Review the problem and think of an idea that could help solve it. Consider the possible pros and cons of your idea. Problem: Idea Pros Cons

Possible Solutions Here are some potential solution ideas. I m including this list in case your students are having a hard time thinking of ideas. I encourage you to let students try the problems before sharing ideas or examples. This builds critical thinking and problem solving skills. Of course, with tasks such as these, there is no one correct answer, these are just ideas: 1. attach a sticker magnet to the back of the nametag, and use a magnet through the shirt to wear it. 2. create a cloth strap that is held together by magnets 3. attach magnets to the front of the binder so that it stays closed. 4. attach a magnet to a stick and softly swish it in the sand like a metal detector (this is assuming that the necklace is made of magnetic material, many but not all are). 5. attach a sticker magnet to both sides of the wallet so they stick together 6. attach a a magnetic strip to the door and edge of the cabinet so it stays closed (this is how refrigerator doors work!) 7. attach a sticker magnet to the desk and make nametags with magnets attached or on magnetic paper. 8. Attach a magnet to her keychain, and then whenever they are lost, use a magnet wand to find them 9. Use a magnetic wand or other long magnet to pick up the pieces 10. Attach a magnetic strip on the bathroom wall and always put the tools back there (idea from Pinterest!) 11. attach a magnet to the string and go fishing 12. Line the bottom of a box with magnetic strips, and store screws and bolts in that box, that way they will stick to the magnets 13. Use small magnets to place on the top of the bill and behind the card so it stays put 14. line the lips of the envelope with a magnetic strip 15. stick a magnetic strip to the wall or mirror so she can always just keep the hairpins there 16. attach a magnet to the pencil and to part of the inside of the backpack so he can stick the pencil there each day 17. create a magnetic bookmark with two magnetic strips or magnetic stickers 18. attach a magnet to the end of a ruler or stick and slide it under the seat of the car 19. use magnetic buttons to stick the straps together 20. attach magnets to both ends of the bracelet so they clasp together
