aw 2014-2015 collection

But, said Alice, if the world has absolutely no sense, who s stopping us from inventing oone? Lewis Carroll

Pouti Paris is a young French luxury label specially designed for girls aged 4 to 14. Eve Ducroq, founder of the brand, aims to reconnect with the haute couture tradition in terms of style, cut and image and to continue this heritage of perfect clothing design, using just the right materials. Our hand-crafted patterns, the basis for our clothing design, roots this young company in the French tradition for excellence and luxury. The pieces are created in a French dressmaking workshop. Each item is individually assembled, with an emphasis on hand stitching. Great care is taken in each stage of the production process. The fabric is cut piece by piece, and the clothes are put together by hand. They are adjusted for ultimate comfort before being assembled. The entire raison d être of Pouti Paris is to create something beautiful, to make it last and to cultivate its essence. The range is style-conscious in its own way. In every collection, it will represent the «vocabulary» for a kind of elegance and originality created exclusively for children. The Pouti Paris wardrobe is in the wonderful position of being great fun for both the creators and the wearers.

Pouti s collection The Autumn/Winter 2014-2015 collection confidently represents a beautiful, timeless simplicity. It is inspired by the winter tales in which Mademoiselle Pouti grows up with ease, both carefree and mischievous. In turn, she is Gretel, Little Riding Hood, the haughty doe, and the style-conscious girl who has left the forest... She is gradually transformed by this wardrobe. Each piece is designed to achieve a truly unpretentious outfit, exclusively made with our expertise. The materials, the strong point of our collection, are deliberately selected for comfort with style: jacquard weaves, damask, ostrich feathers, silk, wool, all soft and shimmering textures, enhanced with bias binding and invisible hems, decorated with delicate buttons and ribbons - you re never too young to be elegantly refined. For its Autumn/Winter 2014-2015 collection, Eve Ducroq tells the story of a winter tale where the heroine, who in turn is Alice, Gretel, Little White Riding Hood... leaves the forest and her enchanted universe to be transformed into a little Parisian belle, becoming Mademoiselle Pouti. The story of a little girl who, in the end, is not so different from its founder: Eve Ducroq was born in Paris, a few decades earlier. I did not come from a fashion or artistic background, even if my mother was a great lover of haute couture, of art and design in general, however it was expressed. Encouraged initially by her father, my grandfather, to learn about and to love beautiful fabric, I inherited from her a certain acuity and the desire to touch materials such as taffeta, tabinet, crepe de chine, Shandong silk. She also has an innate sense of style. For many years, she made all my clothes from scratch, or she would brighten up a dress that was a little on the dull side with a certain je ne sais quoi, such as the «swirly skirt» she made me from a complete circle. I remember it was the envy of all my friends in the playground.

The second collection goes further in establishing the brand identity, and is more audacious. I worked with the stylist in a very fluid way, I talked about fairy tales, baby dolls, children that could be a little naughty, Russian dolls, trips to the countryside... we both thought about how we could keep the lines simple, while putting great emphasis on each detail, for example a sleeve lined with a golden jacquard weave, which you only see when the girl walks and moves, in some ways only she knows about it, but that s what I like. I ve always been certain that what you can t see counts as much as what you can, that s what makes it beautiful, like the brush of a taffeta underskirt underneath a long dress. Eve Ducroq s plan is to create a true fashion house for children. I want to establish my brand, taking time to build it up without overwhelming it, to play around in the luxury brand playground in my own way, tentatively at first, and then to conquer it in the long term. The third collection, Spring/Summer 2015, will make no concessions to current trends, I prefer to focus on what is beautiful, a source of inexhaustible inspiration. I have in my head ideas for a raw, intense style, and I want to move towards pieces that are even stronger, mixing simplicity with a kind of madness.

Mademoiselle Pouti, as her parents called her from a young age, pursued her studies in Paris. Graduating from the École du Louvre, she wrote an essay, «Custom-made» reflections on the clothing objects of the artist Jean-Charles Blais. She then worked between fashion and the arts, at the Musée de la Mode et du Textile, designing exhibitions with Pamela Golbin, the curator of 20th century collections. After several wonderful years as Communications Manager at the Palais de la Découverte, then Marketing Manager at Cité des Sciences, she wanted to return to more creative pursuits. I wanted to bring together two worlds that were dear to me, fashion and childhood. I had a strong motivation and a very precise idea of what I wanted to do, which gave me an incredible drive to create this brand when I was still working at Cité des Sciences. Since then, she has entered the world of fashion, observing, meeting, discussing and making her way step by step towards her first collection. I was lucky to meet the right people at the right time. Self-taught, she cannot sew but she is surrounded by a team, a stylist, designer, dressmaker and other experts, who like the project and who were encouraged by her to join in the adventure. A first collection was born, and the professionals liked it, including the Stéphane Poncelet showroom, who immediately decided to represent the brand «that makes distinctive clothing for the French luxury market. They soon fell in love with it Stateside as well, with American customers ordering several pieces, so that their daughters could look like pretty little Parisians.
