Vista Ridge Academy Students Dress Code PHILOSOPHY AND GENERAL STATEMENT TO PARENTS The matter of dress is a sensitive area. Because of differences in individual body size and maturity, the same garment may fit two different people in two very different ways. It is our desire to encourage each student to be Christ-centered, choosing a manner of dress that would be modest, neat, and bring glory to God rather than to the wearer. We believe that attire is not a salvation issue, but as a group, it is important to have the same standard for each student. Vista Ridge Academy believes that school performance and future success are enhanced by appropriate dress and grooming. Parents/Guardians are strongly encouraged to work closely with the school to insure student's adherence to these standards. Parents/Guardians are urged to enforce moderate hairstyles and high standards of dress for their student(s). Parents/Guardians will be serving the welfare of our students and help us as educators by emphasizing standards of neatness, cleanliness, safety, and modesty in dress and grooming. The Dress Code is in effect for all students while attending school functions or school sponsored activities on or off school property. Exceptions to the dress code for certain school-related events are determined by each campus administrator. While it is inevitable that there may be a difference of opinion regarding the appropriateness of clothing, grooming, and/or determining whether or not a student s attire is disruptive or distracting to the educational environment of the school, final determination will be made by the school administration. Any student who does not comply with the dress code will be removed from the regular school setting until the student complies with this code. STANDARDS TO BE FOLLOWED: Hair must be neat, clean and natural hair color. Unconventional hairstyles that are considered to be distracting and/or disruptive to the educational environment are prohibited. Students may wear natural hair colors only. For further clarification on what is unconventional, please consult with your student's School Administrator. Footwear with wheels or characters is prohibited. Rules regarding footwear for special events may altered and at the discretion of the campus administrator. Bicycle shorts, gym shorts, form fitting and skin-tight shorts or pants of spandex or other similar materials worn without appropriate cover-ups are prohibited. Leggings are not permitted. Pants shall be worn securely at the waist. Sagging is prohibited. Excessively worn, torn, frayed, oversized or long clothing is not permitted. Dresses, skirts, skorts and split-skirts will be permitted provided that they are neatly hemmed, conservative, and modest in appearance. Campus Administration will determine appropriate length.
