It works on all of the levels of the skin, from the inside out, to smooth the surface, even skin tone, plump and hydrate. Gluconolactone is made up of multiple hydroxyl groups (as opposed to a single hydroxyl group like other AHAs, such as glycolic acid) that attract water, providing enhanced moisturization. Even though it is gentler than traditional AHAs, it has been found to provide the same textural improvements when used over the same period of time. This includes skin smoothing, improved clarity and brightness, a reduction in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and a more even skin tone. In addition, gluconolactone conditions and builds the skin s barrier function, which increases protection against irritants and helps to retain moisture. This gentle, yet highly effective ingredient is suitable for all skin types. Because of its polyhydroxy acid structure, it penetrates into the skin gently so that patients/clients will not experience stinging, itching, burning or redness that may occur with other AHA use. Lactobionic Acid, a polyhydroxy bionic acid derived from milk sugar, is a potent antioxidant with humectant properties that strongly attracts and binds water. Its unique hydra-film delivers moisture and provides softness and a velvety smoothness to the skin. Lactobionic acid formulations reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and plump the skin layers. ALPHA HYDROXYACIDS Glycolic Acid is found in its natural state in sugar cane. It is the smallest molecule of the AHA family and therefore is optimally absorbed into the skin. Clinical studies have shown that sustained daily treatment with low concentrations of glycolic acid brings about a normal stratum corneum with increased resiliency, and enhanced cell renewal, as well as a plumper, firmer skin matrix. Citric Acid is an antioxidant alpha and beta hydroxy acid that is used in both foods and skin care products. Its antioxidant benefits help minimize the damaging effects of the sun and pollution.
