When hair loss becomes a problem It grows, hangs around on our head for years and falls out. We lose copious amounts of hair on a daily basis. You'll find it on your pillow, on your brush or in the plug hole after you've washed your hair and that's totally normal. Doctors only consider patients to have serious re-growth problems if they are losing more than 120 hairs a day over a long period of time The most common form of hair loss is that caused by hormones, commonly known as androgenetic alopecia. This affects around 70 percent of all men and 30 percent of women. It is caused by an inherited over-sensitivity of the hair roots to the body's own neurotransmitter dihydrotestosterone (DHT). DHT is produced in the scalp from the sex hormone testosterone. DHT attaches itself to certain receptors in the hair roots and causes the blood vessels which are important for supplies to the hair roots to regress. The hair no longer has a sufficient supply of nutrients, meaning it reaches the resting phase (catagen phase) faster and therefore falls out sooner. This process is repeated over numerous cycles and the hair becomes weaker and thinner. Unlike hair loss caused by hormones, in the case of diffuse hair loss, hair doesn't just fall out in some areas. During the growth phase, the hair follicles are damaged for various reasons and therefore reach the resting phase sooner. This means that there is less and less hair overall and it thins evenly. It is mainly women who are affected by this type of hair loss. The most common causes are hormonal imbalance during pregnancy and the menopause, stress, an unbalanced diet or extreme dieting, environmental pollutants and incompatibilities, e.g. with chemicals in hair products.
A process of constant renewal: the life cycle of hair Hair is produced in the hair follicle, which encloses the hair root from the outside. Its cells are among the most active in our bodies, dividing around five times faster than normal skin cells. The energy for this comes from tiny blood vessels, a dense network of which surrounds the follicle and supplies it with nutrients. Each hair passes through three phases, then it falls out and the hair cycle starts afresh. The growth phase (anagen phase): The hair root is in tip-top condition, supplies the hair with all the nutrients it needs and allows it to grow 10 15 mm a month on average. Around 85 percent of hair is in this active condition. How long hair grows for is hereditary. Normally, the growth phase ends after 3 to 7 years. The resting phase (catagen phase): The hair root shrinks and hardens. The cells slowly stop dividing and hair growth stops. Around 1 percent of hair is at this stage, which lasts 3 to 4 weeks. Hair loss (telogen phase): The hair's hold in the follicle channel gets looser and looser. The hair may fall out when it is simply combed, brushed or washed. Around 14 percent of hair is in this phase, which lasts 2 to 4 months. During this time, the follicle regenerates, a new hair grows back and the cycle starts afresh. As each hair follicle has its own internal clock, the hairs on your head are never all in the same phase. 70 to 100 hairs grow back every day, meaning that normal hair loss of up to 100 hairs a day goes unnoticed. How the Phyto Hair Booster Tonic works When used consistently, the PHYTO HAIR BOOSTER Tonicsupports natural hair growth in three ways: Activation In the first stage, the plant-based complex with caffeine and special active ingredients promotes the flow of blood through the scalp and strengthens the hair roots. Development In the second stage, active ingredients, such as panthenol, biotin and vitamin B3, stimulate the production of hair. Care If used daily, the PHYTO HAIR BOOSTER Tonic maintains the result achieved and effectively protects the hair roots from oxidative stress with vitamin E. The PHYTO HAIR BOOSTER Care Shampoo used alongside the tonic strengthens and vitalises the hair using selected plant extracts, panthenol and biotin. Even if used daily, the ph-neutral formulation doesn't leach out the hair shaft. In fact, the opposite is true and the shampoo gives damaged, tired hair a healthy-looking silky shine and supplies the hair with lots of important nutrients. medipharma cosmetics PHYTO HAIR BOOSTER Tonic and Care Shampoo: The duo with plant-based active ingredients for healthy hair growth!
