MORCRYL 410 for Graphic Arts Applications Description MORCRYL 410 is an ammonia neutralized styrene acrylic resin solution used for dispersing organic pigments that can be used with both conventional letdowns and our LUCIDENE Neutral ph PLUS letdowns. This dispersing resin can be used with a wide variety of pigments, offers excellent color development, and imparts outstanding viscosity stability and broad compatibility with neutral ph letdowns as well as with conventional products. It also works well with some of the more difficult to disperse pigments. Higher pigment loadings at low viscosity can be achieved with MORCRYL 410, which is important when using higher line screen anilox rolls. Typical Properties These properties are typical but do not constitute specifications. Solvent Compatibility M-410 is compatible with the typical solvents used for inks and coatings applications. Note that there are several solvents that have a higher dilution profile vs. water. Polymer Compatibility of MORCRYL 410 MORCRYL 410 has excellent compatibility with both conventional letdowns and neutral ph PLUS letdowns. It is compatible with the following letdown emulsions at 1/1 ratio: LUCIDENE 370, 395, 602, 615, 604, 605NV, 361, 243, 400, 4015 PLUS, 4035 PLUS, and 4045 PLUS MORCRYL 132, 430 PLUS, and 460 PLUS RHOPLEX I-545 If some gel-like formation occurs when adding an emulsion polymer to MORCRYL 410, we recommend diluting the emulsion polymer prior to addition and, if possible, add as the last step in the formulation. We also observed if some micro gel does form, it typically dissolves after 24 hours. Dispersion Preparation Premix: Weigh liquid ingredients into blender Mix for 20 seconds to homogenize Add pigment in 3 equal parts (mixing and wetting before next part is added) Blend premix for 10 minutes Grind: Pour into high speed media mill (Eiger Mini-100 horizontal mill) and mill 10 minutes/5000 rpms (Measure the amperage draw and temperature to ensure high shear forces are generated.)
