CATEGORIES & CRITERIA MEN S CUTTING (SENIOR) 50MINS Participants will display the newest, hottest and coolest hairstyles for today s modern man, using contemporary techniques and finishing the cut with the latest in product selection. WORKING TIME 30mins on Floor A male model must be used. No wigs, hair pieces or extensions allowed A significant amount of hair must be removed from the whole head It is preferred that the hair is styled ready for judging no extra time will be given for this Hair may be pre coloured MEN S CUTTING (APPRENTICE/STUDENT) 1HOUR 5MINS Participants will display the newest, hottest and coolest hairstyles for today s modern man, using contemporary techniques and finishing the cut with the latest in product selection. Incorporating traditional barbering techniques to produce high fashion looks and trends. Entrants will cut, style, groom and dress the hair to reflect the latest barbershop hairstyles. Track work can be included. WORKING TIME 30mins on Floor A male model must be used. Traditional barbering techniques (Scissor/ Clipper over comb) must be used to complete the style No wigs, hair pieces or extensions allowed A significant amount of hair must be removed from the whole head It is preferred that the hair is styled ready for judging no extra time will be given for this Hair may be pre coloured

Colour work is pre-done and the model will be presented on the day. A mood/story board will show where your inspiration came from. Inspiration should come from high fashion magazines and artists. WORKING TIME 45mins on Floor A female model must be used. No wigs allowed An average of 2cm must be removed from the majority of the head It is preferred that the hair is blow dried and styled ready for judging no extra time will be given for this. Hair may be pre - coloured attendance until all winners are announce LADIES CUTTING (APPRENTICE/STUDENT) 1HOUR 20MINS Modern hairstyles that will showcase the participant s artistic innovation and flare. Inspiration should come from high fashion magazines and artists. WORKING TIME 1hour on Floor A female model must be used. No wigs allowed An average of 2cm must be removed from the majority of the head It is preferred that the hair is blow dried and styled ready for judging no extra time will be given for this. Hair may be pre - coloured

CATEGORIES & CRITERIA CONT. UP STYLING - TRADITIONAL (OPEN) 1HOUR 20MINS This category is open to both apprentices and senior stylists. Up styles will reflect and be inspired by the good old classics including: french rolls, chignons, victory rolls and barrel curls. No ornamentation or hairpieces allowed with the exception of padding. WORKING TIME 1 hour on Floor No section of the hair is to be in a completed form prior to Traditional e.g. French roll, Chignon, Victory roll, Bun, Braiding Barrel curls - The use of padding is allowed in this category. All tools and styling aids allowed Bobby pins etc will be provided by the participant (no double adaptors allowed) Hair may be pre-coloured Hair may be pre-set in rollers, pre curled or crimped prior to the event UP STYLING - AVANT GARDE (OPEN) 1HOUR 20MINS This category is open to both apprentices and senior stylists. Up styles in this category will favour or introduce new and experimental ideas and innovative methods. Ornamentation and hairpieces allowed. WORKING TIME 1 hour on Floor No section of the hair is to be in a completed form prior to Hair pieces, extensions or ornamentation will be allowed in the Avant Garde category and these can be in a completed state prior however significant change must occur to the models original hair. All tools and styling aids allowed Bobby pins etc will be provided by the participant Hair may be pre-coloured Hair may be pre-set in rollers, pre curled or crimped prior to the event

RULES & CONDITIONS OF ENTRY ENTRY ONLINE ENTRY REGISTRATION FOUND AT: /hair-competitions/ must be completed and received prior to the entry closing date at Midnight on Friday 14th July 2017 All Entry Fees include free Brisbane Hair and Beauty Expo access for one (1) competitor and one (1) model. GENERAL Brisbane Hair and Beauty Expo Hair Competition will be hosted on Sunday 30th and Monday 31st July 2017 at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre. Competitors must ensure that all relevant fields within the Online Entry Registration are completed, and must include all relevant payment details Online Entries can be made at www. brisbanehairandbeautyexpo.com/hair-competitions/ Online Entry Registrations that are incomplete or do not include relevant payment details may not be accepted. No refunds on Competition Fees are given, however Competition Entry Fees are transferable. Any Online Entries received after the entry closing date midnight (AEST) Friday 16th June 2017 will not be accepted. No refunds on Competition Fees are given, however Competition Entry Fees are transferable. Competitors must identify which competency Division they will compete in within their chosen category. The Brisbane Hair & Beauty Expo reserves the right to: a) Merge any categories/division if there are less than five competitors b) Withdraw any categories/divisions at any time prior to the Competition. The Competition organizers are not responsible for competitors not adhering to or understanding the Competition Rules and Regulations. The Competition organizers are not responsible for verifying each competitor enters into the correct division. The Competition organizers will rectify where necessary, but cannot verify all. Participants must abide by the relevant Category Criteria (found online at /haircompetitions); disqualification may occur if the relevant Competition Criteria is not adhered to. Judges would like to see the latest in hair and fashion. Your inspiration should come from high fashion magazines. All categories will be judged as a total look (Top to Toe). Participants must have their own styling products to use to complete the style. All participants receiving coaching during the competition will be asked to leave the floor. Once the competition has started, participants must stay on the competition floor with their model at all times No mobile phones, ipods or MP3 players are to be on the competition floor. Models must not touch their own hair whilst on the competition floor. There will be no basins for use for shampooing of the hair. Hair will be wet down with a water spray only.... REGISTRATION AND ASSEMBLY All competitors must register on the day of their competition at the Competition Registration/Assembly area. All participants will need to register at the Competition Registration/ Assembly Area inside the Exhibition Hall at least 30 minutes before the starting time of their chosen category. Participants will be allocated 5-10 minutes to set up their workstation within the competition area prior to the start time of their competition. Please refer to timetable A permission to photograph will be signed by both participant and model at Competition Registration/Assembly prior to competing.

RULES & CONDITIONS OF ENTRY CONT. ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT & ELECTRICITY Participants must have all of their own equipment ready to begin at the allocated time (you will not be allowed to borrow from other competitors). The Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre (BCEC) Management reserves the right to request removal from the site of any electrical equipment it deems to be non-compliant or suspect and can call upon internal specialists to assist when necessary. All portable electrical equipment, appliances and leads used on the BCEC site must be tested and tagged in accordance with Australian Standard 3760 and Workplace Health & Safety Legislation. Any electrical equipment found not tested will have to be done immediately or removed from the Centre. Each participant will be provided with 1 (one) electrical power point ONLY for use on the competition floor. For safety reasons, double adaptors are not to be used in the Centre. Any person who suffers an electric shock from any piece of electrical equipment MUST report the incident IMMEDIATELY to the Centre s Security Department. JUDGING Judging will be at the completion of each category. 15-10 minutes will be allocated for judging on the competition floor. On completion of judging, all competitors will allow their models to be photographed by an official photographer; this may be used for future marketing or advertising purposes. The judges decision is final. PRESENTATIONS (1 ST, 2 ND, 3 RD PLACE FOR EACH CATEGORY) Award presentations will be made to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place getters in each category at approximately 3.15pm on each day of the event on Centre Stage (time is subject to slight change). On completion of presentations, 1st, 2nd and 3rd place getters will allow their models to be photographed; this may be used for future marketing, social media or advertising purposes. LIABILITY Each competitor and model assumes all risk for any liabilities, expense, loses, damages and costs resulting directly or indirectly from their participation in the Competition and indemnifies the Competition coordinator, Brisbane Hair and Beauty Expo any employee, officer or agent or Major League Corporate Marketing for any expense, loss, damage, liability or cost (including legal costs on a full indemnity basis and whether incurred by or awarded against a party) resulting directly or indirectly from the negligent or unlawful acts or omission of a competitors or models. The Brisbane Hair and Beauty Expo, its Organisers (Major League Marketing), employees, officers and agents, Competition Coordinator and the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre shall not be held accountable or liable for any liabilities, expenses, losses, damages, harm, injury or costs incurred by a competitor or model resulting directly or indirectly from their participation in the Competition.
