WATERPROOFNESS - Footwear fabrics laminated with Sympatex achieve waterproof levels equivalent to the pressure of more than 10 metres of water (14.5psi). WINDPROOFNESS - The Sympatex membrane provides perfect protection against wind and convective heat loss. Ability to withstand high wind levels, allows the use of less insulation than would be normally required making footwear warm and comfortable. MECHANICAL STRENGTH - Sympatex is practically isotropic allowing high stretch properties in all directions. This ability, allied to high strength in loadings provides for an extremely durable lining. BARRIER PROPERTIES AGAINST BACTERIA - Tests conducted on bacteria such as Escherichia coli ATCC 11229 and Staphylococcus aureaus ATCC 26923 found the membrane to be impermeable to liquids and micro-organisms. CHEMICAL RESISTANCE - The Sympatex membrane complies with DIN standard 32 763 to provide resistance to caustic soda, nitric, hydrochloric and sulphuric acids.
