The New Shape of Recycling

During your lifetime you will directly or indirectly influence the lives of at least 10,000 OTHER PEOPLE. The question you need to ask yourself is, HOW WILL I INFLUENCE THEM? JOHN MAXWELL

OUR MISSION Reduce the amount of textiles that unnecessarily go to landfills by recycling and reusing textiles to re-shape our environment and the lives of people around the world. 3 PRESS KIT www.brarecycling.com What is the opportunity? Our Solution. As a textile recycling company, we have the Start A BRA-Volution! Ask any woman and she will tell you that a bra is a lingerie staple she wouldn t want to live without. But, 8 out of 10 women wear opportunity to help delay the number of textiles entering the waste stream, while providing substantial social benefits to our communities. According to SMART (Secondary Materials and Textile Recycling) Association, the average U.S citizen throws away 70 lbs of clothing each year. 95% of textiles worn or torn can be recycled, yet only 15% gets donated or recycled, it goes to landfills. the wrong sized bras and bras are one of the most requested items in shelters and transitional programs around the world. The solution, start a BRA-Volution and educate women and men around the world about recycling bras and other textiles.

WHY RECYCLE TEXTILES? Textile Recycling Facts People We Serve 85% OF TEXTILES GO TO LANDFILLS HOWEVER 95% OF WORN OR TORN TEXTILES CAN BE RECYCLED. OUR COMMUNITY & SOCIAL IMPACT The Bra Recyclers is most proud of their outreach efforts to provide a simple lingerie staple to over 70 organizations around the world. Many of these organizations have felt the economic impact of budget cuts and lack of resources to provide program participants with basic necessities to live. Our outreach efforts take us as far as Kenya. By partnering with organizations such as Purpose Quest, we were able to support a local program, Operation Petticoat, which supplied girls with approproate undergarments for school attendance. 5 PRESS KIT www.brarecycling.com

MAKING A DIFFERENCE Spotlight Many of us take for granted what we might term the everyday necessities. If a pair of shoes wears out, it s easy, we go buy some more. If a bra becomes old or stretched or breaks a hook, why we just go out and replace it. But then catastrophe strikes, the money dries up and you re left wondering, how can I afford to put food on the table, pay my electric bill or the rent. Clothes suddenly seem like a luxury, far out of reach. When I first discovered the Clothes Cabin, I was a few doors down, getting a food box. To my surprise and delight, I walked into this place that looked like a boutique. How wonderful to find clothes that you need which are not some gruesome relics of the seventies but trendy, cute things that are fun to wear. This may sound funny, but the clothes even smell good. The first time I visited the Clothes Cabin, I didn t know just what was available. Ms. Shoemaker asked, Do you need a bra? Everybody needs a bra, you said with a smile. I thought to myself, Boy do I ever! I actually found my size too. I just want to say that the Clothes Cabin is truly a Christian ministry and a Godsend for all of those people touched by hard times. Above: Caryn Shoemaker of Clothes Cabin. You have given us all a gift, far greater than the tangible garments you put on our backs. You have helped heal and restore that sense of self worth and ambition, which becomes eroded by poverty. By your example, you also inspire us to pay it forward. God bless you. Mamie, a Clothes Cabin participant in Tempe, AZ The Clothes Cabin is one of 70 charity connections we provide with bras and other clothing items. We assist organizations such as these by providing basic necessities to their communities to help them transition back to self sufficiency. 7 PRESS KIT www.brarecycling.com
