Here are the break downs for commissions for our 4 venues. Desert Botanical Garden: 20% Commission to DBG, 10% to SAL, 70% to Artists. All proceeds go to our Scholarship Program. SAL paints in the Garden every Saturday of March and set up tables and panels to sell our artwork. In April SAL has a three day show featuring work done in the Garden. To date this is our biggest show/sale. Entry fees includes free access to the Garden on the Saturday Paint out days. DBG purchases one artwork for $200.00 from one artist. This artwork gets the full $200. Paid by DBG. Westminster Village Show: 20% Commission to WMV, 10% to SAL, 70% to Artists. This is a (3) three month show that is Ongoing and the work will change out. The $25 fee is for 3 pieces. This show will be juried and must be gallery quality. Call Marsha if early pick up is needed. The reception for SAL members and their friends, residents and their friends and is open to the public and will be held on designated dates. The hours are 6pm to 8pm. Our expense is for the Judge for $100 and our juror is revolving. Butterfly Wonderland: 20% Commission to BFW, 10% to SAL, 70% to Artists. This is an outdoor show at the entrance to the Butterfly Wonderland and by next year (2016) they should have the construction finished for the Aquarium which is on the same grounds as BFW. Our long term plan for this Show is to make it as big a venue for SAL as the DBG. There is no judging and artists can replace sold work with another artwork. Artists also get a cash prize. $500 Scholarship for Best of Show, $100 for 1st Place, $75 for 2nd Place and $50 for 3rd Place. I have been working with my son Jeff on a revolutionary easel design and testing with several accomplished Arizona artists including Mary Van Deman, and Julie Gilbert Pollard. After implementing the critiques, we are releasing the first run. Jeff s design is the first of an exciting new generation in easels. Simply put, EaselConcepts first model is a lightweight portable model, constructed of western red oak, that features unlike other easels, the ability to paint up to and around all four edges of canvases. Also, the adjustable height adds to your painting comfort, and a bonus pair of brackets is included which 9

accommodates miniature canvases and panels. This design is handcrafted and features a handy carrying handle which allows you to easily transport your wet paintings while still remaining securely attached to the easel; a smart feature for workshops and exhibits as well as in-home studio use. In addition to canvases the grip system (patent pending), is applicable to pastel boards, panels and even support boards for watercolor, mixed media and pastel. There are other models in the design stage; desk top, wall mount, etc., each of which will feature the grip system. Easel Concepts is truly An Evolution in Artist Easels. Please visit our website www.easelconcepts.com to explore the many benefits you could enjoy making your painting process simpler and much more pleasurable. Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you with any questions or comments. My contact info is below. My best regards. Barbara www.barbaraalford.com balford6192@gmail.com 541.517.8481 For our faithful SAL folks who continually attend our critiques, we will not be having a critique for the December meeting. We are pleased that so many of the members participate in our critiques. Thank you for your courage and your wonderful contribution of work each month. You have honored us with wonderful pieces and receptiveness each month. We truly have the best group in the world to work with. We are looking forward to seeing your work in January. From all of us, Donna, Dave and me, we wish you the best of this Holiday Season. Bless all of you and keep up the good work. Jim Garrison A note from your editor: Thank you all for submitting all the news needed for the newsletter in such prompt fashion. It has made my work so much easier and me very happy. 10

Work also includes helping with the set-up Friday, November 27th and the take-down Saturday, November 28th of the panels, tables, tablecloths, etc. and returning equipment to storage. Maximum size of art, (including frame) is 30 wide and 46 tall, however, if you bring smaller works we will be able to hang (read that as sell) more artwork. Once a framed, hanging artwork is sold another will replace it so there will be no limit to the amount of artwork you can sell. Framing and wiring standards for all SAL Shows apply. Title cards will be provided and must be attached to the panel and a duplicate to the actual artwork back. Show Committee has final say on all panel displays. The Inventory Sheet MUST be complete. Please list the artwork on the Inventory Sheet in the order you wish to have shown, i.e. favorite painting listed as #1, second favorite #2 and so on. Subject matter can be of an outdoor theme, desert, rainforest, fish and/or an underwater or sea, river, etc. Of course Butterflies, Moths, Dragonflies and Bees are welcome. If you have cards, prints, jewelry, magnets, or other small miscellaneous artwork let the Show Committee know in advance so they can divide up the tables equally. Tables will be provided. Separate Inventory Sheets for table items will need to be completed and turned into the Show Committee. Questions?
