In rinse-off products it is recommended to incorporate into the concentrated surfactants. In O/W-emulsions the incorporation into the water or oil phase is possible. The viscosity of can be reduced by dilution with glycerin or the parfum. The dosage of is depending on the desired effect. Typical dosages are between,5 and 2,%. When used at higher concentrations may affect the emulsion stability. may influece the performance of some polymeric gelling agents. As frequently observed for anionic surface active ingredients the ph of the final formulation with may shift to lower values. In aqueous or alcoholic solutions the use of a solubilizer may be necessary. against Malassezia furfur activity against dandruff The yeast Malassezia furfur (old name: Pityrosporum ovale) is known to be a main influencing factor in the formation of dandruff. Therefore all dandruff actives are targeting to eliminate Malessezia furfur on the scalp. As most cosmetic antidandruff products are rinse-off concepts an appropriate active has to exhibit both rapid kill and substantivity to the skin. is perfectly fulfilling these requirements as has been demonstrated in in-vitro and in-vivo studies. in-vitro tests with A) aqueous solution with 2,5% Polyglyceryl- Laurate ph 5,3 B) Shampoo formulation ph 5,3 2,% Piroctone Olamine,75% 2 minutes 3 4 5 6 R R2 R3 d c p It becomes evident that the in-vitro performance in the presence of surface active ingredients in the shampoo is considerable slower than in water with Polyglyceryl- Laurate as solubilizer. against Propionibacterium acnes activity against acne Acne is a local inflammation on the skin. In the first step an excess sebum production is plugging skin pores. The warm and moist conditions in the closed pores are perfect to promote the growth of anaerobic microorganisms such as Propionibacterium acnes. The growing population of microorganisms is stimulating an inflammation reaction that leads to visible red pimples. Consequently an acne treatment concept is aiming to -control the sebum excretion -fight the microorganisms -stop the inflammation can be used to fight the relevant microorganisms in such a acne treatment concept. The performance against Propionibacterium acnes has been demonstrated in an in-vitro study: aqueous solution with % Polyglyceryl- Laurate ph 4,5 Propionibacterium acnes,%,5% Triclosan,3% Salicylic acid,5% 6 2 minutes 8 24 3 36 d% tric plac
