GORE WINDSTOPPER Completely windproof Maximum breathability GORER WINDSTOPPER products offer reliable protection from the windchill effect. As a result the body can devote more energy to the activity than to regulating the microclimate. This means you can stay outside longer enjoying your favourite activity in the widest range of weather conditions. Breathability is the most efficient way for the body to manage the micro climate without expending too much energy. The billion micropores in the GORE WINDSTOPPER membrane let the body s perspiration escape easily through the garment, even at high levels of physical activity, ensuring a pleasant microclimate. Left: Fabric without GORE WINDSTOPPER laminate The blue areas show that the fabric cannot withstand wind. Very quickly, you start to feel cold, even though the air temperature remains the same. Right: Fabric with GORE WINDSTOPPER laminate The red areas show that GORE WINDSTOPPER fabric is windproof. You ll stay nice and warm and will be able to retain your physical performance capacity. GORE WINDSTOPPER laminate is an extremely thin protective layer, laminated straight into the fabric, making it completely windproof. It is made of the polymer PTFE (polytetrafluorethylene), which is stretched, resulting in a microporous structure. These micropores are 900 times larger than water vapor molecules, so the moisture produced by the body can effectively escape through the fabric. Because of this, GORE WINDSTOPPER laminate provides absolute wind protection and maximum breathability to any fabric, without compromising its original breathability or adding extra weight.
