A space for you and your ideas
Blue Shop Cottage is a converted shop in Camberwell. In the past it has been a bookshop, a hairdressers and as far back as 1940 it was even a local café. The space has since been rennovated by graphic designer and illustrator Ocki Magill in 2016 and is now a pop up space, gig venue, gallery and events space supporting local people, artists and musicians. Camberwell is a lively part of South East London sitting between Brixton and Peckham but Denmark Hill itself needs more life for its thousands of residents. A 1 min walk from the station Blue Shop is in key position and explains why the locals are loving it so much.

BLUE SHOP SESSIONS Every month in 2017 Ocki and Cameron Niven, a friend and local folk musician, host monthly gigs for local musicians selling 40 tickets with three performances per evening. All events have sold out and each one is decorated slightly differently drawing different acts and crowds. The evenings have become well known in the area and they will soon be looking to doing solo performances complete with food and a bar. Watch this space. We are also currently looking for a drinks sponsor.

MAY 2017 THE BAKED SALT CAFE Janie Fraser of Baked Salt used to have a gorgeous café down in Louhgborough Junction but sadly had to leave due to the selling of the space. So we lept in and Janie did a 5 week stint at Blue Shop selling Old Spike Roast Coffees, Little Pedlar Bakery croissants, homemade wraps and cakes and did an all round sterling job welcoming in all the local residents and providing a space for new Mums to gather and hang out in the summer sun. We even did a cup-take-over with illustratorjess Wheeler. Nice.
2017 SPREAD LONDON SUPPER CLUBS Running throughout the year at Blue Shop, Emma and Jess put on the most gorgeous events here celbrating locally sourced ingredients and transforming the space into a delicious oasis of plants, flowers, cocktails and food that will blow your mind.
JUNE 2017 THE COCK&TAIL COCKTAIL BAR Fred and his boys took over the shop with their gorgeous wooden bar and together we decorated the windows and filled the space with plants and books and hooked up a soundsystem. Live Music and incredible cocktails meant people poured in and Cock&Tail are returning at the end of the summer.
SEPT 2017 FLORIST GUMP FLOWER SHOP Jess Lucas, a local florist, decided to take over the shop for a week and transform it into an oasis of leaves and colour. She sold pre potted plants and cacti as well as arranging small to large bunches for all the South East London locals. With an opening launch party and heavy footfall throughout the week, in the gorgeous end of summer sun, Jess and her wonderful team did a fantastic job and we hope to see her again next year!
