Aberdeen Catholic School System Uniform 008.1 008.1 Uniform ABERDEEN CATHOLIC SCHOOL SYSTEM UNIFORM POLICY We believe that the manner in which individuals present themselves affects how they view themselves, how they are perceived by others, and consequently, how they live out God s purpose in life. In keeping with the school mission, guiding students to acquire an appropriate definition and sense of dress is an essential part of the learning process. A uniform policy fosters a sense of equality within the student body and reflects a higher uniform standard of work to be accomplished by the students. Uniforms are required in grades K-12. Uniform Purchasing Any Donald s brand is acceptable. Other brands of unmarked khaki or navy blue uniform dress pants will be allowed. DRESS REGULATIONS FOR ALL STUDENTS ON ALL SCHOOL DAYS (Uniform & non-uniform) All students must maintain an appropriate level of personal hygiene that is neat, clean, and pleasant. Shoes are required. For grades 7-12 to be considered a shoe, said shoe must have a strap that extends around the back of the heel. Sandals with a back strap may be worn by students in grades K-6 from April 1 through the end of the year, and from the beginning of the school year through October 31. Slippers may not be worn at any time Students in grades K-6 may not wear flip-flop type sandals at any time. Uniform shirts must be tucked in at all times. If uniform sweatshirts or cardigans are worn, a designated uniform shirt must be worn underneath.
When layering uniform shirts, the shirt with the longest sleeve must be on top. Only PLAIN WHITE tee-shirts are allowed to be worn under the specified uniform shirts or blouses. Hair must be clean and neat and of a natural color. (Ex: No blue or green hair). Excessive or faddish hairstyles that cause a distraction are not permitted. Male hair length will not be long enough to touch the shirt collar. (Man buns are not allowed) Facial hair is not permitted and students must be clean shaven. This rule also applies to any Aberdeen Roncalli athletic event or activity. Jewelry for both boys and girls shall be simple and modest. No more than two earrings in each ear for girls. No other visible body piercing is allowed. The wearing of earrings by boys is not permitted. No visible tattoos are allowed. Students in K-12 may wear the approved uniform fleece jacket (or Donald s navy sweatshirt) but no other coats or jackets during school hours. THE SCHOOL ADMINISTRATION AND/OR STAFF RESERVES THE RIGHT TO DEFINE AND DETERMINE WHAT IS NEAT, CLEAN, WELL GROOMED, AND MODEST IN DRESS, CLOTHING AND APPEARANCE. RONCALLI PRIMARY AND ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS (GRADES K-6) Students are expected to be in full uniform the first day of school and for each day of the year unless otherwise directed by the administration. GIRLS Jumper: The designated plaid uniform jumper purchased from Donald s. Leggings or Tights: In any solid color to be worn under jumper or skirt only (Leggings are leg coverings which may vary in length. Tights are leg coverings which also serve as stockings because they have feet attached.) Skirts: The designated plaid skirts purchased from Donald s, in grades 5 and 6 only. Uniform skirts must extend to at least the top of the knee cap.
Blouses and Any of the designated shirts, blouses or turtlenecks from Donald s in dark green, white, light blue, dark blue and green dri fit. The Roncalli logo will adorn the green blouses and shirts. Fleece Jacket The designated navy walking shorts from Donald s. The shorts may be worn from the opening day of school until October 31in the fall. In the spring, they may be worn from April 1 until the last day of school. The designated navy cardigan with pockets, crew pullover, v- neck If any girl in primary or elementary school chooses to wear the designated navy pant from Donald s from the boy s department, she may do so. Sweatshirts and cardigans with pockets may be worn over the jumpers. BOYS Fleece Jacket Any of the designated shirts or turtlenecks from Donald s, in dark green, white, light blue, dark blue and green dri fit. The Roncalli logo will adorn the green shirts. The designated navy walking shorts from Donald s. The shorts may be worn from the opening day of school until October 31 in the fall. In the spring, they may be worn from April 1 until the last day of school. The official Roncalli navy sweatshirt sold by the School Spirit Store.
RONCALLI JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL (GRADES 7-12) Students are expected to be in full uniform the first day of school and for each day of the year unless otherwise directed by the administration. GIRLS Skirts: Tights: The designated dark blue or plaid skirt purchased from Donald s. Uniform skirts must extend to at least the top of the knee cap Any solid color to be worn under skirt only. (Tights are leg coverings which also serve as stockings because they have feet attached.) Any of the designated shirts, oxfords or polos from Donald s. Approved colors are light blue, navy, white, green and green dri fit. Green will have a logo. The designated navy or khaki walking shorts from Donald s. Fleece Jacket: If any girl in junior high school chooses to wear the designated navy pant from Donald s from the boy s or men s department, she may do so. BOYS Any of the designated shirts, oxfords or polo s from Donald s. Approved colors are light blue, navy, white, green and green dri fit. Green will have a logo.
