8 EXPORT CARVED SANDALWOOD CARD CASE QING DYNASTY, 19TH CENTURY deeply carved on both sides with figures gathered in groups amongst willow trees and in pavilions, with fitted case, 11cm high; together with another CARVED WOOD CARD CASE, 11cm high (2) 9 PAIR OF 'EROTIC SUBJECT' WOOD BOXES AND COVERS of circular shape, each decorated in low relief on the cover with an amorous couple, the sides with stylised flower heads, the base with an archaistic dragon, with fitted box. 7.3cm diameter 10 CARVED WOOD LINGZHI SCEPTRE the gnarled stem bearing two lingzhi fungi, the wood of an attractive lustrous dark tone, 35.5cm long 400-500 (+ fees) 11 CARVED HARDWOOD LINGZHI SCEPTRE naturalistically carved as a large lingzhi fungus borne on a gnarled stem issuing further smaller lingzhi 43cm long 150-200 (+ fees) 12 Y IVORY OVERLAID HARDWOOD BRUSHPOT overlaid in stained ivory with five immortals floating on lingzhi clouds above mountains carved in low relief 15cm high 13 HARDWOOD CIRCULAR BOX AND PIERCED COVER the cover finely pierced with a multitude of stylised dragons with sinuous bodies, encircled by a key-fret border, the sides decorated with wanzi symbols amongst trellis design, 20cm diameter 14 INCISED FACETED WOOD BRUSHPOT incised on six facets with peony, orchid and lotus sprays issuing from rockwork, and a butterfly and dragonfly flitting by, 14cm high 100-150 (+ fees) 15 CONJOINED HARDWOOD SQUARE-SECTION BRUSHPOT incised and gilt with the poem Lantern Festival (Shang Yuan Ye) by the Tang Dynasty poet Cui Ye, within scroll borders inlaid in silver, 15cm high 16 TWO TIXI LACQUER CIRCULAR BOXES AND COVERS both carved through alternating layers of cinnabar and black lacquer with ruyi heads surrounding a central flower head, the first covered with cinnabar, the second with black lacquer on the outermost layer; together with a SMALL CINNABAR LACQUER CIRCULAR BOX AND COVER (3), largest 7.5cm diameter 17 LACQUERED CIRCULAR BOX AND COVER carved through black lacquer to show scholars and attendant amongst trees and mountains all reserved on a red diaper ground, the sides of the box and the cover carved with floral and geometric leiwen patterns 13cm diameter 18 PEACH-FORM 'INSECTS AND FLOWERS' LACQUER BOX AND COVER the cover carved in relief with different species of insects, including dragonfly and mantis, amid large chrysanthemum and peony flower heads upon a deeper layer of leaves, the sides carved with further flowers and leaves, both the interior and the bottom black-lacquered, 23cm wide 350-450 (+ fees) 19 CINNABAR LACQUER RECTANGULAR TRAY the rectangular tray with a central panel depicting scholars and attendants in a garden beside a pavilion, raised on four short bracket feet, 25.2cm wide 2 100-150 (+ fees)
