Properly Applying Loose Fitting Victoria 4 Clothing to Genesis or Genesis 2 Female in DAZ 3D Those of you who have every tried to use Auto-fit to apply loose-fitting, upper torso clothing items for Victoria 4 onto Genesis or Genesis 2 Female have certainly experienced "magnetic underboob" effect. This jacket should hang off her breasts but instead it clings to every crevis of her form like an underwire bra. I don't know about the fashion trends in your neck of the woods, but where I come from, this would invoke confused looks and scientific curiosity. Thankfully this is a fairly easy remedy. System Requirements This demonstration uses DAZ Studio 4.6. You will also need a copy of Genesis with Victoria 4 morphs installed. Load Genesis Leave the Genesis figure the default position.
Load the Desired Article of Clothing If you had Genesis ask, DAZ Studio will ask if you want to auto-fit the object to Genesis. If you unselected Genesis you'll need invoke the dialog manually. To do so, select the object and navigate to the Parameter pane. Select the General menu and hit the Fit-To button. In the Auto-Fit dialog box it will ask you what sort of figure the piece of clothing was designed for and what type of item it is. Use Unsupported for question about figures and None of the item type. Limiting the Victoria 4 Shaping Although things look on Genesis without any morphs, but if you attempted to apply Victoria 4's morphs to Genesis right now, you'll see that the object has a little too much... ummm... emphasis in places.
When you apply Victoria 4's shape to Genesis, the shaping modification passed on to the clothing item via auto-follow. Assuming the item you're using was already form-fitted to V4's shape before the conversion, this shaping over-project the Victoria 4 shape so that it now twice as much of her. We're going to fix this. Select Genesis and open the Parameters pane if you haven't already. In General > Actors > Female, increase the Victoria 4 shape to 100%. Select the clothing item and open the Parameter pane. In the context menu make sure Show Hidden Items is checked. You should see an menu option called Actors. In this menu you'll see FBMVictoria4. This is the shaping influence passed on by Genesis. Click on the gear icon to open the context menu and select Parameter Settings.
Check Use Limits. Set Min to 0 and Max to 0. There is a range in which the model shouldn't become overly disorted, but since that depends entirely on the model being used, you'll have to experiment with what those values should be on your own. Adjust the Fit There may need to be some slight adjustments made to your clothes. Occassionally, you will need to transfer the rigging from your Genesis model and adjust it the shape. I'll leave that up to you to determine.
And Your Done That's all there is to it. Save your new clothing item to your library and render away! Q & A Q: Is This Strictly for Tops This process works on all sorts of products, but other types of clothing items may require more or less customizing. Layered clothing
items take a little more work, but totally doable. Q: When Should I Not Use This Process Tight fitting clothes generally don't have a problem, so the 20,000 corsets made for Victoria 4 can be spared. I definitely wouldn't use this on shoes. To get shoes to fit without distortion a different pocess is in order. Q: Does This Work for Genesis 2 Female The process is exactly the same. That being said, handles the auto-fit process better. Q: Does This Work for Michael 4 Clothing If you want to fit Michael 4 Clothing to a Michael 4 Shaped Genesis (or Genesis 2 Male), then the basic principles presented here apply. If you want to use Michael 4 Clothing on a Victoria 4 Shaped Genesis, then you'll want to use the process I alluded to with shoes. Here's a article of Michael 4 Clothing on a Genesis 2 Female.
