classical School requires all students to demonstrate neat (i.e., clean with no rips, tears, or stains) and modest dress as well as good hygiene and grooming during all school functions, including all after-school activities and school trips. Clothing should not fit too tightly or be revealing. Make-up and/or jewelry should not be excessive. As a part of the uniform policy, certain fashion practices are limited: 1. Hair: No unnatural colors are accepted. Hair must be clean and groomed neatly, not covering any part of the eyes. 2. Ear and body piercing: a. Girls may wear appropriate earrings. No other forms of body piercing are permitted to be displayed. b. Boys may not display any piercings or wear any pierced jewelry.
